CUP RESULTS SUNDAY 29 JUNE

Kendal and Fleetwood both made progress in the ECB Cockspur Cup, Barrow reached the semi-finals of the Cumbria Cup while Chorley Second XI defeated Fleetwood in the League Cup at Windsor Park.

At Shap Road there was an all-NPCL clash between derby rivals Kendal and Netherfield. In a match reduced to 42 overs per side Netherfield made 185 for 6, captain Chris Parry top-scoring with 58 and Ben Haddrick hitting 43. Ben Simm and Mark Phillips each took two wickets for Kendal.
In reply Kendal made 187 for 6 reaching their target with two overs to spare. Tony Yasin (31), Terry Hunte (40) and Kevin Howarth (36) were the main contributors and youngsters Oliver Killiner (27 not out) and Gareth Ashburner (18 not out) saw Kendal home. Ryan Wilson and Parry each took two wickets for Netherfield.
Scores: Netherfield 185 for 6 (42 overs) (Chris Parry 58, Ben Haddrick 43); Kendal 187 for 6 (40 overs) (Terry Hunte 40).

At Broadwater Fleetwood had an exciting four-run victory over Southport & Birkdale in the same competition. In a match reduced by rain to 42 overs per side Fleetwood were bowled out for 138, opener Tom Wilson top-scoring with 44 before he was run out. But Fleetwood bowled and fielded excellently to defend their fairly low score and the visitors were dismissed for 134 in the 41st over, Wilson taking a caught and bowled to remove last man C Todd for 14. Wilson took the bowling honours with a spell of 3 for 18 while Adam Parker (2 for 14) and Adam Breakall (2 for 29) helped impose a stranglehold such that not one Southport batsman reached 20.
Scores: Fleetwood 138 (42 overs) (T Wilson 44); Southport & Birkdale 134 (40.4 overs) (T Wilson 3 for 18).

Barrow moved through to the semi-finals of the Cumbria Cup with a 66-runs victory over Penrith at Ernest Pass. A third wicket stand of 109 between Darren Clark (67) and Ian Allington (54) provided the cornerstone of their 206 for 9, Neil Lauderdale making 30 not out at the end.
In reply Penrith were restricted to 140 for 9, pro Upal Fernando top-scoring with a patient 47.
Barrow are away at Haverigg in the semi-final while Netherfield, who won at Carlisle in the quarter final a fortnight ago, are away at Workington.

In the remaining League Cup second Division first round tie Chorley 2nd XI defeated Fleetwood 2nd XI by six wickets at Windsor Park.
After being invited to bat a youthful Fleetwood side had no answer to the left-arm opening Chorley bowler Richard Flood, who took five of the first six wickets to fall and returned an analysis of 5 for 12 from 5 overs. From 34 for 6 Fleetwood did manage to reach 78 thanks to late resistance from James Latus (14) and R Matthews (20) before they were dismissed in the 22nd over.
