Division 1 Action

It was another weekend of surprises, as inform Blackpool lost to Darwen by seven wickets at Birch Hall.

However their were no such problems for league leaders Barrow, or second placed Leyland whilst Netherfield moved into third place in the Northern Cricket League

DIVISION ONE:

Darwen v Blackpool:

Blackpool lost by seven wickets at Darwen, the hosts bowling Blackpool out for 62 in 41 overs, Professional Alan Kruger in top form on debut taking 5-18. An outstanding effort by Kruger who only flew in on Thursday.

Darwen knocked the runs off in 17.3 overs, Ammer Mirza with 27 off 36. Richard Gleeson taking 3-15 for the visitors.

Chorley v Leyland:

Leyland continue their 100% start to the season following a comfortable 90 run victory at Chorley.

Luis Reece smashing 110 off 146 balls, whilst Henry Thompson made 49 off 72, with Leyland setting a target of 220.

Gaurav Dhar returning figures of 5-56 with Billy Smith taking 4-76 for Chorley

Chorley were all out for 130 in 48.4 overs David Makinson the key bowler with figures of 3-14.

Lancaster v Netherfield:

Netherfield moved up to third in the table after a comfortable 6 wicket win at Lancaster. South African Professional Colin Ackerman ripping through the hosts with figures of 4-64, as Lancaster made 178-8 off 50.

In reply Netherfield reached 182-4 in 42.1 overs, Ben Barrow with an unbeaten 69 off 134 balls.

Craig Walmsley rolled back the years with an unbeaten 39 off 41 guiding the visitors home.

Morecambe v Barrow:

Barrow remain top of the league after a 6 wicket win at Morecambe. The hosts posting a commanding 218 for 3. Josh Dixon with 80 off 134 and Vishal Tripathi with 71 off 74 balls.

In reply Barrow won the game in 48.4 overs reaching 219, an unbeaten 80 off 54 by Sub Pro Amjad Kahn, whilst Ryan Brown hit 50 off 83 balls.

St Annes v Fleetwood

Defending Champions Fleetwood continue to struggle after losing by 6 wickets at St Annes.

Professional Ian Holland the top performer for the Champions hitting an unbeaten 104 off 103 balls as Fleetwood reached 198 for 6 off 50.

Toby Bulcock taking 3- 74 for St Annes.

In reply St Annes reached 201-4 in 49.1 overs, Matthew Taaffe the top scorer with an unbeaten 83, whilst Andy Kellett made 60 off 78 balls.



Mohsin Modhi appeal turned down as Gary Baker survives for Kendal

Kendal v Preston:

Alex Doolan made his debut for Kendal as they got a winning draw with Preston at Shap Road.

Doolan impressing with 42 off 62 balls, Terry Hunte the top scorer with 50 off 49 balls, whilst Gary Baker ended unbeaten on 40 off 47 balls.

Kendal making 191-9 off 50 overs

In reply Preston reached 151-8, Soyeb Dukanwala unbeaten on 42 off 62 balls. Jack White (3-25) and Chris Miller (3-52) trying to force the victory for Kendal, however Preston held on.

Division 2 Round Up:

Leyland v Chorley:

Leyland suffered a shock 5 wicket defeat by Chorley at Fox Lane, the defending champions making a first innings of 143-7, with Chorley doing well to restrict them thanks to the wickets being shared around.

Ian Oakes (2-28), whilst Keiran Mccullagh, Michael Mead, Adam Mccullagh and Stuart Naden also got in on the act.

In reply an unbeaten 64 by Keiran McCullagh and Rowan Mitcham's opening knock of 30 helped Chorley to victory reaching 144-5 in 38.4 overs.

Steven Pallett (2-26), and Tayyab Afsar (2-25), were the pick of the bowlers for the hosts.

Fleetwood v St Annes:

St Annes remain undefeated in Division Two thanks to a 9 wicket win at Fleetwood, the hosts all out in 38.4 for 87.

Richard Thomas taking 4-13, whilst Mitchell Bolus (3-32) and Kevin Reid (3-11) also got in on the act.

Charles Boucher's unbeaten 54 guiding St Annes to victory reaching 88-1 in 18.2 overs.

Blackpool v Darwen:

Darwen won by seven wickets at Stanley Park, Andrew Cook with 5-22 restricting the hosts to 139-8.

Gary Jackson unbeaten with 47 off 91 and Sam Painter's 47 off 72 helping the visitors home as they reached 141-3 in 41.4 overs.

Netherfield v Lancaster:

A very youthful Lancaster team picked up a surprise 27 run victory at Netherfield, it looked girm for Danny Welbournes men as they were 0-2, however a knock of 62 off 82 balls by Andrew Fletcher as well as a flurry of 36 runs off 67 balls by Steven Armstrong helped Lancaster past a hundred.

The visitors were all out for 122 in 40.5 overs, Nathan Chambers in top form with figures of 6-22, whilst Matthew Clinton returned with figures of 3-8.

In reply, Netherfield struggled and were whittled down to 36-6, however Tommy Prime making his comeback for the club top scored with 30 giving the hosts a chance of victory.

However Lancaster got on top bowling Netherfield out for 95 in 34.4 overs, Ryan Carey with figures of 5-37.

Preston v Kendal:

Kendal won their first game of the season after a 42 run victory over Preston at West Cliff.

Kendal posting 167-8 off 45 over's, Lewis Richardson top scoring with 45. Preston's Abdullah Kavda with figures of 4-47.

In reply 4-29 by Darren Nightingale and 4-43 by Mike Dugdale bowled Preston out for 125 in 34 overs.

Amer Abbas Kahn (34) and Murtaza Hussain (32) offering the main resistance for the hosts.
