The Northern Cricket League Review

The Northern Premier League 2025 season Round 10 saw Kendal extend their lead at the top of Division 1 with their win at Leyland, Settle won at Garstang and it moves them into second place, Chorley defeated Netherfield and move into third.

There were also wins for Blackpool against Longridge and Fulwood & Broughton won the battle of the bottom two at Fleetwood.

St Annes lost for the second week at Thornton Cleveleys and saw their lead cut to then points, Euxton are in second with their win at Carnforth and Carlisle third after defeating Mawdesley at home, Elsewhere Great Eccleston beat Penwortham and Vernon Carus won against Barrow.

DIVISION ONE

LEAGUE MATCHES: ROUND 10

Chorley v Netherfield

Chorley won the toss at Windsor Park and elected to bat first, they lost Miller Childs caught by John Huck off Samuel Mehurst for 4 (13 balls), 5-1.

Number three Edwin Moulton soon followed caught behind by Will Beeden off Isaac Medhurst for 3 (8 balls), 8-2. Keegan Petersen was next in not but did not last long wicket number two for Isaac Medurst caught by Oli Wileman for 5 (23 balls), 22-3.

Will Moulton joined Maxwell Seedall and they were going well putting on nearly a hundred runs when Maxwell Seedall fell caught by Richard Everett off Oli Wileman for 45 (86 balls)(8x4, 1x6), 115-3. Sunny John replaced Seedall but quickly became Samuel Medhurst's next victim caught by Ben Barrow for 10 (8 balls)(2x4), 139-5.

Kieran Yould was the new batsman but was soon out caught and bowled by Cole Mcconchie for 0 (6 balls), 140-6. Joseph Tiffin was Will Moulton's new partner, there was a disaster for the hosts and Will Moulton, he was run out for 99 (63 balls)(6x4,10xx6) off the first ball of Samuel Medhurst's over , 180-7. now on strike Joseph Tiffin hit the next ball for 4, on the third ball Joseph Tiffin was out bowled for 10 (24 balls)(2x4), 184-8, Sam Steeple came to the wicket and his first ball was caught behind by Will Beeden for 0 (1 ball), 184-9.

Samuel Medhurst claimed his fifth wicket Ben Simpkins bowled for 0 (5 balls) as Chorley were bowled out for 185 in 40.5 overs with Matt Dawson 1no (8 balls).

Samuel Medhurst took 5-36 from 12.5 overs, Isaac Medhurst 2-22 off 9, Oli Wileman 1-45 from 7, Cole Mcconchie 1-56 off 8 amd Matt Jackson 0-23 from 4.

Netherfield got off to a bad start losing both openers on the same score, Reece Irving was bowled by Miller Childs for 4 (4 balls), 4-1, Ben Barrow followed caught by Edwin Moulton off Will Moulton for 0 (1 ball), 4-2.

Cole Mcconchie came in at three and John Huck four, they rebuilt the innings and were going well, Sam Steeple was brought into the attack and in his fourth over took the hat-trick, he bowled Cole Mcconchie for 35 (53 balls)(6x4), 77-3, next ball new man Richard Everatt was bowled for 0 (1 ball), 77-4, Josh Dixon replaced Everett and was caught behind by Ben Simpkins off his first ball for 0 (1 ball), 77-5.

Things did not improve for the visitors with new man in Will Beeden out caught behind by Ben Simpkins off Edwin Moulton for 0 (7 balls), 80-6. John Huck had been watching at the other end and was joined by Oli Wileman, their partnership was 50 when Sam Steeple struck again with two wickets in two balls, wicket number four was Oli Wileman lbw for 24 (67 balls), 130-7, incoming batsman Samuel Medhurst went first ball wicket number 5 bowled for 0 130-8.

Isaac Medhurst was next in but was soon out caught behind by Ben Simpkins off Edwin Moulton for 2 (11 balls), 142-9. Matt Jackson joined Huck and with Huck trying to farm the bowling were getting closer to the target, Disaster struck for the visitors with Matt Jackson run out by Edwin Moulton for 0 (5 balls) as Netherfield were bowled out for 171 in 42 overs fourteen runs short, John Huck was 79no (102 balls)(9x4, 2x6).

Sam Steeple took 5-44 from 14 overs, Edwin Moulton 2-49 off 11, Miller Childs 1-25 from 6, Will Moulton 1-30 off 7 and Joseph Tiffin 0-15 from 4.

Fleetwood v Fulwood & Broughton

Fulwood & Broughton won the toss at Broadwater and chose to bat first, Jeremy Davies bowled Ewen Mansford for 1 (13 balls), 3-1, Simon Kerrigan came in at three but fell bowled by Hassan Mughal for 8 (23 balls), 19-2.

Ben Rosbottom joined Matt Smith and they were making steady progress when the both were out, Ben Rosbottom was first out bowled by Matthew Siddall for 17 (50 balls)(2x4), 58-3, Matt Smith fell two runs later lbw to Michael Rippon for 26 (58 balls)(4x4), 60-4.

We now had two new batsmen Ben Parkinson and James McWilliam and both were out on the same score, Michael Rippon claimed his second wicket Ben Parkinson lbw for 8 (29 balls), 75-5. James McWilliam was also lbw but to Matthew Siddall for 9 (16 balls)(1x6), 70-7.

Once again we had two new batsmen, Muhammad Zaid and Lewis Wellings, history repeated itself the visitors losing two wickets on the same score with Michael Rippon taking two wickets in three balls, Muhammad Zaid was caught behind by Harry McAleer for 19 (29 balls)(3x4), 99-7, incoming batsman Cameron Port lasted two balls bowled for 0 (2 balls), 99-8.

Kahlil Patel was next in but quickly became Michael Rippon's fifth wicket bowled for 0 (2 balls), 105-9, Chris Brookes came in at eleven but was out caught by Declan Clerkin off Matthew Siddall for 0 (6 balls) as Fulwood & Broughton were bowled out for 112 in41.4 overs with Lewis Wellings 18no (22 balls)(2x6).

For Fleetwood Michael Rippon took 5-18 from9, Matthew Siddall 3-44 off 13.4, Hassan Mughal 1-17 from 7, Jeremy Davies 1-21 off 7 and Declan Clerkin 0-9 from 5.

The Fleetwood opening pair were soon parted, Jeremy Davies caught behind by James McWilliam off Chris Brookes for 13 (13 balls)(2x4), 17-1. In at three was Harry McAleer but on scoring 8 (20 balls) he was caught by Simon Kerrigan off Kahlil Patel, 37-2.

Michael Rippon was the new batsman but lost his partner Tomas King bowled by Simon Kerrigan for 18 (28 balls)(3x4), 47-3. Charlie Clark was next in but with only four runs added he was bowled by Simon Kerrigan for 1 (16 balls), 51-4, Adam Sharrocks came to the wicket but was soon out caught by Ewen Mansford off Kahlil Patel for 1 (7 balls), 52-5.

Andy Drake replaced Sharrocks, disaster struck for the hosts Simon Kerrigan taking two wickets in two balls, Michael Rippon was bowled for 19 (60 balls)(2x4), 68-6. next ball he bowled Declan Clerkin for 0 (1 ball), 68-7.

Hassan Mughal joined Andy Drake but quickly became wicket number five for Simon Kerrigan lbw for 1 (9 balls), 73-8, Callum Birtwell-Jones was next in but lost Andy Drake bowled by Lewis Wellings for 12 (43 balls), 78-9.

The Fleetwood innings closed in the next over on 78 all out in 33.3 overs with Simon Kerrigan bowling Callum Birtwell-Jones for 0 (4 balls) with Matthew Siddall 0no having not faced a ball.

Simon Kerrigan took 6-13 from 12.3 overs, Kahlil Patel 2-35 off 15, Lewis Wellings 1-10 from 2 and Chris Brookes 1-19 off 4.

Garstang v Settle

Garstang won the toss at the Riverside sports ground and decided to bat first, Openers Tom Higson and Michael Walling gave them a good start but both fell on the same score, Tom Higson was first out caught by Jack Caton off Will Vause for 21 (32 balls)(3x4), 44-1. In the next over Michael Walling was caught behind by Benjamin Hulse off Eddy Read for 16 (31 balls)(3x4), 44-2.

The two new batsmen were Joseph Pearson and Mark Walling, Will Vause struck again having Mark Walling caught behind by Benjamin Hulse for 0 (7 balls), 56-3. Matthew Crowther joined Joseph Pearson but was soon out caught behind by Benjamin Hulse off Eddy Read for 1 (10 balls), 62-4.

Sumit Ruikar came to the wicket but with only four runs added Joseph Pearson was caught behind by Benjamin Hulse off Will Vause for 3 (23 balls), 66-5. Tom Wells replaced Pearson but in Will Vause's next over was caught behind by Benjamin Hulse for 0 (3 balls), 66-6.

Ernie Collinson was the next man in but one run later he was caught by Benjamin Hulse off Eddy Read for 1 (3 balls), 67-7. Ian Walling joined Sumit Ruikar and they took the score past the hundred, Amar Ullah was brought into the attack and in his second over had Ian Walling caught by James Snowden for 19 (19 balls)(3x4), 103-8.

Danny Gilbert was the new batsman but soon lost Sumit Ruikar caught by Zane Nirodi off Gautam Waghela for 18 (58 balls), 109-9. Coming in at number eleven was Corey Cater and with Gilbert had a partnership of 24 broken when Danny Gilbert was caught by Zane Nirodi off Amar Ullah for 9 (16 balls)(1x6) as Garstang were bowled out for 133 in 37.1 overs. Corey Cater was 15no (26 balls).

The Settle Wicket-Keeper Benjamin Hulse had six victims in the innings.

The Settle bowling was Will Vause 4-46 from 8 overs, Eddy Read 3-27 off 15, Amar Ullah 2-18 from 6.1 and Gautam Waghela 1-40 off 8

The Settle reply got off to a bad start losing Benjamin Hulse lbw for 1 (11 balls), 6-1. Amar Ullah came in at three and with Zane Nirodi kept the scoreboard ticking over, Sumit Ruikar was introduced into the attack and with his second ball bowled Amar Ullah for 18 (39 balls)(3x4), 39-2.

Gautam Waghela joined Nirodi but with only nine runs added Sumit Ruikar claimed his second wicket Zane Nirodi caught by M Walling for 22 (34 balls)(2x4, 2x6), 48-3. Will Vause was next in but was soon out bowled by Corey Cater for 1 (13 balls), 55-4.

James Snowden replaced Vause and with Waghela saw the visitors to victory on 134-4 in 35.2 overs with Gautam Waghela 54no (62 balls)(4x4, 2x6) and James Snowden 27no (54 balls)(2x4, 1x6).

Sumit Ruikar tok 2-47 from 11.2 overs, Danny Gilbert 1-25 off 9, Corey Cater 1-44 from 12 and Ian Walling 0-13 off 3.

Leyland v Kendal

Kendal won the toss at the Stanning Memorial Ground and chose to bat first, Darren Nghtingale was the first Kendal wicket to fall caught behind by Adam Sexton off Luke Hands for 5 (17 balls), 25-1.

The Kendal number three was Finlay Richardson who soon became Luke Hands second victim caught by Ross Bretherton for 0 (5 balls), 31-2. Cole Abrahams joined Maximus Winskill and their partnership was sixty when Cole Abrahams fell caught by James Rounding off Ned Patterson for 31 (39 balls)(5x4), 91-3.

Freddie Fallows came to the wicket and was soon out caught by Luke Hands off Andrew Jacques for 2 (3 balls), 94-4. Bradley Earl was the new man but with the score on nelson Maximus Winskill was caught by Ned Patterson off Andrew Jacques for 60 (95 balls)(7x4, 1x6), 111-5.

Harry Temperton was next in, Andrew Jacques claimed his third wicket Bradley Earl caught behind by Adam Sexton for 17 (24 balls)(3x4), 126-6. Christopher Miller was Temperton's new partner and they moved the score along until Christopher Miller was caught by Lloyd Tennant off Ned Patterson for 12 (27 balls). 161-7.

Sam Sharp replaced Miller and was the next man out caught behind by Adam Sexton off Sam Oldham for 14 (12 balls)(1x4,1x6), 182-8. Ned Patterson quickly accounted for incoming batsman Louis Backhouse bowling him for 0 (1 ball), 183-9.

The Kendal innings closed on 184 all out in 48.3 overs with number eleven Joe Davies run out by James Rounding for 0 (5 balls) leaving Harry Temperton 31no (63 balls)(4x4).

The bowling figures were Ned Patterson 3-40 from 13 overs, Andrew Jacques 3-46 off 14, Luke Hands 2-37 from 8, Sam Oldham 1-10 off 2.3 and Ross Bretherton 0-44 from 11.

Jacob Wright and Alexander Eyre gave the hosts a great start with the opening partnership approaching the hundred, the breakthrough came with the introduction of Joe Davies into the attack and with the last ball of his first over trapped Jacob Wright lbw for 40 (55 balls)(7x4), 98-1.

Sam Oldham was in at three but with only six runs added Alexander Eyre was out caught by Freddie Fallows off Christopher Miller for 50 (67 balls)(7x4), 104-2. Luke Hands was the new batsman and with Oldham steadily moved the score along until Luke Hands was caught by Sam Sharp off Christopher Miller for 13 (29 balls), 126-3.

Lloyd Tennant came to the wicket but with only four runs added two wickets fell, Lloyd Tennant was caught behind by Finlay Richardson off Joe Davies for 0 (1 ball), 130-4, in the next over Christopher Miller claimed his third wicket Sam Oldham caught by Sam Sharp for 11 (23 balls), 130-5.

Ned Patterson and Ross Bretherton were the new batsmen and took the score past the 150 when Freddie Fallows had Ned Patterson caught by Cole Abrahams for 12 (15 balls)(2x4), 152-6.

Disaster struck for the hosts for three runs later two wickets fell, James Rounding fell lbw to Christopher Miller for 2 (13 balls), 155-7, Ross Bretheton was also out lbw but to Freddie Fallows for 8 (28 balls), 155-8.

Adam Sexton and Karl Cross had the task to try and secure victory, Sam Sharp returned to the attack and claimed the last two wickets, Karl Cross was bowled for 4 (16 balls), 163-9. Andrew Jacques was the last man out caught by Darren Nightingale for 7 (13 balls) as Leyland were bowled out for 173 in 47.1 overs 11 runs short, Adam Sexton was 4no (23 balls).

For Kendal Christopher Miller took 4-42 from 15 overs, Sam Sharp 2-23 off 6.1, Joe Davies 2-24 from 7, Freddie Fallows 2-58 off 15 and Louis Backhouse 0-18 from 4.

Longridge v Blackpool

Longridge won the toss at the Newsham Memorial ground and elected to bat first, openers Joshua Mullin and Taariq Chiecktey gave them a great start, Joshua Boyne broke the partnership bowling Joshua Mullin for 18 (34 balls)(4x4), 68-1.

Luke Platt was the hosts number three but when Taariq Chiecktey reached 50 (54 balls)(7x4, 2x6) he was caught by Stuart Ashford off Joshua Boyne, 85-2. The incoming batsman was Zac Christie but he soon fell lbw toAli Usman for 7 (19 balls), 103-3, Kieran McClintock was in next but he quickly became wicket number two for Ali Usman, stumped by Ben Howarth for 5 (9 balls), 109-4.

Rob Hollinghurst joined Platt but with only ten runs added he was out lbw to Ali Usman for 6 (22 balls), 119-5. Tom Howarth was the new batsman but after supporting Luke Platt he was caught by Joshua Boyne off Jamie Thomson for 6 (34 balls), 138-6.

Gabriel Dowthwaite replaced Howarth but was out going for runs in the last three overs, he was caught by Ali Usman off Matthew Grindley for 14 (11 balls)(2x4), 162-7.

Ollie Mullin came in next and with Luke Platt saw Longridge close on 188-7 in their 50 overs with Luke Platt 55no (109 balls)(5x4, 2x6) and Ollie Mullin 14no (9 balls)(1x4, 1x6).

The Blackpool bowling was Ali Usman 3-21 from 15 over, Joshua Boyne 2-53 off 15, Matthew Grindley 1-53 from 6 and Jamie Thomson 1-57 off 14.

The Blackpool opening pair of Jake Muncaster and Ali Usman gave them a good start with Ali Usman leading the way, Jonathan Millward made the breakthrough having Jake Muncaster caught behind by Taariq Chiecktey for 7 (29 balls), 37-1.

Andrew Needham was the new batsman but soon lost Ali Usman caught by Rob Hollinghurst off Jonathan Millward for 31 (25 balls)(4x6), 42-2. Joshua Boyne joined Needham and they saw the visitors to victory on 191-2 in 27.1 overs. Joshua Boyne making 91no (64 balls)(9x4, 7x6) and Andrew Needham 50 no (50 balls)(4x4, 4x6).

The bowling figures were Jonathan Millward 2-38 from 9 overs, Kieran McClintock 0-18 off 3, Ollie Mullin 0-21 from 2, Gabriel Dowthwaite 0-32 off 2, Jake Durnell 0-33 from 6.1 and Tom Howarth 0-49 off 5.

Carlisle v Mawdesley

Carlisle won the toss at Edenside and chose to bat first, Zephania Arinaitwe and Marc Brown opened, Zephania Arinaitwe was the first man out caught behind by Fyffe Dennis off Joshua Adamson for 20 (21 balls)(2x4), 30-1.

Oliver Spedding was in at three but was quickly out caught behind by Fyffe Dennis off Joshua Unsworth for 0 (5 balls), 36-2. Mohammed Jamal joined Brown and they were going well, their partnership was 99 when Neil O'Malley struck with two wickets in three balls, Muhammed Jamil was the first caught by Daniel Unsworth for 37 (57 balls)(5x4), 135-3. two balls later new man Ben Davidson was caught by Aneeq Hassan for 0 (2 balls), 135-4.

Alex Raybould came in next and was Neil O'Malley's next victim caught by Joshua Adamson for 19 (34 balls)(3x4), 158-5. Brodie Glendinnig replaced Raybould, Neil O'Malley once again took two wickets in three balls to claim his fourth and fifth wickets, Brodie Glendinning was his fourth bowled for 5 (16 balls), 171-7, two balls later incoming batsman Nico Watt fell lbw for 0 (2 balls), 171-8.

Tom Benn joined Marc Brown but with only one run added was out lbw to Daniel Unsworth for 0 (3 balls), 172-8, Chris Blythe was in at ten and was the next man out lbw to Daniel Unsworth for 10 (19 balls)200-9

Ben Purdham came to the wicket and saw Marc Brown take a two off the last ball of the innings to reach his century as Carlisle closed on 208-9 in their 50 overs, Marc Brown carried his bat and was 100no (135 balls)(4x4, 2x6) with Ben Purham 4no (5 balls).

Neil O'Malley took 5-46 from 15 overs, Daniel Unsworth 2-20 off 7, Joshua Adamson 1-35 from 10, Joshua Unsworth 1-40 off 7, Lee Berrie 0-22 from 3 and Oliver Ellicott 0-39 off 8.

The Mawdesley reply got off to a very bad start losing two early wickets, Daniel Unsworth was bowled the first ball of the innings by Nico Watt for 0, 0-1, Fyffe Dennis was at three and saw Aneeq Hassan fall caught behind by Tom Benn off Chris Blythe for 4 (3 balls), 4-2.

Charlie Hailwood was in next and let Fyffe Dennis lead the way, Ben Purdham broke the partnership having Charlie Hailwood stumped by Tom Benn for 4 (31 balls), 32-3, one run later he had Fyffe Dennis caught by Nico Watt for 22 (49 balls), 33-4.

The two new batsmen were Lee Berrie and Oliver Ellicott, they took the score to fifty when Ben Purdham claimed his third wicket Oliver Ellicott caught behind by Tom Benn for 4 (19 balls), 51-5.

The next man in was Lewis McKinnon and runs were hard to come by, he was the next to go caught by Muhammed Jamil off Ben Davidson for 5 (22 balls), 73-6. Joshua Unsworth replaced McKinnon and saw Lee Berrie's fighting innings come to a close bowled by Ben Davidson for 29(61 balls)(4x4), 80-7

Will Caunce came to the wicket but with only one run added Joshua Unsworth was out lbw to Nico Watt for 5 (11 balls), 81-8. Joshua Adamson was in at ten but lost Will Caunce caught by Alex Raybould off Ben Davidson for 6 (12 balls), 90-9.

Ben Davidson brought the Mawdesley innings to a close on 106 all out in 39.1 overs having number eleven Neil O'Malley caught by Ben Purdham for 0 (3 balls) leaving Joshua Adamson 17no (23 balls)(2x4).

The Carlisle bowling was Ben Davidson 4-26 from 7.1 overs, Ben Purdham 3-22 off 7, Nico Watt 2-22 from 15, Chris Blythe 1-26 off 6 and Brodie Glendinning 0-6 from 4.

Carnforth v Euxton

Carnforth won the toss at Lodge Quarry and elected to bat first, they got off to a bad start losing five wickets for 29 runs.

Joseph Bowden was the man doing the damage taking all five wickets. His first was Ryan Nelson caught by Josh Tolley for 3 (11 balls), 7-1, number three Bradley Hoyle was his second caught by Elliott Mackrael for 2 (15 balls), 16-2. number three was Freddie Whatmuff caught by Josh Tolley for 8 (36 balls), 17-3. ten runs were added before Dylan Conroy was caught behind by Jack Morgan for 9 (11 balls), his fifth wicket two runs later was James Park Johnson caught by James Bone for 2 (24 balls), 29-5.

Shane Dixon and Lee Hodkinson had the task of rebuilding the innings, They had nearly doubled the score when James Bowden claimed his sixth wicket Lee Hodkinson caught by Elliott Mackrael for 8 (24 balls), 59-6.

Tom Parkinson joined Shane Dixon but with only two runs added Shane Dixon was caught and bowled by James Bone for 21 (30 balls), Adam Hornby replaced Dixon and with Parkinson moved the score along until they reached 100 when Adam Hornby was caught by James Bone off Louis Sweeney for 5 (23 balls), 100-8.

Stan Rich was the new batsman but was soon out caught by Ben Houghton off Louis Sweeney for 1 (8 balls). in came number eleven James Parkinson and with Tom Parkinson took the game to the visitors, their partnership was 74 broken when James Bone had Tom Parkinson caught by Josh Tolley for 71 (66 balls)(8x4, 3x6) as Carnforth were bowled out for 180 in 46 overs, James Parkinson was 25no (31 balls)(3x4, 1x6).

Joseph Bowden took 6-29 from 15 overs, Louis Sweeney 2-28 off 6, James Bone 2-41 from 6, Elliott Mackrael 0-22 off 3, Joseph Barker 0-26 from 6 and Jack Shovelton 0-27 off 10.

The visitors reply was not a good one either losing two quick wickets, Josh Tolley was caught behind by Shane Dixon off James Park Johnson for 4, 4-1, fellow opener Max Harper soon followed bowled by Freddie Whatmuff for 4 (8 balls), 10-2.

The two new batsmen were James Bone and Ben Houghton, they made steady progress until James Park Johnson bowled Ben Houghton for 10 (25 balls), 39-3. Hakeem Perryman was next in but soon became James Park Johnson's next victim caught by Freddie Whatmuff for 8 (18 balls)(2x4), 52-4.

Jack Shovelton joined Bone and were making progress until Jack Shovelton was out lbw to Dylan Conroy for 15 (18 balls), 76-5. Jack Morgan replaced Shovelton but soon lost his partner James Bone caught by James Park Johnson off Freddie Whatmuff for 34 (66 balls)(4x4), 89-6.

Joseph Barker came to the wicket and with Jack Morgan saw the visitors home on 181-6 in 48 overs with Jack Morgan 45no (81 ball)(4x4) and Joseph Barker 40no (73 balls)(5x4).

For Carnforth James Park Johnson took 3-59 from 15 overs, Freddie Whatmuff 2-35 off 9, Dylan Conroy 1-54 from 13, James Parkinson 0-16 off 6 and Tom Parkinson 0-16 from 5.

Great Eccleston v Penwortham

Great Eccleston took the first knock and got off to a poor start losing Will Turnbull bowled by Ryan Roberts for 1 (4 balls), 1-1. Number three Alexander Rhodes joined Nisanth Nithian and they were going well when Nisanth Nithian was caught behind by Robbie Sumner off Nathan Walmsley for 30 (48 balls)(5x4), 59-2.

Mohammed Fazil was in next and with Rhodes were scoring freely, Charlie Parker broke the partnership having Alexander Rhodes caught by Ryan Maddock for 78 (73 balls)(6x4, 5xx6), 139-3.

Mohamed Nadeem replaced Rhodes but lost Mohammed Fazil soon after lbw to Ryan Maddock for 30 (43 balls)(2x4, 2x6), 150-4. The new batsman was Joe McMillan and with Nadeem kept the scoreboard ticking over. Ryan Maddock claimed his third wicket Mohamed Nadeem lbw for 27 (41 balls)(4x4), 204-5.

The incoming batsman was Richard Booth, Ryan Maddock was the partnership breaker, he had Joe McMillan caught by Harish Hamsa for 44 (53 balls)(6x4), 227-6.

Alex Swale was next in but was soon out bowled by Ryan Maddock for 0 (6 balls), 237-7. Phil Booth came to the wicket but did not last long bowled by Ryan Roberts for 3 (8 balls), 255-8.

Number ten Will Thistlethwaite was Richard Booth's new partner but lost him on the second ball of the last over caught by Ryan Roberts off Charlie Parker for 35 (19 balls)(4x4, 2x6), 261-9.

Jim Proctor was in at eleven and with Thistlethwaite saw great Eccleston close on 271-9 in their 50 over, Will Thistlethwaite was 2no (3 balls) and Jim Proctor 2no (2 balls).

The Penwortham bowling figures were Ryan Maddock 3-38 from 15 overs, Ryan Roberts 3-70 off 13, Charlie Parker 2-67 from 12, Nathan Walmsley 1-41 off 5 and Ashley Billington 0-40 from 5.

The Penwortham reply got off to a bad start losing three early wickets, Ryan Dimasi was the first to go bowled by Alexander Rhodes for 0 (2 balls), 4-1, number three Jonathon Hothersall quickly followed caught behind by Will Thistlethwaite off Jim Proctor for 2 (4 balls), 11-2. incoming batsman Ryan Maddock did not fare any better caught behind by Will Thistlethwaite off Alexander Rhodes for 0 (5 balls), 12-3.

Robbie Sumner had been watching at the other end and had a new partner in Charlie Parker, they steadily moved the score along until Mohamed Nadeem was introduced into the attack and in his second over had Charlie Parker caught behind by Will Thistlethwaite for 12 (28 balls)(2x4), 43-4.

Joseph Bradshaw replaced Parker and was scoring at a run a ball until Mohamed Nadeem bowled him for 14 (14 balls), 57-5. Harish Hamsa was in next but lost the battling Robbie Sumner stumped by Will Thistlethwaite for 25 (58 balls)(3x4), 80-6.

Charlie Evans came to the wicket , ten runs had been added when Harish Hamsa was caught by Will Turnbull off Phil Booth for 23 (24 balls)(4x4), 90-7. The new batsman was Ryan Roberts and with Charlie Evans dug in, their partnership was 31 when Phil Booth bowled Charlie Evans for 10 (29 balls), 121-8.

Ashley Billington was in at ten and he continued the fight. he lost his partner Ryan Roberts caught by Nisanth Nitian off Alexander Rhodes for 18 (33 balls)(2x4), 138-9.

Nathan Walmsley was number eleven but the Penwortham innings closed on 142 all out in 36.2 overs with Mohammed Fazil bowling Ashley Billington for 7 (21 balls) leaving Nathan Walmsley 4no (1 ball).

The Great Eccleston bowling was Alexander Rhodes 3-24 from 6.1 overs, Mohamed Nadeem 3-34 off 8, Phil Booth 2-34 from 8, Mohammed Fazil 1-0 off 0.1, Jim Proctor 1-20 from 9 and Will Turnbull 0-23 off 5.

Thornton Cleveleys v St Annes

Thornton Cleveleys won the toss at Illawalla and put the visitors into bat, Nathan Armstrong and Christopher Wilson opened, Joshua Rolinson made the early breakthrough having Christopher Wilson caught by Christopher Hedges for 4 (11 balls), 20-1.

The St Annes number three was Luke Jardine, disaster struck for the visitors with Luke Jardine run out by J Sackfield for 4 (7 balls), 44-2, Promod Maduwantha was in next but was soon out lbw to Joshua Rolinson for 2 (6 balls), 50-3.

Ashton Charles joined Armstrong and with Armstrong leading the way had nearly doubled the score when Ashton Charles fell lbw to Jake Apperley for 8 (31 balls), 91-4. Thomas Bradley replaced Charles but soon lost Nathan Armstrong lbw off Jake Applerley for 69 (44 balls)(10x4, 3x6), 107-5.

James Bradley was the new man in and was the net wicket to fall bowled by Joshua Sackfield for 8 (17 balls), 126-6. Nathan Bolus came to the wicket and with Bradley were making progress when he was out lbw to Christopher Hedges for 10 (17 balls)(2x4), 145-7.

Rory Urquhart was next in but with only two runs added was out caught by Richard Jenkinson off Christopher Hedges for 1 (8 balls), 147-8. Alex Urquhart was Thomas Bradley's new partner, their partnership was 28 when Alex Urquhart was bowled by Joshua Rolinson for 15 (25 balls)(2x4), 185-9.

Number eleven Ryan Birkman was the last man out caught by Daniel Howard off Joshua Rolinson for 0 (11 balls) as St Annes were bowled out for 187 in 37.2 overs with Thomas Bradley 50no (47 balls)(7x4, 1x6).

For Thornton Cleveleys Joshua Rolinson took 4-27 from 7.2 overs, Christopher Hedges 2-24 off 5, Jake Apperley 2-37 from 9, Joshua Sackfield 1-27 off 8, Daniel Howard 0-21 from 3 and Cameron Chisholm 0-50 off 5.

The Thornton Cleveleys opening partnership of Josh Borrell and Joshua Sackfiekd gave them a great start with a stand of 97 broken when Josh Borrell was bowled by Promod Maduwantha for 27 (46 balls)(4x4, 1x6), 97-1.

Sam Curwen was the hosts number three but soon lost Joshua Sackfield run out for 68 (59 balls)(12x4, 2x6), 114-2. Joshu Rolinson joined Curwen and they making good progress until Sam Curwen was bowled by Pormod Maduwantha for 11 (38 balls), 140-3.

The new batsman was Christopher Chisholm who was run out by Nathan Bolus for 3 (9 balls), 153-4. Christopher Hedges replaced Chisholm and with Rolinson saw the hosts to victory on 188-4 in 35 overs, Joshua Rolinson was 43no (38 balls)(6x6) and Christopher Hedges 9no (21 balls)(2x4).

The St Annes bowling was Promod Maduwantha 2-52 off 15, Ryan Birkman 0-1 off 2, Alex Urquhart 0-31 from 5, Thomas Bradley 0-39 off 7 and Nathan Bolus 0-52 from 6.

Vernon Carus v Barrow

Barrow won the toss at Factory Lane and chose to bat first, Drew Postlethwaite and Simon Chadd gave the visitors a very good start, Kashif Jamil made the breakthrough having Drew Postlethwaite caught by Hasan Zaman for 44 (49 balls)(8x4), 64-1.

Sam Duttom came in at three and with Chadd nearly doubled the score, Simon Chadd was the next wicket to fall lbw to Ian Dunn for 39 (97 balls)(6x4), 123-2. Dikshant Vairagi was in next and with Dutton took the score to 200 when Sam Dutton was caught by David Fisher off Muhammad Patel for 77 (65 balls)(9x4, 3x6), 200-3.

Toby Mowat joined Vairagi but was soon out caught and bowled by Muhammad Patel for 9 (10 balls (2x4), 215-4. the new batsman was Jack Singleton and with Vairagi were going nicely until Dikshant Vairagi was caught by Ian Dunn off Matthew Timms for 57 (51 balls)(5x4, 4x6), 241-5.

Nisanth Arun came to the wicket with four overs to go and was out in the last over caught by David Fisher off Matthew Timms for 7 (14 balls), new batsman Cameron McDougall was out on the last ball caught by David Fisher off Matthew Timms for 1 (2 balls) as Barrow closed on 277-7 in their 50 overs with Jack Singleton 24no (14 balls).

The bowling figures were Matthew Timms 3-53 from 12 overs, Muhammad Patel 2-74 off 9, Ian Dunn 1-38 from 11.2, Kashif Jamil 1-60 off 10, Wes Royle 0-13 from 1.4 and Fraser Young 0-37 off 6.

Haren Shetty and Hasan Zaman opened for the hosts, Hasan Zaman went cheaply caught by Jack Singleton off Sam Henderson for 7 (14 balls), 15-1. Wes Royle came in at three and with Shetty were going very well, their partnership was 152 when Haren Shetty was caught behind by Drew Postlethwaite off Sam Dutton for 96 (104 balls)(9x4, 5x6), 167-2.

Jaxon Cornford joined Royle and they were scoring freely and had reached 236 when both were out to Dikshant Vairagi who took two wickets in three balls with a run out on the ball in between, Jaxon Cornford was the first to go caught by Sam Dutton for 40 (32 balls), 236-3, next ball new batsman David Fisher was run out by Jack Singleton for 0 (1 balls), 236-4, the third ball saw Wes Royle caught by Jack Singleton for 81 (112 balls)(12x4, 1x6), 236-5.

We now had two new batsmen Jamie Rigby and Matthew Timms requiring 42 from 6.1 overs, with ten runs added Matthew Timms was out caught by Toby Mowat off Dikshant Vairagi for 8 (8 balls), Ian Dunn came to the wicket but soon became wicket number four for Dikshant Vairagi lbw for 7 (7 balls), 262-7.

Muhammad Patel replaced Dunn with two overs to go and sixteen runs required, Jamie Rigby hit ten off the last two balls of the 48th over leaving three required for victory, Muhammad Patel took one off the first ball and Rigby hit the fifth ball for four and victory as Vernon Carus closed on 279-7 in 49.5 overs with Jamie Rigby 25no (18 balls)(3x4,1x6) and Muhammad Patel 2no(3 balls).

Dikshant Vairagi took 4-81 from 13.5 overs, Sam Henderson 1-33 off 10, Sam Dutton 1-72 from 8, Simon Chadd 0-27 off 3, Toby Mowat 0-30 from 4 and Daryl Wearing 0-35 off 11.
