Leyland earned a three wicket win over Darwen at Fox Lane, overhauling the visitors' 200 for 6 with seven balls to spare. John Cordingley hit 55 for Darwen as stand-in Leyland captain Peter Cummings returned 4 for 38. Ian Farrington's 37 was top score for Leyland, who were reliant upon an unbroken eighth wicket partnership between Tom Reece and Matthew Watkinson to steer their side home.

In the semi-finals on 10 August Preston are at home to Blackpool.
The remaining second round tie between Morecambe and Kendal could be played on that date (ECB Cockspur Cup commitments not-withstanding). The winners of that tie are at home to Leyland.
