On a glorious sunny day the Northern Premier League starts as we welcome a new team, Longridge and promoted Kendal

DIVISION ONE:

Blackpool v Fleetwood

On a gorgeous sunny day at Stanley Park Blackpool won the toss and invited the visitors to bat

The Fleetwood innings got off to a bad start with Mat Clark bowled by Matthew Grindley for 1, 5-1, Keegan Armstrong joined Rana Pratap Singh Thakur Shiv and they took the score to 57 when Rana Singh was caught by Joshua Boyne off the bowling of Matthew Siddall for 29, 57-2

Sub-pro Tyron Koen came to the wicket but with the total on 74 he became Matthew Siddall's second victim bowled for 13, 74-3, Declan Clerkin quickly followed lbw to Richard Gleeson for 1. 75-4

Adam Sharrocks joined Armstrong but when Armstrong had reached 32 he fell to Siddall caught by Paul Danson, 115-5, Sharrocks soon followed another Siddall victim caught by wicketkeeper Sam Dutton for 30, 120-6

Toby Lush lasted only two balls falling to the same combination caught Dutton bowled Siddall, 120-7, Tom Wilson and James Gregson moved the total onto 133 when Gregson was bowled by Richard Gleeson for 7, 133-8

Tom Wilson was the next wicket to fall becoming Matthew Siddall's sixth victim caught by Muhammed Saad for 11, 141-9. Charlie Clark 9no and James Amor 14no saw Fleetwood to their 50 overs with the score on 158-9

Matthew Siddall took 6-59 off 17 overs, Richard Gleeson 2-25 off 12 and Matthew Grindley 1-27 off 9

The Blackpool innings got off to a poor start losing two early wickets, Ciaran Johnson caught behind off Tyron Keon for 0, 7-1, Sam Dutton quickly followed bowled by James Amor for 1 12-2.

Amor struck again having Matthew Houston caught by Declan Clerkin for 11, 17-3, Muhammed Saad was next out bowled by Koen for 6 32-4, with only two runs added to the score Andy Furniss was out lbw to James Amor for 0, 34-5

Blackpool were in trouble but Joshua Boyne and Ben Howarth fought to get the home team back into the game, they had nearly doubled the score when Howarth was bowled by James Gregson for 22, 62-6.

Matthew Grindley was the next to go bowled by Toby Lush for 6 79-7, disaster for Blackpool when without further addition to the score Joshua Boyne was caught by Declan Clerkin off Tyron Koen for 36, 79-8

Richard Gleeson and Paul Danson gave the home team some hope with a stand of 43 but Koen struck bowling Gleeson for 11 122-9 then bowling Matthew Siddall first ball to give Fleetwood victory leaving Paul Damson 28no

Tyron Koen took 5-32 off 15 overs, James Amor 3-27 from 11, Toby Lush 1-17 off 7 and James Gregson 1-17 from 4

Chorley v Fulwood & Broughton

Fulwood & Broughton won the toss at Windsor Park and elected to bat, they were 219-8 in the 50 overs thanks to Jon Fenton 45, Simon Kerrigan 44, Euan Fletcher 35, Charlie Rossiter 26 and Mark Smith 25

For Chorley Chamikara Edirisinghe 3-67 off 16, Edwin Moulton 2-34 from 12, Gaurav Dhar 1-17 from 5 and Joe Barker 1-25 off 7

The Chorley innings never got off the ground with Jon Fenton destroying the top order and they were bowled out in 30.4 overs for 102, Andrew Holdsworth top scoring with 29, the tail wagged with Gaurav Dhar 21, Harry Barclay 13 and James Lee 11no

Jon Fenton's figures were 10 overs 4 maidens,14 runs and 4 wickets, he was ably supported by Chris Brookes 3-27 from 9 and Lewis Dingle 3-38 off 6.4 overs

Garstang v Barrow

Barrow won the toss at the Riverside Sports Ground and decided to bat and were bowled out for 129 in 40.3 overs with Justin Pringle 50 and James Price 20.

Michael Walling was the destroyer in chief with figures of 7-36 off 16.3 overs, Travis Pieters took the other 3 wickets for 29 from 15 overs

Mark Walling 44no and Michael Walling 36 were the back bone for the victory in 30.1 over reaching 130-4,

Leyland v Kendal

Leyland won the toss at the Stanning Memorial Ground and elected to bat, Karl Cross was the first wicket to fall bowled by Toby Tyson for 4, 18-1

Henry Thompson and Kurtis Watson batted steadily and had taken the score to 81 when Watson was caught by Ryan Shepherd off the bowling of Wes Marshall for 29, 81-2

Saif Badar joined Thompson and they took the total to 112 when the Shepherd/Marshall combination struck again with Thompson out for 53, 112-3, Badar followed shortly afterwards for 22 another Marshall victim caught by Edward Price, 127-4

Marshall and Price struck again having Andrew Makinson caught for 20, 138-5, Tom Reece and James Rounding were scoring at nearly a run a ball when Tom Reece became Marshall's fifth victim bowled for 14, 162-6

The innings closed shortly afterwards with Leyland 165-6 from 50 overs with James Rounding 14no and Saif Vohra 2no

Wes Marshall took 5-35 off 15 overs and Toby Tyson 1-12 from 6

The Kendal reply got off to a steady start but on 30 Saeed Bariwala was caught by Henry Thompson off Kurtis Watson for 11. 30-1, the Kendal score had doubled when the next wicket fell Tom Benn lbw to Andrew Makinson for 14, 67-2

Wes Marshall quickly followed caught and bowled by Saif Badar for 37, 69-3, Ben Phillips and Dan Woods dug in the moved the total onto 97 when Woods was caught by Henry Thompson off Saif Badar for 13, 97-4

Ryan Shepherd soon followed bowled by Henry Thompson for 2, 106-5, this proved to be the last Leyland success as Ben Phillips 53no and Tom Aspinwall 26no saw the visitors home on 168-5 in 47 overs

Saif Badar was the pick of the Leyland bowlers with 2-37 off 17 overs, Andrew Makinson 1-17 from 7, Kurtis Watson 1-38 off 6 and Henry Thompson 1-44 off 12

Netherfield v Longridge

In their first match in the Northern Premier Cricket League Longridge won the toss and asked the home team to bat first. Netherfield were bowled out for 161 in 46.2 overs

Josh Dixon top scored with 46 and fellow opener Ben Barrow made 28, it was only due to no9 Matt Jacson 23 and no8 Joel Blain 17 the home side set a total they could defend

Daniel Wilson 4-49 off 16 overs was the pick of the Longridge bowlers with Matt Greenall 2-20 off 9,Jonathan Millward 2-31 from 12, Lachian Bangs 1-20 off 6 and Ian Simpson 1-23 from 3.2

In reply Longridge gave the Champions a shock thanks to a dominating innings from Lachian Bangs 95no, only no11 Jonathan Millward 10 could reach double figures as Longridge were bowled out for 152 in 36.2 overs

The wickets were shared amongst the Netherfield bowlers, Matt Jackson 3-13 from 8 overs, Marc Hadwin 3-22 from 7, Bevan Small 2-39 off 9 and Joel Blain 2-50 from 10

Penrith v St Annes

Penrith won the toss at Tynefield Park and invited the visitors to bat, Asher Hart struck early bowling Andy Drake for 4, 4-1, Mohamed Nadeem joined Tim Smithies but was soon out bowled by Greg Hall for 4, 17-2.

Amar Ullah was next in and the total was on 69 when Tim Smithies was caught by Samuel Hall off Jamie O'Brien for 21, 69-3, captain Nathan Armstrong joined Ullah but with the score on 78 Ullah fell lbw to Jame O'Briem for 40, 78-4

Richard Staines was Armstrong's next partner and they had a partnership of 100 when Staines was run out by Alister Craig for 34, 178-5 after a short innings Tom Higson was out caught by Samuel Hall off Eddie Robson for 3, 184-6

Nathan Armstrong was next out for 67 caught by Nick Hodgson off Asher Hart, 196-9, Ben Reader 13no and Henry Higson 17no saw St Annes close on 221-7 in their 50 overs

James O'Brien took 2-23 off 7 overs, Asher Hart 2-54 from 13 with Greg Hall and Eddie Robson taking a wicket each.

Penrith lost their first wicket with the score on 26 when Nick Hodgson was caught by Nathan Armstrong off Tom Bradley for 7, 26-1, Nicky Burns joined Zach Reekie and looked to have put the home side in a strong position when Burns was caught behind off Amar Ullah for 55, 119-2

Greg Cameron came and went caught behind by Richard Staines off Mohamed Nadeem for 4, 128-3, St Annes struck quickly taking the wicket of Zach Reekie bowled by Tom Bradley for 56, 134-4,

Asher Hart and Greg Hall had a stand of 27 when Asher Hart became Bradley's third victim bowled for 23, 161-5, Greg Hall soon followed another victim for Bradley bowled for 8 174-6.

The total had moved on to 182 when the seventh wicket fell Alister Craig caught by Nathan Armstrong off Amar Ullah for 11, Jamie O'Brien followed shortly afterwards run out by Mohamed Nadeem for 2 189-8

Tom Bradley took his fifth wicket bowling Jonathon Osborne for 7 196-9, Samuel Hall 11no and Eddie Robson 1no saw Penrith through the last few overs to close on 207-9

Tom Bradley took 5-77 off 15 overs, Amar Ullah 2-47 from 15 and Mohamed Nadeem 1-29 off 11
