Darwen and Fleetwood take advantage

There has been a change at the top of the Northern Cricket League Division One as Darwen reach the summit and Fleetwood move into second place. Morecambe drop to third thanks to a losing draw while Blackpool's game at Penrith was rained off.

DIVISION ONE:

Barrow v Leyland

Injuries weren't to deny Leyland as they won by 8 wickets at Barrow. Leyland have had a number of injuries in recent weeks with David Makinson currently sidelined due to a broken bone in his leg.

Chris Parkinson is at the helm as Club Captain.

Barrow who have had mixed results in recent weeks batted first but were all out for 134 in just 38.3 overs. Daryl Wearing posting a top score of 27 off 26 balls.

Sam Oldham and Nathan Mc Donnell the pick of the bowlers as both ended with 3 wickets a piece. Oldham returning figures of 3-25 and Nathan McDonnell 3-29.

In reply Leyland knocked the runs off in 26.4 overs closing on 136-2 thanks to a partnership of 110 between Tom Reece 64 off 75 balls and Richardt Frenz unbeaten on 51 off 60 balls.

Daryl Wearing and Greg Reynolds taking 1 wicket apiece.

Chorley v Darwen

Darwen were all out for 194 in 48.4 overs with Mark Friend posting 49 off 66 and Jordan Clarke finishing with 38 off 67 balls.

Edwin Moulton and Brenton Mc Donald both took 3 wickets each Moulton 3-69 and Mc Donald 3-61.

Chorley were blown away for 117 in 35.2 overs. Jack Catterall was the main runmaker closing on 35 off 66 balls.

Neil Cordingley with figures of 3-37 and Niall Burke 2-33 took the first five Chorley wickets four of which were ducks. David Bowden and John Cordingley chipped in with 2 wickets each.

Fleetwood v Kendal

Fleetwood go Second in Northern Cricket League Division One after defeating Kendal by 74 runs. Fleetwood won the toss and decided ti bat and made 214-4 off 50 overs.

David King was once again in the runs with 55 off 104 balls followed by Ian Holland 52 off 70 balls and Dean Bell 43 off 56 balls.

Kendal Skipper Chris Miller had figures of 3-61 from 15 overs with Eldred Hawken and Darren Nightingale taking a brace of wickets with Stu Parkin finishing with 1.

Kendal struggled in reply as they were all out for 140 in 47.2 overs. Richard Herron battled on with 30 off 53 balls but Ian Holland mopped up the tail and finished with figures of 5-36

Morecambe v Netherfield

Netherfield knocked Morecambe off the top of Division One after coming away with a winning draw from Woodhill Lane.

The visitors batting first closed on a useful 211-9 off 50 overs, Ben Barrow opened with 28 off 57 balls and after the lossof some cheap wickets Joe Atkinson unbeaten on 48 off 57 balls and Brad Earl with 40 off 37 balls guided Netherfield towards a respectable total helped by quick fire 21 off 11 balls by Ryan Wilson.

Suraj Randiv took 4-56 from 17 overs and Eddie Read took 3-71 from 18

Morecambe closed on 191-7, Suraj Randiv top scoring with 76 off 132 balls. Eddie Read with 35 off 65 balls and Gareth Pedder unbeaten on 26 off 28 balls.

Mark Clarkson returning figures of 3-64 and Dieter Klein returning 2-55.

Penrith v Blackpool

Due to the overnight thunder storms the gound at Penrith was unfit and so the match was abanodoned

St Annes v Preston

Adam Holt posted a unbeaten knock of 129 off 130 deliveries as St Annes took a winning draw against Preston. Holt's century included 14 fours and 1 six in 116 deliveries, helped St Annes declare on 247-3 in 44 overs

Preston battled out 56 overs and they closed on 200-7, Miya Ahmed Lunat scored 66 and Shabnan Ali made 33. Andrew Starkie 11 no andAfzal Kapadia 18 batted out the overs to give Preston their first point other than bonus ones.

Matthew Grindley and Xander Pitchers had a brace of wickets

Division 2 Round Up:

St Annes remain top with Netherfield close behind in second place

Blackpol v Penrith

Blackpool won by 6 wickets against Penrith at Stanley Park. Penrith were all out for 130 in 41.5 overs, Joel Watson returning the best figures of 3-41 for Blackpool

The hosts knocked the runs off in 29.4 overs closing on 132-4 with Ciaran Johnson unbeaten on 65.

Darwen v Chorley

Darwen's recent good form continues after they defeated Chorley by 4 wickets,

Chorley were all out for 114 in 40.4 overs mainly due to the efforts of No 7 Peter Cummins 45 and No 11 Chris Harty 21 no

Andrew Cook 4-14. and Sam Painter 4-17 doing the damage for Darwen

Darwen took only 26 overs for victory finishing on 116-6, Darius Ainslie steadying the ship with 35 after Chris Harty removed the first three batsman and finished with 3-32.

Kendal v Fleetwood

Fleetwood won by 25 runs at Kendal in a high scoring game. Fleetwood closing on 222-8 with Wayne Clarke their top scorer with 64 off 79 balls ably assisted by Tom Wilson with 52 off 61 and Mark Wilkinson unbeaten on 49 off just 28 balls. (Wilsons knock including 3 fours and four sixes)

Toby Tyson returning the best bowling figures of 4-50.

Kendal were all out for 197 in 43.2 overs, Alec Carradus with 66 off 91 balls give Kendal hope along with Finaly Richardson 38 and captain Mike Dugdale 21 before Alex Ryder mopped up the tail and finiashed with 6-36.

Leyland v Barrow

Barrow came away from Leyland with a winning draw, Barrow closing on 177-7 with Ryan Gilmour scoring 80.

Will Jacques and Ross Bretherton took 2 wickets each.

Leyland took on the challenge and closed just 5 runs short on 172-8, Ian Farrington with 36 and Jonathan Mote with 32 leading the Leyland charge. Adam Hunter taking 3-28 for the visitors

Netherfield v Morecambe

Brendan Herron's top scoring knock of 88 saw Netherfield to victory as they defeated Morecambe by 7 wickets.

Morecambe posted a decent enough first innings score of 168-4 thank to Steven Fisher 66, Matthew Derham 52. and Barry Smith with 41.

Hadwin had figures of 2-36 from his 12 overs

In reply Netherfield eased home in 38 overs closing on 172-3, Herron's top scoring knock along with an unbeaten 34 by Matthew Goodall saw Netherfield home and close in at the top.

Preston v St Annes

St Annes remain top of Division Two after a 5 wicket win at Preston

Preston were all out for 146 in 44.3 overs with Syed Ajmal Abbas Shah their top scorer with 50.

Andy Drake with figures of 4-12 and Richard Thomas 4-34 doing the damage for St Annes

The league leaders were home in 35.4 overs closing on 147-5 thanks to Alex Naylor with 35 and David Bartholomew with an unbeaten 35.

Ammer Abbas Kahn with figures of 4-29 giving a little hope for the hosts
