Fleetwood win again

DIVISION 1 ROUND UP:

Big wins for Fleetwood and Barrow, whilst Kendal, Leyland and Netherfield slip up, in what was a crucial afternoon of Northern Cricket League action:

Kendal v Fleetwood

Fleetwood remain top of Division One, after a crucial 7 wicket win over 4th placed Kendal at Shap Road.

Mat Clark's team opted to put Kendal in on what was an important toss to win

The decision of putting Kendal in worked in the visitors favour as Kendal were soon in trouble at 2-2, losing both Graham Baker and Donovan Du Plessis. Baker being the first to go after being given LBW to Sam Bell,

Du Plessis followed after he was caught by Lee Jones off the bowling of Professional Shaun Leibisch.

The wickets kept tumbling for Kendal as Jamie How, and Darren Braithwaite went for low scores, after both were bowled by Sam Bell who ended with figures of 3-43.

Terry Hunte briefly rallied with 22 off 34 before being caught by Lee Jones off of Adam Parker.

For Parker this was his 1st of what was to be a 5 wicket haul as he returned with figures 5-29

Parker was in exceptional form, dispatching of Gary Baker, Chris Miller, Jack White and Stu Parkin.

Nick Lewthwaite rallied with an unbeaten 30 off 54, as he and Stu Parkin pushed the score to 117

Fleetwood raced to 59 in their reply before losing Mike Clinning for 30 with Nick Lewthwaite taking the wicket,

However the unbeaten 74 off 77 balls by Adam Parker steered the visitors to a crucial win as they reached 120-3 in 27.3 overs.

Barrow v Chorley:

Barrow are now only a point behind Fleetwood after a comfortable 77 run victory over Chorley

The hosts putting themselves in as they were all out for 198, Jon Miles and Liam Livingstone the pick of the batsmen as Miles ended with a top scoring 72 off 99. Livingstone also contributed with an important 37 off 36 balls.

Nicky Burns added some support after a slump in the middle order as Burns ended with 24 off 42 balls.

Iain Critchley bowled well as he was the pick of the bowlers with 5-66.

In the reply Chorley were all out for 121 in 37.4 overs, Daryl Wearing with 5-40, Vaughn Van Jaarsveld also impressed with figures of 3-61.

Leyland v Blackpool:

Leyland had to make do with a winning draw in their home game with Blackpool, Luis Reece hitting a ton as he ended unbeaten on 112 off 145 balls. Andy Furniss with the best figures of 3-54.

Blackpool held on in their reply reaching 127-8 off 50, Professional Dale Deeb with 44 off 114.

The wickets were shared about for the hosts, with Luis Reece, Brett Pelser and David Fisher taking 2, with David and Andrew Makinson taking a wicket each.

Preston v Netherfield:

Netherfield suffered a crucial set back in their quest for the Division One title after losing to Preston by 18 runs at West Cliff.

A crucial 48 off 114 by Sajid Patel and 44 off 65 by Soaib Dukanwala doing the most damage as Preston reached 165-7 off 50 overs.

Netherfield's wickets were shared about,as both Chris Williams and Marc Hadwin grabbed 2 wickets. Cobus Pienaar and Stuart Nixon helping themselves to 1 wicket

In the reply Netherfield were bowled out for 150, Andrew Starkie with 5-63, John Huck top scoring with 34 off 61 balls.

Morecambe v Carnforth:

Morecambe defeated Carnforth by 7 wickets at Woodhill Lane, the visitors shot out for 78 in 37.2 overs. Umar Amin in form with figures of 4-28.

The hosts racing to victory in 19.4 overs reaching 79-3, Umar Amin with an unbeaten 27 and Lewis Edge with an unbeaten 21 with Edge hitting two huge sixes out of the ground

Ikram Ullah also contributed with a knock of 21 to set the hosts reply going

St Annes v Darwen:

Darwen defeated St Annes by 3 wickets at Vernon Road in a dramatic league encounter.

The hosts all out for 181 in 47.3 overs, Atiq Uz Zaman scoring 102 off 114 balls, (13 fours and 1 six). Shaun De Kock with figures of 6-67

Darwen squeezed home in reply as they reached 182 in 49.2 overs, as Neil Cordingley saw Darwen home with a crucial 25 off 14 balls.

Division 2 Round Up:

Chorley v Barrow

Barrow go back to the top of Division 2 after a 4 wicket victory at Chorley, Patrick Allington with 6-29 as Chorley were all out for 117.

Chorley's Wayne Barclay the best of the batsmen with 31 off 49 balls

Ian Allington's men replied with 121-6, Lee Hogg with 35, Glen Kermode unbeaten on 23

Netherfield v Preston

Netherfield cruised to a comfortable 9 wicket success over Preston at Parkside Road, The visitors winning the toss and opting to bat.

Steven Beck (3-40), Matt Clinton (3-18), Liam Dugdale (3-37) and Chesney Walling with (1-20), as Preston were all out for 128

Zach Patel batted throughout the first innings with an unbeaten 54 off 150 balls

In reply Netherfield knocked the runs off in 17.3 overs reaching 132-1, Nathan Dixon with an unbeaten 89 off 65 balls!, with Mark Booker also hitting a useful 27 off 41 balls

Fleetwood v Kendal:

Fleetwood won by 4 wickets in a low scoring encounter with Kendal at Broadwater. The game was delayed due to the rain

Once play got under way, Kendal were bowled out for 73 in 37.5 overs, Rob Dingle with 5-24

In reply Kendal made a fight of it, however Fleetwood saw the game home in 30.2 overs for 74, Rob Dingle with 16, and Benjamin Reader seeing the game home with an unbeaten 13 off 26.

Darwen vs St Annes

St Annes defeated Darwen by 30 runs at Birch Hall, The visitors setting the hosts a target of 168. David Watson with 63 off 109 balls, Sohaib Naseer with 5-53.

In reply Darwen were all out for 138,David Bartholomew with 6-36

Blackpool v Leyland

Leyland got a winning draw at Blackpool, the visitors reaching 187-8 off 50, Nathan Mc Donnell 74 off 108 balls,Tom Reece unbeaten on 50 off 101 balls.

Blackpool held on in their reply reaching 111 for 5, Matthew Houston with 39

Carnforth v Morecambe:

Carnforth defeated Morecambe by 9 wickets at Lodge Quarry, Morecambe all out for 57, 6-31 by C Steele and 4-26 by Darren Nelson.

Carnforth knocking the runs off in 12.2 overs reaching 60-1 Wayne Tomlinson unbeaten on 25 and Neil Dugdale unbeaten on 29
