Special ceremony at Ernest Pass

Barrow captain Daryl Wearing in action for Cumberland

Officials, members and players of Barrow CC were proud to mark the club's staging of Cumberland CCC's Minor Counties Championship game with Staffordshire with a special event.

A newly constructed honours board in Barrow's pavilion at the Ernest Pass Memorial Ground pays tribute to club players and officials who have represented the county.
The board was officially unveiled by the former Cumberland and Surrey player Graham Monkhouse and Barrow CC chairman Ray Mowat at a special ceremony on Sunday 5 July 2009.
Ray Mowat was Barrow's first county representative and the club chairman is still going strong on the playing front, captaining the Second XI and playing for the firsts when required.
Barrow captain Daryl Wearing has made his Cumberland debut in 2009 and joined club-mate Jonathan Miles (Cumberland debut 2007) in the side for the three-day Staffordshire game.

In addition the following Barrow CC officials have also assisted the county club: A Pemberton; C Bland; R Heywood and L Sharp.

"The Barrow club was extremely proud to stage Cumberland's game with Staffordshire and we are hoping to stage another three-day game next season," said Mr Mowat.
"Last year we unveiled an honours board detailing all the Barrow CC players to represent the Cumbria Schools Cricket Association and it was the logical step to honour the senior county players.
"Barrow CC has a good relationship with the county club and we are proud to supply players to representative sides. Staging the game this year has been very successful as Graham came down make the official unveiling ceremony on Sunday and the corporate day on Monday was a big success with great support from local businesses."
Barrow'[s Ernest Pass ground has regularly staged Cumberland games since 1984 and was the venue for Cumberland's List A games against Northants (1997) and Kent (2001).
