The Northern Cricket League Review

The Northern Premier League 2025 season Round 14 saw Garstang defeat leaders Kendal inflicting their first defeat of the season and moving up to third, Netherfield beat Blackpool and remain second, This defeat moves Blackpool down to fourth.

Settle defeated Chorley and Leyland won at Fleetwood. Longridge in their fight against relegation gave themselves a chance by winning at home against Fulwood & Broughton.

Leaders St Annes got back to winning ways by beating Carnforth, second placed Euxton won at Mawdesley and third placed Carlisle defeated Barrow.

There were also wins for Thornton Cleveleys at home to Great Eccleston and Penwortham at Vernon Carus.

DIVISION ONE

LEAGUE MATCHES: ROUND 14

Fleetwood v Leyland

Leyland won the toss at Broadwater and decided to bat first, They got off to a good start, Declan Clerkin broke the opening partnership having Alexander Eyre lbw for 26 (35 balls)(4x4), 48-1.

Sam Oldham came in at three but four runs later Karl Cross was caught by Charlie Clark off Jeremy Davies for 20 (29 balls)(3x4), 52-2. the next man in was Jacob Wright and with Oldham kept the scoreboard ticking over until Sam Oldham was caught by Andy Drake off Jeremy Davies for 10 (20 balls)92x4, 75-3.

Lloyd Tennant was the new batsman and with Wright took the score past the hundred when he was caught by Michael Rippon off Jeremey Davies for 11 (32 balls)(2x4), 107-4. Ned Patterson joined Wright and they were going well, Declan Clerkin returned to the attack and had Jacob Wright caught by Charlie Clark for 59 (86 balls)(10x4), 171-5.

Ross Bretherton replaced Wright, Declan Clarkin claimed his third wicket Ned Patterson caught by Jeremey Davies for 34 (36 balls)(3x4, 2x6), 182-6. Andrew Makinson came to the wicket and with Bretherton went past the two hundred when Ross Bretherton was stumped by Harry McAleer off Declan Clerkin for 15 (17 balls), 205-7

Will Smith was the next batsman but became Declan Clerkin's fifth wicket caught behind by Harry McAleer for 9 (11 balls)(2x4), 217-8, coming in at ten was Andrew Jacques but with only two runs added lost Andrew Makinson caught by Nathan Bend off Matthew Siddall for 16 (28 balls)(1x4, 1x6), 219-9.

Adam Sexton was number eleven and with Jacques saw Leyland close on 228-9 in their 50 overs, Andrew Jacques was 9no (6 balls) and Adam Sexton 7no (5 balls).

Declan Clerkin took 5-60 from 15 overs, Jeremey Davies 3-40 off 9, Matthew Siddall 1-58 from 15, Hassan Mughal 0-31 off 5 and Michael Rippon 0-38 from 6.

In reply Fleetwood lost an early wicket Declan Clerkin caught by Ross Bretherton off Ned Patterson for 5 (6 balls), 20-1. The Fleetwood number three was Harry McAleer but he lost Jeremy Davies caught by Ned Patterson off Ross Bretherton for 14 (18 balls)(2x4, 1x6), 32-2.

Michael Rippon joined McAleer but was quickly out caught behind by Adam Sexton off Ned Patterson for 0 (7 balls), 42-3. next in was Adam Sharrocks but just when they were looking to be making progress Harry McAleer was bowled by Ross Bretherton for 26 (56 balls)(4x4), 66-4.

The new batsman was Charlie Clark and with Sharrocks took the score to the hundred when Adam Sharrocks was caught behind by Adam Sexton off Andrew Jacques for 25 (45 balls)(4x4), 101-5. Woody Wilson came to the wicket but nine runs later lost Charlie Clark bowled by Andrew Jacques for 18 (39 balls)(4x4), 110-6.

Nathan Bend replaced Clark and supported Wilson until he was stumped by Adam Sexton off Will Smith for 7 (9 balls), 137-7. Matthew Siddall was the new batsman, Andrew Jacques claimed his third wicket to break the stubborn partnership having Woody Wilson lbw for 28 (51 balls)(4x4), 160-8.

Hassan Mughal came to the wicket but quickly became Andrew Jacques next victim caught by Ross Bretherton for 6 (6 balls), 166-9. Andy Drake was in at eleven but with only four runs added Matthew Siddall was caught by Jacob Wright off Will Smith for 13 (16 balls) as Fleetwood were bowled out for 170 in 42.3 overs, Andy Drake was 0no (2 balls).

The Leyland bowling was Andrew Jacques 4-33 from 9.3 overs, Will Smith 2-15 off 5, Ross Bretherton 2-51 from 15, Ned Patterson 2-53 off 12 and Karl Cross 0-10 from 1.

Garstang v Kendal

Garstang won the toss at the Riverside Sports ground and elected to bat first, they got off to a reasonable start but lost two wickets for two runs, Michael Walling was bowled by Dushan Vimukthi for 12 (21 balls)(3x4), 27-1, number three was Matthew Crowther but two runs later he was caught by Bradley Earl off Louis Backhouse for 0 (4 balls), 29-2.

Joseph Pearson joined Tom Higson and they were going well until Dushan Vimukthi took two wickets in three balls, Joseph Pearson was the first caught by Darren Nightingale for 13 (27 balls)(3x4), 65-3, two balls later new batsman Michael Wellings was bowled for 0 (2 balls), 65-4.

Sumit Ruikar replaced Wellings but with only ten runs added he became another Dushan Vimukthi victim caught by Bradley Earl for 0 (5 balls), 75-5, disaster struck for the home side for one run later Tom Higson became Dushan Vimukthi's fifth wicket lbw for 47 (71 balls)(6x4, 2x6), 76-6.

Ian Walling and Dan Curwem were the new batsmen, Vimukthi struck again having Dan Curwen caught by Freddie Fallows for 10 (21 balls)(2x4), 96-7. Ernie Collinson joined Walling but four runs later Ian Walling was bowled by Christopher Miller for 14 (19 balls)(3x4), 100-8.

Corey Cater was number ten and with Collinson slowly moved the score along until Corey Cater was out lbw to Christopher Miller for 12 (39 balls)(2x4), 128-9.

Joe Barlow was number eleven and was last man out caught and bowled by Christopher Miller for 2 (10 balls) as Garstang were bowled out for 130 in 44.4 oers with Ernir Collinson 16no (50 balls).

Dushan Vimukthi took 6-20 from 15 overs, Christopher Miller 3-42 off 12.4, Louis Backhouse 1-32 from 6, Freddie Fallows 0-11 off 7 and Sam Sharp 0-25 from 4.

The Kendal reply got off to a bad start losing both openers cheaply, Darren Nightingale was the first to go caught by Michael Walling off Sumit Ruikar for 0 (3 balls), 1-1, Maximus Winskill quickly followed lbw to Cory Cater for 3 (5 balls), 7-2.

Finlay Richardson and Dushan Vimukthi were the batsmen with the task of rebuilding the innings, they were making steady progress when Dushan Vimukthi was out lbw to Sumit Ruikar for 16 (25 balls)(2x4, 1x6), 33-3.

Freddie Fallows joined Richardson and were going well until Joe Barlow took two wickets in three balls, Finlay Richardson was caught by Ernie Collinson for 41 (36 balls)(7x4, 1x6), 80-4, two balls later new batsman Bradley Earl was bowled for 0 (2 balls), 80-5.

James Bowman came to the wicket but in the next over Sumit Ruikar took two wickets in two balls, he bowled Freddie Fallows for 19 (17 balls)(2x4), 84-6, next ball incoming batsman Harry Temperton was bowled for 0 (1 ball), 84-7.

James Bowman had a new partner in Sam Sharp but once again two Kendal wickets fell on the same score, James Bowman became Sumit Ruikar's fifth wicket caught by Ian Walling for 5 (7 balls), 91-8. in the next over Sam Sharp was caught behind by Matthew Crowther for 2 (9 balls), 91-9.

The Kendal innings came to a close on 95 all out 19.4 overs with Joe Barlow bowling Louis Backhouse for 0 (9 balls), Christopher Miller was 4no (6 balls). This was Kendal's first defeat of the season

The Garstang boewing was Sumit Ruikar 5-43 from 10 overs, Joe Barlow 4-15 off 4.4 and Corey Cater 1-35 from 5.

Longridge v Fulwood & Broughton

Longridge won the toss at the Newsham Memorial ground and took first knock, they got off to a good start with Taariq Chiecktey leading the way, he lost his partner Joshua Mullin bowled by Khalil Patel for 9 (12 balls), 33-1, number three was Tom Howarth but he soon became Khalil Patel's second wicket bowled for 1 (16 balls), 43-2.

Zac Christie joined Chiecktey and they began to make progress until Simon Kerrigan was introduced into the attack and in his second over had Taariq Chiecktey caught by Matt Smith for 54 (51 balls)(11x4), 74-3. Luke Platt came to the wicket but lost Zac Christie caught by Lewis Wellings off Khalil Patel for 16 (36 balls)(3x4), 85-4.

Rob Hollinhurst replaced Christie and with Luke Platt began making good progress, with their partnership on 105 Rob Hollinghurst was caught by Matt Smith off Simon Kerrigan for 50 (68 balls)(9 x4), 190-4.

Zach Proctor was the new batsman but was quickly out caught by Ewen Mansford off Jon Fenton for 4 (8 balls), 203-6, Ollie Mullin was next in but fell bowled by Simon Kerrigan for 3 (8 balls), 209-7.

Jake Durnell was the incoming batsman and with Luke Platt saw Longridge close on 226-7 in their 50 overs, Luke Platt was 58no (100 balls)(6x4) and Jake Durnell 9no (5 balls).

The Fulwood & Broughton bowling was Simon Kerrigan 3-39 from 15 overs, Khalil Patel 3-84 off 15, Jon Fenton 1-67 from 14, Ewen Mansford --12 off 2 and Lewis Wellings 0-23 from 4.

The visitors got off to a brilliant reply, the openers laying a great foundation with a partnership of 101 broke with Tom Howarth bowling Ewen Mansford for 26 (43 balls)(5x4), 101-1.

In came Ben Parkinson at three but soon lost opener Matt Smith caught by Luke Platt off Tom Howarth for 58 (49 balls)(9x4, 2x6), 104-2. Simon Kerrigan was in next and was keeping the scoreboard ticking over until Tom Howarth claimed his third wicket Ben Parkinson caught by Zach Proctor for 19 (30 balls)(3x4), 128-3.

James McWilliam joined Kerrigan and they were going very well until Jake Durnell gave the hosts some hope with two wickets, he had James McWilliam caught by Zac Christie for 28 (31 balls)(3x4, 2x6), 192-4, seven runs later he took the prize wicket of Simon Kerrigan caught behind by Taariq Chiecktey for 45 (60 balls)(7x4), 199-5.

We now had two new batsmen Usama Abrar and Lewis Wellings, they were within three runs of victory when Usama Abrar was caught by Zach Proctor off Jacob Proctor for 18 (31 balls)(3x4), 224-6.

Cameron Port replaced Abrar and with Lewis Wellings saw the visitors to victory on 227-6 in 42.4 overs with Lewis Wellings 8no (15 balls) and Cameron Port 2no (1 ball).

For Longridge Tom Howarth took 3-40 from 10.4 overs, Jake Durnell 2-52 off 15, Jacob Proctor 1-54 from 7, Zach Proctor 0-13 off 1, Ollie Mullin 0-26 from 2 and Jonathan Millward 0-42 off 7.

Netherfield v Blackpool

Netherfield won the toss at Parkside Road and chose to bat first, they got off to a bad start losing both openers for 15 runs, Ben Barrow was first to go caught by Andrew Needham off Jamie Thomson for 2 (3 balls), 9-1, Reece Irving followed caught by Kasim Munir off Matthew Grindley for 11 (13 balls)(2x4), 15-2.

The two new batsmen were at three Cole Mcconchie and four John Huck, Mcconchie lead the way but with the score on 59 John Huck was caught behind by Ben Howarth off Jamie Thomson for 16 (27 balls)(2x4), 59-3. Richard Everett joined Mcconchie and they had a partnership of 105, Cole Mcconchie had just reached his century when Richard Everrett was out lbw to Nate White for 26 (71 balls), 164-4.

Josh Dixon replaced Everett and was leading the way when Cole Mcconchie was caught by Matthew Grindley off Jamie Thomson for 126 (125 balls)(10x4, 4x6), 230-5. Will Beeden was next in and carried on keeping the scoreboard moving along, he was out on the last ball of the innings caught by Cameron Brookes off Matthew Grindley for 17 (14 balls)(2x4) as Netherfield closed on 279-6 in their 50 overs, Josh Dixon was 52no (47 balls)(2x4, 1x6).

For Blackpool Jamie Thomson took 3-104 from 15 overs, Matthew Grindley 2-68 off 15, Nate White 1-37 from 10, Matthew Taaffe 0-26 off 4 and Dylan Henshall 0-37 from 6.

The visitors got off to a good start reaching 52 when Matt Jackson had Ben Howarth caught behind by Will Beeden for 19 (19 balls)(4x4), 52-1, Cole Mcconchie was brought on to bowl and in his first over had Dylan Henshall lbw for 33 (23 balls)(4x4), 54-2.

Andrew Needham was number three and was joined by Matthew Taaffe, Oli Wileman was introduced into the attack and in his first over had Matthew Taaffe caught by John Huck for 10 (21 balls)(2x4), 72-3. Kasim Munir was the new batsman but he became wicket number two for Oli Wileman caught by Richard Everett for 4 (22 balls), 98-4.

Stuart Ashford was Andrew Needham's new partner but disaster struck for the visitors losing four wickets on the same score. Andrew Needham was bowled by Cole Mcconchie for 40 (57 balls)(4x4), 117-5, Stuart Ashford was next out another Wileman victim bowled for 5 (25 balls), 117-6. In the next over new man Tom Myerscough was caught by Isaac Medhurst off Cole Mcconchie for 0 (4 balls),117-7.

Matthew Grindley and Nate White were the new batsmen, Oli Wileman soon accounted for Matthew Grindley caught by Cole Mcconchie for 0 (7 balls), 117-8. Cameron Brookes came to the wicket and with Nate White added 20 runs when he became wicket number five for Oli Wileman caught by John Huck for 5 (22 balls), 137-9.

Number eleven was Jamie Thomson and two runs later was bowled by Oli Wileman for 2 (4 balls) as Blackpool were bowled out for 139 in 38.5 overs with Nate White 15no (29 balls).

Oli Wileman took 6-34 from 12.5 overs, Cole Mcconchie 3-32 off 14, Matt Jackson 1-26 from 7 and Iswaac Medhurst 0-43 off 5.

Settle v Chorley

Settle won the toss at the Marshfield ground and asked the visitors to bat first, Chorley lost both openers with the score on 12, Miller Childs was caught by John Davidson off Eddy Read for 3 (22 balls), 12-1, fellow opener Alfie Dobson was bowled by Gautam Waghela for 8 (24 balls), 12-2.

The two new batsmen were Edwin Moulton and Edward Moore, they kept the score moving steadily, Amar Ullah was brought into the attack and in his first over had Edward Moore caught by Benjamin Hulse for 14 (33 balls), 38-3, Maxwell Seedall was next in but with only seven runs added lost Edwin Moulton caught by Amar Ullah off Will Davidson for 12 (57 balls), 45-4.

Will Moulton joined Seedall but once again Amar Ullah made the breakthrough trapping Maxwell Seedall lbw for 16 (27 balls), 65-5. Kieran Yould was the new batsman and with Moulton took the score to 102 when Will Moulton was caught behind by Noah Smith off Amar Ullah for 24 (32 balls)(4x4), 102-6.

Joseph Tiffin came to the wicket, Kieran Yould was scoring at a a run a ball until he fell caught by Will Vause off Gautam Waghele for 30 (30 balls)(3x4), 126-7. new man James Dunn three runs later lost Joseph Tiffin lbw to Amar Ullah for 9 (20 balls), 129-8.

Jame Dunn had a new partner in Ben Simpkins and they moved the score along nicely until the last over when Ben Simpkins was caught behind by Noah Smith off Will Davidson for 31 (29 balls)(1x4, 3x6), number eleven Sam Steeple came in and with James Dun saw Chorley close on 194-9 in their 50 overs, James Dunn was 28no (27 balls)(2x4, 1x6) and Sam Steeple 1no (1 ball).

The Settle bowling was Amar Ullah 4-80 from 15, Gautam Waghela 2-33 off 15, Will Davidson 2-45 from 9 and Eddy Read 1 for 27 off 11.

The Settle opening pair gave them a good start, Edwin Moulton making the breakthrough bowling Will Davidson for 20 (26 balls), 42-1, number three was Zane Nirodi, Sam Steeple came on to bowl and in his first over had John Davidson caught behind by Ben Simpkins for 27 (21 balls)(4x4, 1x6), 62-2.

Gautam Waghela was next in and lead the way, Joseph Tiffin was introduced into the attack and in his first over caught and bowled Zane Nirodi for 4 (23 balls), 84-3.

Amar Ullah joined Waghela and they had nearly doubled the score when Amar Ullah was caught behind by Ben Simpkins off Edwin Moulton for 27 (37 balls)(3x4), 166-4, Tom Davidson was the new batsman and was keeping the scoreboard ticking over until he was out lbw to Edwin Moulton for 11 (16 balls), 178-5.

Seventeen runs with five wickets left looked like a stroll in the park but disaster for the hosts as new man James Snowden was run out by Miller Childs for 2 (8 balls), 186-6. Will Vause replaced Snowden but four runs short of victory he fell lbw to Edwin Mouton for 0 (4 balls), 191-7, Noah Smith came in but two runs later he was Edwin Moulton's fifth wicket bowled for 0 (7 balls), 193-8.

Number ten Eddy Read was Waghele's next partner and saw him hit the winning runs as Settle closed on 197-8 in 38.2 over with Gautam Waghela 78no (88 balls)(13 x4) and Eddy Read 0no (3 balls).

For Chorley Edwin Moulton 5-40 from 11 overs, Sam Steeple 1-16 off 6, Joseph Tiffin 1-36 from 4, Miller Childs 0-12 off 2, Will Moulton 0-16 from 3, Edward Moore 0-17 off 4 and James Dunn 0-46 from 8.2

Barrow c Carlisle

Barrow won the toss at the Ernest Pass Memorial ground and decided to bat first, they got off to a bad start losing four early wickets, Nico Watt with only the second ball of the match caught and bowled Drew Postlethwaite for 0 (2 balls), 0-1, Simon Chadd was the next to go bowled by Michael Slack for 0 (6 balls), 6-2. One run later Toby Mowat was also bowled by Michael Slater for 6 (14 balls), 7-3.

Dikshant Vairagi came in but was quickly out bowled by Nico Watt for 9 (7 balls)(2x4), 15-3, Sam Dutton and Jack Singleton were the batsmen with the task of rebuilding the innings, they were going very well until Ben Davidson was brought on to bowl and in his first over bowled Sam Dutton for 59 (100 balls)(6x4, 1x6), 109-5.

Nisanth Arun was next in, disaster struck for the hosts losing five wickets for three runs, Jack Singleton was caught behind by Tom Benn off Johnny Westgarth for 33 (95 balls)(3x4), 122-6, Nisanth Arun followed without any addition to the score bowled by Ben Davidson for 3 (12 balls), 122-7.

The two new batsmen were Cameron McDougall and Daryl Wearing, two runs later Daryl Wearing was bowled by Ben Davidson for 1 (12 balls), 125-8, Sam Henderson came in but lost Cameron Dougall caught by Ben Davidson off Johnny Westgarth for 0 (12 balls), 125-9. Gary Collins was in at eleven but fell caught by Brodie Glendinning off Johnny Westgarth for 0 (3 balls) as Barrow were bowled out for 124 in 44 overs, Sam Henderson was 0no (1 ball).

The Carlisle bowling was Johnny Westgarth 3-14 from 7 overs, Ben Davidson 3-14 off 7, Michael Slack 2-25 from 6, Nico Watt 2-40 off 40, Brodie Glendinning 0-5 from 4 and Ben Purdham 0-22 off 9.

In reply Carlisle lost an early wicket in Zephania Arinaitwe caught by Simon Chadd off Daryl Wearing for 7 (8 balls), 9-1. in at three was Tom Benn but lost opener Marc Brown caught by Dikshant Vairagi off Sam Henderson for 12 (16 balls)(2x4), 27-2.

Michael Slack came to the wicket but was soon out bowled by Sam Henderson for 0 (5 balls), 27-3. Ben Davidson was the new batsman but with only seven runs added he was caught by Dikshant Vairagi off Daryl Wearing for 2 (4 balls), 34-4.

Matthew Brown joined Tom Benn and they were going along nicely when Matthew Brown was caught by Simon Chadd off Sam Dutton for 21 (27 balls)(3x4, 1x6), 65-5. Logan Edgar replaced Brown and with Tom Benn saw the visitors to victory closing on 127-5 in 30.5 overs. Tom Benn was 55no (99 balls)(7x4) and Logan Edgar 20no (27 balls).

For Barrow Daryl Wearing took 2-24 from 9 overs, Sam Henderson 2-33 off 8, Sam Dutton 1-11 from 3, Gary Collins 0-7 off 3, Toby Mowat 0-20 off 1.5 and Dikshant Vairagi 0-29 from 6

Carnforth v St Annes

St Annes won the toss at Lodge Quarry and invited the host to bat first, Freddie Whatmuff was the first to go bowled by Rory Urquhart for 8 (26 balls), 16-1, number three was Ryan Nelson but he soon lost his partner Lewis Spurr bowled Lukman Vahaluwala for 5 (20 balls), 21-2.

James Park Johnson was the new batsman and with Nelson kept the scoreboard ticking over until Ryan Nelson was caught Nathan Bolus off Lukman Vahaluwala for 29 (61 balls)(5x4), 72-3. Bradley Hoyle replaced Nelson, Thomas Bradley was introduced into the attack with immediate effect having James Park Johnson lbw for 33 (65 balls)(3x4, 2x6), 109-4.

Dylan Conroy joined Hoyle but Thomas Bradley struck again bowling Bradley Hoyle for 20 (30 balls)(4x4), 121-5. Adam Hornby was next in and quickly became wicket number three for Thomas Bradley bowled for 0 (5 balls), 127-6.

Tom Parkinson came to the wicket and with the score approaching the 150 lost Dylan Conroy stumped by James Bradley off Promod Maduwantha for 17 (28 balls)(2x4), 149-7. Sam Woodburn was the new batsman but disaster for the hosts as he was run out by Ryan Birkman for 3 (10 balls), 156-8.

In at ten was Alfie Hill and one run later he was bowled by Promod Maduwantha for 1 (5 balls), 157-9. number eleven was James Parkinson and with Tom Parkinson saw Carnforth close on 186-9 in their 50 overs, Tom Parkinson was 34no (37 balls)(5x4) and James Parkinson 9no (14 balls).

The St Annes bowling was Promod Maduwantha 3-20 from 15 overs, Thomas Bradley 3-34 off 6, Lukman Vahaluwala 1-30 from 8, Rory Urquhart 1-48 off 11, Ryan Birkman 0-22 from 5 and Alex Urquhart 0-28 off 5.

St Annes got off to a good start, Nathan Armstrong was the first man out bowled by Freddie Whatmuff for 34 (20 balls)(5x4, 2x6), 40-1, Nathan Bolus came in at three but lost Lukman Vahaluwala caught by Freddie Whatmuff off Tom Parkinson for 25 (36 balls)(5x4), 63-2.

Promod Maduwantha joined Bolus but he soon lost his partner Nathan Bolus caught behind by Lewis Spurr off Dylan Conroy for 11 (28 balls)(2x4), 77-3.

Thomas Bradley came in next and with Maduwantha were going very well until Thomas Bradley fell caught by Sam Wooodburn off Tom Parkinson for 16 (33 balls)(3x4), 145-4.

Ashton Charles was the new batsman and with Maduwantha saw the visitors to victory closing on 187-4 in 40.4 overs, Promod Maduwantha was 92no (94 balls)(18 x4) and Ashton Charles 5no (35 balls).

Tom Parkinson took 2-33 from 11.4 overs, Dylan Conroy 1-36 off 9, Freddie Whatmuff 1-52 from 7, James Parkinson 0-12 off 3, Alfie Hill 0-17 from 4 and Sam Woodburn 0-37 off 6.

Mawdesley v Euxton

Euxton won the toss at Rectory Field and chose to bat first, they got off to a great start with a stand of 84, Neil O'Malley made the breakthrough bowling Ben Houghton for 42 (51 balls)(9x4), 84-1, James Bone was the visitors number three and with Josh Tolley took control. Josh Tolley reached his century, when their partnership was 136 James Bone was caught by Neil O'Malley off Lee Berrie for 64 (76 balls)(9x4, 1x6), 220-2.

Hakeem Perryman was in next but was soon out caught by Aneeq Hassan off Lewis McKinnon for 7 (8 balls), 243-3. Jack Shovelton came to the wicket and went on the attack, there were only ten balls remaining when Josh Tolley was caught by Daniel Unsworth off Christopher Andrews for 128 (139 balls)(13x4, 5x6), 287-4.

Max Harper replaced Tolley but lost Jack Shovelton with three balls to go caught by Ben Munslow off Neil O'Malley for 41 (20 balls)(24, 5x6), 293-5, Jack Morgan was the new batsman and with Max Harper saw Euxton close on 300-5 in their 50 overs, Max Harper was 3no (4 balls) and Jack Morgan 6no (2 balls).

For Mawdesley Neil O'Malley took 2-57 from 10 overs, Christopher Andrews 1-11 off 2, Lewis McKinnon 1-75 from 15, Lee Berrie 1-88 off 13, Ben Munslow 0-23 from 2 and Joshua Adamson 0-46 off 8.

The Mawdesley reply did not start well losing Lee Berrie stumped by Danny Curtis off Elliot Mackrael for 5 (3 balls), 12-1, Aneeq Hassan came in at three and with Nathan Trengove were going along nicely until Nathan Trengove was caught by Max Harper off Joseph Barker for 33 (35 balls)(7 x4), 76-3.

Daniel Unsworth was in next but was soon out lbw to James Bone for 3 (18 balls), 76-3, Fyffe Dennis joined Hassan but five runs later Aneeq Hassan was caught by James Bone off Louis Sweeney for 32 (45 balls)(5x4), 81-4.

Oliver Ellicott was next in and with Dennis were making good progress, Joseph Barker made the breakthrough bowling Oliver Ellicott for 24 (46 balls)(5x4), 136-6. Lewis McKinnon came to the wicket and continued the chase until Fyffe Dennis was caught by Jack Shovelton off Josh Tolley for 42 (58 balls)(6x4, 1x6), 163-6.

The new batsman was Ben Munslow but with only six runs added James Bone took two wickets in two balls, firstly Lewis McKinnon was caught by Hakeem Perryman for 10 (29 balls), 169-7. next ball incoming batsman Christopher Andrews was caught by Josh Tolley for 0 (1 ball), 169-8.

Joshua Adamson joined Ben Munslow but disaster for the hosts Joshua Adamson was run out by Hakeem Perryman for 1 (4 balls), 173-9. Last man Neil O'Malley with Munslow took the score to 200 when Neil O'Malley was caught and bowled by Josh Tolly as Mawdesley were bowled out for 200 in 46.1 overs with Ben Munslow 21no (29 balls)(2x4, 1x6).

The Euxton bowling was James Bone 3-35 from 13 overs, Josh Tolley 2-33 off 6.1, Joseph Barker 2-78 from 15, Louis Sweeney 1-22 off 6 and Elliot Mackrael 1-23 from 6.

Thornton Cleveleys v Great Eccleston

Great Eccleston won the toss at Illawalla and elected to bat first, they got off to a bad start losing Matthew Lawrenson caught by Josh Borrell off Joshua Rolinson for 0 (4 balls), 9-1. Alexander Rhodes was in at three and with Nisanth Nithian began to make good progress, their partnership was broken when Alexander Rhodes was caught behind by Sam Curwen off Joshua Rolinson for 37 (51 balls)(8x4), 84-2.

Mohamed Nadeem was in next and he continued keeping the scoreboard ticking over, Joshua Rolinson was agin the man to make the breakthrough having Nisanth Nithian caught by J Sackfield for 58 (71 balls)(12x4), 113-3.

Alex Swale was the new batsman but was soon out lbw to Joshua Sackfield for 0 (9 balls), 120-4. Joe McMillan replaced Swale and with Nadeem kept the runs coming until Mohamed Nadeem was caught by Joshua Rolinson off Joshua Sackfield for 39 (58 balls)(6x4), 167-5, Peter Whittle was in next but was quickly out lbw to Joshua Sackfield for 1 (4 balls), 170-6.

The incoming batman was Will Turnbull who was stumped by Sam Curwen off Jake Apperley for 4 (17 balls), 182-7. Joe McMillan had a new partner Phil Booth and they saw the visitors close on 252-7 in their 50 overs with Joe McMillan 50no (72 balls)(4x4, 2x6) and Phil Booth 34no (20 balls)(2x4, 3x6).

The Thornton Cleveleys bowling was Joshua Sackfield 3-57 from 11 overs, Joshua Rolinson 3-62 off 15, Jake Apperley 1-39 from 10, Christopher Hedges 0-27 off 2, Cameron Chisholm 0-29 from 3 and Daniel Howard 0-34 off 9.

The hosts got off to a brilliant start the first wicket falling on the dreaded nelson, Joshua Sackfield caught behind by Chris Saunders off Will Turnbull for 32 (64 balls)(4x4, 1x6), 111-1. number three was Sam Curwen but he was soon out lbw to Will Turnbull for 0 (5 balls), 118-2.

Jacob Sackfield joined Josh Borrell, Josh Borrell reached his century and then went on with Jacob Sackfield to hit the winning runs as Thornton Cleveleys closed on 255-2 in 48.4 overs with Josh Borrell 140no (159 balls)(22x4) and Jacob Sackfield was 55no (65 balls)(5x4).

For Great Eccleston Will Turnbull took 2-24 from 5 overs, Nisanth Nithian 0-22 off 3, Peter Whittle 0-26 from 3, Phil Booth 0-55 off 13.4, Jim Proctor 0-55 from 12 and Mohamed Nadeem 0-59 off 12.

Vernon Carus v Penwortham

Vernon Carus won the toss at Factory Lane and took first knock, they lost an early wicket Hasan Zaman caught by Nathan Walmsley off Ryan Maddock for 2 (21 balls), 19-1. The hosts number three was Ian Dunn and with Will Adams steadily built up the score until Will Adams was caught behind by Robbie Sumner off Joseph Bradshaw for 39 (96 balls)(6x4), 126-3.

Jaxon Cornford joined Ian Dunn and they continued to make progress, Ryan Roberts made the breakthrough having Ian Dunn caught by Martyn James Brierley for 66 (105 balls)(10 x4, 1x6), 151-3. next in was David Fisher who was stumped by Robbie Sumner off Nathan Walmsley for 6 (9 balls), 164-4. Jamie Rigby came to the wicket but without any addition to the score lost Jaxon Cornford caught by Ryan Dimasi off Ryan Roberts for 20 (39 balls)(2x4), 164-5.

Next in was Paul Chapman Jnr, disaster struck for the hosts losing four wickets for 6 runs, Nathan Walmsley took two wickets in an over, Jamie Rigby was caught by Joseph Bradshaw for 1 (4 balls), 172-6, incoming batsman Jacob Holland was also caught by Joseph Bradshaw for 0 (3 balls), 172-7.

Mohammad Patel replaced Holland but with only four runs added lost Paul Chapman Jnr caught by Ryan Maddock off Ryan Roberts for 9 (8 balls), 176-8. Alan Maguire came in at ten and saw Mohammad Patel bowled by Ryan Maddock for 3 (7 balls), 178-9.

Number eleven was Fraser Young and with Alan Maguire saw Vernon Carus close on 189-9 in their 50 overs with Alan Maguire 4no (5 balls) and Fraser Young 8no (9 balls).

The Penwortham bowling was Ryan Roberts 3-35 from 14 overs, Nathan Walmsley 3-57 off 15, Ryan Maddock 2-37 from 12, Joseph Bradshaw 1-33 off 7 and Ed Cox 0-21 from 2.

The visitors reply got off to a good start, Jonathon Hothersall was the first man out caught by Fraser Young off Muhammad Patel for 26 (37 balls)(6x4), 39-1. Ryan Dimasi was in at three and was scoring at a run a ball until he was caught by Muhammad Patel off Jaxon Cornford for 14 (16 balls)(3x4), 58-2.

Joseph Bradshaw joined Robbie Sumner but he was soon out caught by Jacob Holland off Jaxon Cornford for 4 (9 balls), 64-3. next in was Ryan Maddock but he became Jaxon Cornford's next victim caught by Jacob Holland for 3 (22 balls), 80-4.

MartynJames Brierley replaced Maddock but nine runs later he was caught by Paul Chapman off Muhammad Patel for 4 (14 balls), 89-5, Nathan Walmsley was Robbie Sumner's new partner but on reaching the hundred Robbie Sumner's fighting innings came to a close bowled by Muhammad Patel for 35 (74 balls)(3x4), 104-6.

It was not looking good for the visitors six wickets down and 87 runs required, Harish Hamsa came to the wicket but fell caught by Jaxon Cornford off Muhammad Patel for 4 (8 balls),, 114-7. Ian Walmsley Jnr was the new atsman and with Nathan Walmsley were going well until Nathan Walmsley was caught by Muhammad Patel off Fraser Young for 27 (41 balls)(4x4, 1x6), 144-8.

Ryan Roberts came to the wicket and with Ian Walmsley Jnr saw Penwortham to victory closing on 190-8 in 46 overs, Ian Walmsley Jnr was 34no (42 balls)(1x4, 3x6) and Ryan Roberts 13no (25 balls)(2x4).

For Vernon Carus Muhammad Patel took 4-43 from 11 overs, Jaxon Cornford 3-42 off 13, Fraser Young 1-14 from 4, Ian Dunn 0-22 off 4, David Fisher 0-29 from 7 and Jacob Holland 0-36 off 7.
