The Northern Cricket League Review

Round 6 of the Northern Premier League saw a full round of games, Longridge continued their 100% wins record against St Annes.
There were alao wins for Morecambe, Garstang, Kendal and Blackpool.
The other game was a winning draw for Netherfield against Fulwood & Broughton

Fleetwood v Morecambe

Morecambe won the toss at Broadwater and elected to bat, They made 207 for 7 in their 50 overs. The opening pair gave the visitors a good start Gareth Pedder 39 and Luke Pearson 27.

No 3 Charlie Swarbrick made runs again top scoring with 59, he had support from Ronsen Jonathan 29, KIeran Moffat 17 and Jamie Heywood 16.

For Fleetwood Dyllan Matthews took 3-61 from 15 overs, Declan Clerkin 1-44 off 15 and Jack Wilkinson 1-45 fron 10

The Morecambe opening attack destroyed the Fleetwood innings, the hosts bowled out for 55 in 19.2 overs, Declan Clerkin 16 and Dyllan Matthews 10 the only batsmen to reach double figures.

Liam Moffat was the destoyer in chief taking 6-23 from 10 overs, his opening partner Louis Backhouse had 2-7 off 7 with Jamie Cassidy 2-8 from 2.2

Garstang v Chorley

Chorley won the toss at the Riverside Sports ground and invited the hosts to bat first. Garstang were bowled out in 37.4 overs for 151.

The top four batsmen all reached double figures, Michael Wellings top scored with 35 with contributions from Saliya Saman 24, Michael Walling 22, Mark Walling 14 and no 10 Ian Walling with 15

James Lee had the remarkable figures of 12.4 overs 5 maidens 32 runs 8 wickets, Kairan McCullagh took 1-16 from 6 and Siddesh Lad 1-17 off 7

Ian Walling ran through the Chorley top order taking four of the top five batsmen, Chorley were bowled out for 71 in 24.3 overs.

No 9 Kairan McCullagh top scored with 26 with Ben Simpkins 13 the only other batsman to reach double figures.

Ian Walling took 4-23 from 9 overs, Saliya Saman 3-11 off 9, Waris Khan 2-17 from 3.3 and Danny Gilbert 1-11 off 3

Lancaster v Blackpool

Blackpool won the toss at Lune Road and put the hosts into bat, Lancaster were bowled out in 20.3 overs for 27 runs with Steven Fisher top scoring with 11.

Matthew Grindley was Blackpool's hero taking 6-6 from 10.3 overs, Shivam Chauahn had 3-7 off 6.2 with Chris Baines 1-12 from 3.4

Blackpool knocked off the runs reaching 29-1 in 5.5 overs losing Tomas King caught behind by Steven Fisher for 8 off Atharva Taide. Sam Dutton was undeated on 18.

Leyland v Kendal

Kendal won the toss at the Stanning Memorial ground and decided to bat first, They lost captain Chris Miler after only three balls trapped lbw by Ross Bretherton for 0, 0-1.

Harry Lee joined Darren Nightingale and the Leyland bowlers made them work hard for their runs. Their partnership was 52 when Nightingale was bowled by David Makinson for 41 (51 balls) 52-2.

Chalana De Silva was next in and with Lee moved the total to 91 when De Silva was caught by Andrew Makinson off Kurtis Watson for 30 (31 balls) 91-3. new batsman Saeed Bariwala soon followed trapped lbw by Karl Cross for 1 (6 balls) 93-4

Harry Lee who had played the anchor riole was next out bowled by Iain Critchley for 19 (93 balls) 105-5, Critchley struck again next ball having James Park caught by Karl Cross for 0 (1 ball) 105-6.

Joseph Dodds worked to steady the Kendal innings but lost Willim Price for 1 (15 balls) bowled by Iain Critchley, 111-7, Richard Dakin tried to stay with Doods but was Critchley's next victim stumped by Joe Wallwork-Woods for 2 (17 balls) 125-8.

Critchley took his fifth wicket trapping Kuldeep Singh lbw for 0 (3 balls), 129-9. The innings came to a close when Dodds was run out by Ross Bretherton for 30 (64 balls) with Kendal 141 in 49 overs.

Ian Critchley took 5-15 from 8 overs, the other wicket takers were David Makinson 1-19 off 5, Karl Cross 1-24 from 12, Ross Bretherton 1-27 off 8 and Kurtis Watson 1-36 from 9.

The Leyland opening pair of Karl Cross and James Rounding batted steadily and had taken their partnership to 27 when Rounding was out hit wicket off Kuldeep Singh for 14 (25 balls) 27-1.

Kurtis Watson joined Cross but when he had made 7 (21 balls) he was caught by Kuldeep Singh off Chris Miller 43-2, Leyland were in further trouble when Ross Bretherton was trapped lbw for 0 (10 balls) by Chalana De Silva. 46-3

The Kendal bowlers were on top and Karl Cross fell bowled by Chris Miller for 32 (71 balls) 58-4, Miller struck again having Lloyd Tannant caught by Kuldeep Singh for 5 (23 balls), Joe Wallwork-Woods lasted only thee balls bowled by Chris Miller for 0. 63-6

Victory for the visitors was now in sight Chalana De Silva bowled Andrew Makinson for 2 (17 balls) 65-6, one run later Ben Weaver was bowled by Chris Miller for 0 (5 balls) and the innings closed when Chalana De Silver trapped Iain Critchley lbw for 3 (11 balls) Leyland were bowled out for 66 in 33.1 overs.

Captain Chris Miller had 5-14 from 10 overs with Chalana De Silva 3-17 off 11.1 and Kuldeep Singh 1-18 from 6

Longridge v St Annes

St Annes won the toss at the Newsham Memorial ground and invited Longridge to bat first, Longridge made 197-8 in their 50 overs.

The hosts had a steady opening but the introduction of Corey Flintoff into the attack resulted him having Joshua Mullin caught by Nathan Bolus for 25. He then had John Simpson caught by Andy Drake for 3 followed by James Whitehead caught behind by Alex Bradley for 0

Daniel Wilson joined Luke Platt and they steadied the ship. The home team's total is thanks to Luke Platt 50, Thomas Turner (no7) 45 no, Daniel Wilson 30 and Tom Wood 26

Corey Flintoff took 3-8 from 6 overs, Tom Higson 2-44 off 12 and Nathan Bolus 1-35 from 5

In reply St Annes gave the League leaders a fright being eventually bowled out 12 runs short for 185 in 49.1 overs.

Tom Higson top scored with 44 ably supported by Andy Drake 31, Gurman Bains 30 Alex Bradley 24.

The St Annes tail collapsed including two run outs, Caleb Bradford was the main architect taking three of the last four, He finnished with 4-39 from 13.1 overs.

The other Longridge wicket takers are Jonathan Millward 2-30 from 10 overs, Daniel Wilson 1-15 off 15 and William Vause 1-55 from 9

Netherfield v Fulwood & Broughton

Fulwood & Broughton won the toss at Parkside Road and put the home team in to bat first, they made237-6 in their 50 overs. Richie Forsyth 74 top scored with suport from Josh Dixon 45no, Bradley Earl 41 and 23 from Ben Barrow

For Fulwood & Broughton Abhay Negi took 2-46 from 15 overs Mark Smith 1-25 off 7 and Jon Fenton 1-95 from 13.

In reply Fulwood & Broughton held out for the draw making 178-9 in their 50 overs. Matthew Rosbottom thier main contributor with 76

Richie Forsyth follwed his batting performance with 6-45 from 15 overs with Samual Madhurst 2-26 off 7 and Matt Jackson 1-28 from 9
