The Northern Cricket League Review

The Northern Premier League 2025 season Round 15 saw Kendal win the battle of the top two with their win against Netherfield, Garstang's win at Leyland moves them into second and Blackpool's win at Fulwood & Broughton lifts them to fourth.

Chorley beat Longridge and Settle's defeat of Fleetwood see's Fleetwood relegated.

In Divsion 2 leaders St Annes beat Euxton in an exciting game, Carlisle beat Carnforth and move into second. Penwortham beat Mawdesley.

Thornton Cleveleys won at home against Barrow and Great Eccleston did the same against Vernon Carus.

DIVISION ONE

LEAGUE MATCHES: ROUND 15

Chorley v Longridge

Longridge won the toss at Windsor Park and elected to bat first, they got off to a terrible start losing three wickets with the score on 13, Joshua Mullin was run out by Will Moulton for 0 (6 balls), 13-1, number three Tom Howarth followed two balls later bowled by Will Moulton for 0 (2 balls), 13-2.

Zac Christie came to the wicket but in the following over Taariq Chiecktey was caught by Sam Steeple off Miller Childs for 13 (11 balls)(3x4), 13-3. Luke Platt was next in and with Christie set about rebuilding the innings, They successfully did that with Zac Christie taking the lead until Sam Steeple broke their partnership having Luke Platt caught by Maxwell Seedall for 11 (30 balls), 70-2.

Rob Hollinghurst replaced Platt and with Christie took the score past the hundred, James Dunn was brought on to bowl and in his third over had Rob Hollinghurst caught by Maxwell Seedall for 21 (34 balls)(3x4), 111-5.

Joshua Holt Jnr was next in but he soon lost Zac Christie caught behind by Ben Simpkins off Edwin Moulton for 49 (96 balls)(8x4), 116-6. Zach Proctor was the new batsman and with Holt Jnr was keeping the scoreboard ticking over. Sam Steeple again made the breakthrough bowling Joshua Holt Jnr for 5 (19 balls), 133-7.

Kieran McClintock was the incoming batsman, disaster struck for the visitors losing two wickets for one run, Zac Proctor was stumped by Ben Simpkins off Will Moulton for 24 (37 balls)(5x4), 156-7. one run later Kieran McClintock was caught by Miller Childs off Stuart Naden for 4 (12 balls), 157-9.

We now had two new batsmen Jonathan Millward and Jake Durnell and they dug in and steadily moved the score along until Jonathan Millward was bowled by Edwin Moulton for 8 (22 balls) as Longridge were bowled out for 182 in 47.5 overs with Jake Durnell 11no (25 balls)(2x4).

All the Chorley bowlers took a wicket, Sam Steeple took 2-27 from 10 overs, Will Moulton 2-43 off 12, Edwin Moulton 2-43 from 11.5, James Dunn 1-17 off 4, Stuart Naden 1-21 from 6 and Miller Childs 1-25 off 4.

The Chorley reply got off to a steady start then it all went wrong losing four wickets for one run, Alfie Dobson was the first man out caught by Luke Platt off Jonathan Millward for 14 (14 balls)(3x4), 30-1. in at three was Edwin Moulton and he was next out caught behind by Taariq Chiecktey off Kieran McClintock for 0 (3 balls), 32-2. opener Miller Childs followed caught by Rob Hollinghurst off Jonathan Millward for 16 (22 balls)(3x4), 32-3. number four Edward Moore was next out caught behind by Taariq Chiecktey off Kieran McClintock for 0 (11 balls), 32-4. we now had two new batsmen Maxwell Seedall and Will Moulton, they moved the score along then history repeated it's self losing four wickets for three runs.

The collapse started with Will Moulton falling lbw to Jake Durnell for 14 (17 balls), 58-5. Kieran Yould came to the wicket but lost Maxwell Seedall caught by Zach Proctor off Jake Durnell for 11 (37 balls)(2x4), 60-6. next in was Stuart Naden but with only one run added Kieran Yould was caught by Rob Hollinghurst off Jonathan Millward for 0 (5 balls), 61-7.

Ben Simpkins replaced Yould but quickly became wicket number four for Jonathan Millward bowled for 0 (4 balls), 61-8. James Dunn joined Stuart Naden and with Dunn leading the way kept the scoreboard ticking over, Tom Howarth was introduced into the attack and broke the partnership having Stuart Naden caught behind by Taariq Chiecktey for 8 (22 balls), 92-9.

Number eleven was Sam Steeple and with Dunn continued the fight until Jake Durnell bowled James Dunn for 48 (38 balls)(2x4, 5x6) as Chorley were 125 all out in 29.5 overs with Sam Steeple 0no (9 balls).

The Longridge bowling was Jonathan Millward 4-42 from 11 overs, Jake Durnell 3-37 off 8.5, Kieran McClintock 2-19 from 6 and Tom Howarth 1-26 off 4.

This victory closes the gap to the other teams in their fight against relegation.

Fleetwood v Settle

Fleetwood won the toss at Broadwater and batted first making 182-8 in their 50 overs with Michael Rippon top scoring with 95no. there were also contributions from Hassan Mughal 15no, Charlie Clark 15, Adam Sharrocks 13 and Nathan Bend 11.

Amar Ullah took 4-46 from 14 overs with Eddy Read 2-36 off 11, Gautam Waghela 1-19 from 11, Will Davidson 1-50 off 11 and Tom Davidson 0-31 from 3.

In reply Settle knocked off the runs in 39.2 overs closing on 183-4, Gautam Waghela lead the way with 47 supported by Tom Davidson 30no, Amar Ullah 30no (retired hurt), John Davidson 23 and Zane Nirodi 13.

The Fleetwood bowling was Hassan Mughal 2-61 from 9, Joel Baines 1-26 off 6, Matthew Siddall 1-36 from 15, Michale Rippon 0-23 off 5 and Jeremy Davies 0-32 from 4.2.

Fulwood & Broughton v Blackpool

Fulwood & Broughton won the toss at the Highfield ground and chose to bat first, They lost both openers early, Ewen Mansford was caught by Andrew Needham off Matthew Grindley for 0 off the second ball of the game for 0, 0-1, Matt Smith was then bowled by Ali Munir for 3 (5 balls), 4-2.

Ben Parkinson was in at three and Simon Kerrigan four, they began the rebuild of the innings, Matthew Grindley claimed his second wicket Simon Kerrigan caught by Kasim Munir for 3 (26 balls), 25-3. James McWilliam was in next and with Ben Parkinson were making progress, Geeth Kumara was brought into the attack and with his first ball had James McWilliam lbw for 2 (12 balls), 46-4.

Lewis Wellings replaced McWilliam but was soon out caught by Andrew Needham off Geeth Kumara for 8 (15 balls)(2x4), 60-5, Cameron Port came to the wicket but two runs later lost Ben Parkinson lbw to Matthew Grindley for 21 (48 balls)(3x4), 62-6.

Dom Jackson was the new batsman and he supported Cameron Port, he was next out bowled by Geeth Kumara for 1 (8 balls), 79-7. Khalil Patel was next in and with Port were making good progress until Josh Boyne was brought on to bowl and in his second over bowled Khalil Petal for 20 (45 balls), 115-8.

James Lupton came in at ten but one run later disaster for the hosts Cameron Port was run out by Kasim Munir for 23 (38 balls)(2x4), 116-9. number eleven was Marcus Allen, the Fulwood & Broughton innings closed on 120 all out in 36.4 overs with James Lupton caught behind by Ben Howarth off Josh Boyne for 4 (16 balls) with Marcus Allen 0no (7 balls).

For Blackpool Geeth Kumara took 3-34 from 15 overs, Matthew Grindley 3-50 off 15, Josh Boyne 2-5 from 3.4 and Ali Munir 1-21 off 6.

Blackpool in reply got off to a good start then lost both openers, Dylan Henshall was the first to go caught by James Luton off Lewis Wellings for 31 (21 balls)(4x4, 2x6), 39-1. two runs later Ben Howarth followed caught behind by James McWilliam off Khalil Patel for 9 (17 balls), 41-2.

The two new batsmen were Andrew Needham and Geeth Kumara, they had nearly doubled the score when Khalil Patel took two wickets in three balls, Geeth Kumara was bowled for 17 (11 balls)(4x4), 70-3. Josh Boyne replaced Kumara and was out two balls later caught by Ben Parkinson for 4 (2 balls), 74-4.

Kasim Munir joined Needham and they saw the visitors home closing on 124-4 in 19.2 overs, Andrew Needham was 48no (42 balls)(74, 2x6) with Kasim Munir 12no (23 balls)(2x4).

The Fulwood & Broughton bowling was Khalil Patel 3-87 from 10 over, Lewis Wellings 1-22 off 5 and Simon Kerrigan 0-15 from 4.2.

Kendal v Netherfield

It was the match of the day, a local derby and 1st v 2nd in the league, Netherfield won the toss at Shap Road and decided to bat first, they lost two early wickets, Reece Irving bowled by Louis Backhouse for 2 (9 balls), 5-1. Cole Mcconchie was number three but was soon out caught behind by Finlay Richardson off Joe Davies for 6 (5 balls), 15-2.

John Huck joined Ben Barrow and they were going well, Chiraz Khurana made the breakthrough having Ben Barrow caught behind by Finlay Richardson for 25 (48 balls)(4x4), 67-3.

Richard Everett came to the wicket but with only one run added was bowled by Freddie Fallows for 0 (6 balls), 68-4. next in was Josh Dixon but four runs later lost John Huck bowled by Chiraz Khurana for 28 (54 balls)(2x4, 1x6), 72-5.

Will Beeden came in but there follwed a complete collapse of the Netherfield tail, Will Beeden was caught behind by Finlay Richardson for 1 (13 balls), 77-6, Oliver Sanday was the new batsman but lost Josh Dixon bowled by Chiraz Kharana for 5 (21 balls). Oli Wilman replaced Dixon but Chiraz Kurana claimed his fourth wicket Oliver Sanday bowled for 3 (24 balls), 85-8

Isaac Medhurst was in at ten but one run later was out lbw to Freddie Fallows for 0 (4 balls), 86-9. Number eleven Matt Jackson lost his partner Oli Wileman caught and bowled by Christopher Miller for 8 (38 balls) as Netherfield were bowled out for 92 in 37.3 overs with Matt Jackson 0no (3 balls).

All the Kendal bowlers took a wicket lead by Chiraz Kurana with 4-29 from 13 overs, Freddie Fallows took 3-20 off 15, Christopher Miller 1-0 from 0.3, Joe Davies 1-15 off 3 and Louis Backhouse 1-22 from 6.

The Kendal reply got off to a good start then they had a mini collapse, Darren Nightingale was the first man out caught by Josh Dixon off Isaac Medhurst for 16 (26 balls)(1x6), 35-1.

Finlay Richardson was the Kendal number three but with only six runs added he was out lbw to Isaac Medhurst for 0 (4 balls), Isaac Medhurst struck again one run later having opener Maximus Winskill caught behind by Will Beeden for 23 (32 balls)(4x4), 42-3.

Chiraz Kurana and Freddie Fallowas were the new batsmen and they steadied the ship, Cole Mcconchie broke the partnership with victory in sight having Freddie Fallows lbw for 20 (13 balls)(1x4, 2x6), 85-4.

Bradley Earl came to the wicket but with the scores level was bowled by Oli Wileman for 6 (5 balls), James Bowman replaced Earl and saw Khurana hit the winning runs as Kendal closed on 96-5 in 17.2 overs with Chiraz Khurana 29no (23 balls)(6x4) and James Bowman 0no (1 ball).

The Netherfield bowling was Isaac Medhurst 3-25 from 4 overs, Oli Wilman 1-13 off 5, Cole Mcconchie 1-41 from 6.2 and Matt Jackson 0-15 off 2.

The win for the hosts consolidates their championship credentials.

Leyland v Garstang

Garstang won the toss at the Stanning Memorial ground and batted first, Michael Walling and Tom Higson opened with Tom Higson taking the lead, Ned Patterson broke the partnership having Michael Walling caught by Andrew Jacques for 7 (6 balls), 25-1.

Matthew Crowther was Garstang's number three but he was out five runs later bowled by Karl Cross for 5 (5 balls), 30-2, Joseph Pearson was next in but struggled to get off the mark and then was run out by Lloyd Tennant for 1 (30 balls), 65-3, Michael Wellings was the new batsman but he was soon out caught by Alexander Eyre off Ross Bretherton for 6 (8 balls), 72-4.

Sumit Ruikar joined Higson and they moved the score along, Tom Higson had been scoring at nearly a run a ball and was the next man out caught by Lloyd Tennant off Andrew Jacques for 67 (70 balls)(10x4), 112-5. Ian Walling replaced Higson but soon became Ross Bretherton's second victim caught by Ned Patterson for 6 (18 balls), 134-6, Dan Curwen came to the wicket but in the next over without further addition to the score Sumit Ruikar was caught behind by Adam Sexton off Andrew Jacques for 31 (65 balls)(7x4), 134-7.

The incoming batsman was Corey Cater and with Curwen took the score past the 150. Ross Bretherton claimed his third wicket Dan Curwen lbw for 5 (10 balls), 154-8. Danny Gilbert was number 10 and next out caught by Ned Patterson off Andrew Jacques for 4 (17 balls), 166-9.

Number eleven was Joe Barlow but he soon lost his partner Corey Cater caught by James Rounding off Ned Patterson for 27 (35 balls)(3x4) as Garstang were bowled out for 175 in 45.2 overs with Joe Barlow 2no (8 balls).

The Leyland bowling figures were Ross Bretherton 3-50 from 15 overs, Andrew Jacques 3-50 off 12, Ned Patterson 2-40 from 7.2 and Karl Cross 1-32 off 11.

The hosts got off to a bad start losing three early wickets, both openers went on the same score, Alexander Eyre was caught by Tom Higson off Corey Cater for 0 (12 balls), 4-1, fellow opener Karl Cross followed lbw to Sumit Ruikar for 4 (13 balls), 4-2.

Lloyd Tennant came in at three but quickly became Corey Cater next victim caught by Joe Barlow for 2 (13 balls), 8-3. Sam Oldham and Jacob Wright had the task of rebuilding the innings, they were making progress when Sumit Ruikar had Jacob Wright caught by Ian Walling for 5 (7 balls), 25-4.

The incoming batsman was Ned Patterson but he did not fare any better caught by Tom Higson off Sumit Ruikar for 4 (8 balls), 29-5. Ross Bretherton joined Sam Oldham but again before he could get into double figures he was caught behind by Dan Curwen off Corey Cater for 9 (11 balls)(2x4), 46-6.

Andrew Makinson was the new batsman but with only two runs added he was caught and bowled by Corey Cater for 1 (9 balls), 48-7. James Rounding came to the wicket but two runs later Sam Oldham was caught by Joseph Pearson off Sumit Ruikar for 20 (49 balls)(2x4), 50-8.

Sumit Ruikar brought the Leyland innings to an end with two wickets in three balls his fifth and sixth of the innings, He caught and bowled Adam Sexton for 1 (12 balls), 160-9 two balls later Andrew Jacques was caught behind by Sam Curwen for 0 (2 balls) as Leyland were bowled out for 60 in 25 overs with James Rounding 10no (14 balls)(2x4).

Garstang only used two bowlers Sumit Ruikar 6-25 from 13 overs and Corey Cater 4-31 off 12.

This result moved Garstang into second place.

DIVISION TWO

LEAGUE MATCHES: ROUND 1

Carlisle c Carnforth

Carlisle won the toss at Edenside and elected to bat first, Zephania Arinaitwe and Marc Brown gave them a brilliant start with an opening stand of 201. Zephania Arinaitwe reached his century and shortly afterwards was caught Ryan Nelson off Alfie Hill for 112 (92 balls)(12x4, 3x6) 201-1.

Tom Benn was the Carlisle number three, Alfie Hill in his next over took two wickets, Marc Brown was caught by Freddie Whatmuff for 73 (119 balls)(6x4), 210-2, three balls later new man Michael Slack was caught by Dylan Conroy for 0 (3 balls), 210-3.

Ben Davidson joined Tom Benn and they were moving the score along until Tom Benn was caught by Bradley Hoyle off Freddie Whatmuff for 22 (23 balls)(2x4), 241-4. next in was Oliver Spedding, Freddie Whatmuff claimed his second wicket Ben Davidson caught by Dylan Conroy for 23 (30 balls)(1x4, 1x6), 262-5.

We were now in the last five overs with Brodie Glendinning coming to the wicket and going for the runs, he was out in the last over caught by Ryan Nelson off Dylan Conroy for 24 (11 balls)(3x4, 1x6), 301-6.

Jared Khul came out for the last ball and saw Carlisle close on 303-6 in their 50 overs, Oliver Spedding was 26no (23 balls)(3x4) and Jared Khul 0no (1 ball).

For Carnforth Alfie Hill took 3-32 from 7 overs, Freddie Whatmuff 2-62 off 6, Dylan Conroy 1-64 from 11, James Parkinson 0-60 off 11 and Sachithra Serasinghe 0-76 from 15.

Carnforth got off to a steady start, they lost Ryan Nelson caught by Zephania Arinaitwe off Ben Purdham for 10 (21 balls), 24-1, Sachithra Serasinghe was in at three but nine runs later lost Freddie Whatmuff lbw to Nico Watt for 13 (37 balls), 33-2.

Bradley Hoyle was in next and the partnership was growing, Brodie Glendinning was brought on to bowl and with his second ball had Bradley Hoyle caught by Nico Watt for 19 (17 balls)(3x4), Dylan Conroy was the new batsman but the introduction of Johnny Westgarth into the attack saw him bowl Dylan Conroy for 5 (12 balls), 99-4.

Lewis Spurr came to the wicket but disaster for the visitors as both batsmen fell on 134, Sachithia Serasinghe was the first out caught by Zephania Arinaitwe off Ben Davidson for 60 (52 balls)(8x4, 2x6), 134-5. in the next over Johnny Westgarth bowled Oliver Spurr for 11 (29 balls), 134-6.

We now had two new batsmen Adam Hornby and Darren Nelson, Adam Hornby was soon out caught behind by Tom Benn off Brodie Glendinning for 5 (17 balls), 142-7. Louis Potter joined Nelson and they kept the scoreboard ticking over until Johnny Westgarth claimed his third wicket Louis Potter caught by Ben Davidson for 3 (9 balls).

Alfie Hill replaced Potter, Nico Watt retuned to the attack and caught and bowled Alfie Hill for 4 (14 balls), 187-9. in at eleven was James Parkinson but the innings closed three overs later on 201 all out in 45.2 overs with Darren Nelson caught by Brodie Glendinning off Johnny Westgarth for 41 (59 balls)(6x4, 1x6), James Parkinson was 6no (7 balls).

The Carlisle bowling was Johnny Westgarth 4-39 from 13.2 overs, Nico Watt 2-41 off 10, Brodie Glendinning 2-46 from 7, Ben Davidson 1-18 off 6, Ben Purdham 1-33 from 7 and Michael Slack 0-14 off 2.

Great Eccleston v Vernon Carus

Great Eccleston won the toss at Hall Lane and chose to bat first, they lost an early wicket Matthew Lawrenson run out by Fraser Young for 0 without facing a ball, 10-1. Alexander Rhodes was number three and with Nisanth Nithian were going well, Fraser Young broke the partnership trapping Nisanth Nithian lbw for 23 (22 balls)(3x4, 1x6), 78-2.

Mohamed Nadeem came in next but was soon out caught and bowled by Ian Dunn for 12 (8 balls)(2x4), 109-3. Basit Sultan replaced Nadeem but was out caught by Thomas Strange off Ben Thomas for 9 (15 balls), 132-4. Joe McMillan was the new batsman supported Alexander Rhodes who was the main scorer, Ian Dunn claimed his second wicket bowling Joe McMillan for 6 (16 balls), 154-5.

Richard Booth came to the wicket and saw Alexander Rhodes reach his century with a six but next ball fell lbw to Ben Thomas for 103 (74 balls)(12x4, 6x6), 168-6. Will Thistlethwaite came in but was quickly out bowled by Ben Thomas for 0 (8 balls), 178-7.

The new batsman was Luca Swarbrick, the score was 199 when Fraser Young took two wickets in four balls, he bowled Luca Swarbrick for 8 (25 balls), 199-8, incoming Phil Booth was caught by Ben Thomas for 0 (3 balls), 199-9.

Jim Proctor was number eleven but lost Richard Booth caught behind by Craig Cameron off Fraser Young for 18 (44 balls)(2x4) as Great Eccleston were bowled out for 205 in 37.4 overs with Jim Proctor 2no (14 balls).

The Vernon Carus bowling figures were Fraser Young 4-44 from 10.4 overs, Ben Thomas 3-47 off 8. Ian Dunn 2-45 from 14, Jacob Holland 0-28 off 3 and Ab Bhatti 0-30 from 2.

Ian Dunn and Hasan Zaman gave the visitors a good start, Hasan Zaman the first out lbw to Nisanth Nithian for 14 (46 balls)(2x4), 49-1. Number three was Jaxon Cornford and they had nearly doubled the score when Jaxon Cornford was caught by Mohamed Nadeem off Phil Booth for 26 (38 balls)(4x4), 96-2.

David Hankin was in next but with only two runs added he was caught behind by Will Thistlethwaite off Phil Booth for 1 (10 balls), 98-3. Paul Chapman Jnr replaced Hankin and with Ian Dunn were making good progress, Mohamed Nadeem made the breakthrough having Paul Chapman Jnr lbw for 22 (36 balls)(4x4), 144-4.

Craig Cameron came to the wicket but disaster struck the visitors with Alexander Rhodes taking two wickets in an over, Ian Dunn's fighting innings came to an end bowled for 69 (136 balls)(9x4), 146-5. new batsman Jacob Holland was also bowled for 0 (2 balls), 147-6. Ben Thomas joined Craig Cameron and they moving the score along, Alexander Rhodes claimed his third wicket Craig Cameron caught and bowled for 13 (13 balls)(1x6), 170-7.

Ab Bhatti was Thomas's new partner and they saw the visitors close on 184-7 in their 50 overs 21 runs short, Ben Thomas was 20no (16 balls)(1x4, 1x6) and Ab Bhatti 1no (4 balls).

For Great Eccleston Alexander Rhodes took 3-26 from 6 overs, Phil Booth 2-68 off 14, Nisanth Nithian 1-21 from 8, Mohamed Nadeem 1-40 off 15 and Jim Proctor 0-26 from 7.

Penwortham v Mawdseley

Mawdesley won the toss at Middleforth Green and decided to bat first, they got off to a steady start, they lost Daniel Unsworth caught behind by Robbie Sumner off Ryan Maddock for 9 (17 balls)(2x4), 26-2. Aneeq Hassan was in at three but five runs later Lee Berrie was caught by Ed Cox off Ryan Roberts for 14 (17 balls)(3x4), 31-2, Ben Munslow joined Hassan and they began to move the score along and were approaching the hundred when Aneeq Hassan was out lbw to Nathan Walsmley for 28 (59 balls)(3x4), 98-3.

Fyffe Dennis was next in and with Munslow kept the scoreboard ticking over, Ed Cox made the breakthrough having Ben Munslow caught by Charlie Parker for 77 (112 balls)(12x4, 1x6), 168-4. Charlie Hailwood replaced Munslow, Fyffe Dennis's fighting innings came to an end caught by Joseph Bradshaw off Ryan Maddock for 22 (61 balls)(1x4, 1x6), 189-5.

Lewis McKinnon was the new batsman, we are now into the last over and going for the runs, three wickets fell, Charlie Hailwood was caught by Joseph Bradshaw off Ryan Maddock for 11 (22 balls), 206-7. in came Joshua Adamson, two balls later Lewis McKinnon was run out by Ryan Maddock for 10 (11 balls), 206-7, David Whiteley came in for the last ball and was caught behind by Robbie Sumner off Ryan Maddock for 0 (1 ball) as Mawdesley closed on 206-8 in their 50 overs with Joshua Adamson 0no (2 balls).

All the Penwortham bowlers took a wicket, Ryan Roberts 3-47 from 10 overs, Ryan Maddock 2-40 off 10, Nathan Walmsley 1-39 from 15 and Ed Cox 1-62 off 15.

The Penwortham reply got off to a bad start, Robbie Sumner was bowled by Joshua Adamson for 1 (9 balls), 6-1. the hosts number three was Ryan Maddock and with Ryan Dimasi were moving the score along nicely until Joshua Adamson struck again bowling Ryan Dimasi for 26 (20 balls)(4x4, 1x6), 35-2.

Joseph Bradshaw was in next but was soon out bowled by Neil O'Malley for 5 (3 balls), 45-3. Nathan Walmsley was the new batsman and with Maddock had nearly doubled the score when Ryan Maddock was out lbw to Joshua Adamson for 31 (34 balls)(5x4), 86-4. Charlie Parker joined Nathan Walmsley and took the score past the hundred only for Nathan Walmsley to fall lbw to Neil O'Malley for 21 (44 balls)(1x4, 2x6), 117-5.

Ian Walmsley Jnr replaced Nathan Walmsley were making good progress when Charlie Parker was caught by Lee Berrie off Ben Munslow for 38 (33 balls)(6x4, 1x6), 167-6. Kane Donaghy was next in but with only nine runs added lost Ian Walmsley Jnr for 21 (17 balls)(5x4), 176-7. Ryan Roberts came to the wicket and with Donaghy saw Penwortham home closing on 207-7 in 34 overs with Ryan Roberts 18no (22 balls)(4x4)and Kane Donaghy 3no (22 balls).

For Mawdesley Joshua Adamson took 3-74 from 24 overs, Ben Munslow 2-29 off 5, Neil O'Malley 2-45 from 6.2, Lee Berrie 0-10 off 1.4 and Lewis McKinnon 0-37 from 7.

St Annes v Euxton

This was the match of the day for Division two 1st v 2nd and vital for each club in the three horse race for promotion. Euxton won the toss at Vernon Road and elected to bat first. openers Josh Tolley and Ben Houghton got them off to a good start. Promod Maduwantha was brought on to bowl and in his first over bowled Ben Houghton for 17 (28 balls)(3x4), 59-1.

James Bone came in at three, Josh Tolley was the next man out bowled by Lukman Vahaluwala for 56 (48 balls)(10x4), 89-2. Max Harper was in next but was soon out lbw to Promod Maduwantha for 1 (5 balls), 94-3.

Hackeem Perryman was the new batsman and looked to up the run rate, he lost James Bone caught behind by James Bradley off Mitch Bolus for 20 (64 balls)(3x4), 110-4. Jack Morgan joined Perryman who was leading the way, Alex Urquhart broke the partnership bowling Jack Morgan for 8 (28 balls), 136-5.

Next in was Jack Shovelton but was quickly out Alex Urquhart's second wicket lbw for 8 (9 balls), 146-6. Danny Curtis replaced Shovelton and with Perryman moved the score along until in the last over he was run out by Thomas Bradley for 25 (53 balls)(3x4), 217-7. Louis Sweeney came to the wicket and saw Euxton close on 220-7 in their 50 overs with Hackeem Perryman 65no (67 balls)(4x4 2x6) with Louis Sweeney 1no (1 ball).

The St Annes bowling was Alex Urquhart 2-31 from 7 overs, Promod Madwuwantha 2-45 off 15, Lukman Vahaluwala 1-50 from 12, Mitch Bolus 1-64 off 12 and Ryan Birkman 0-28 from 4.

The St Annes reply got off to a poor start losing two early wickets, Joseph Bowden bowled Lukman Vahaluwala fir 8 (9 balls), 10-1. number three Luke Jardine followed one run later lbw to Jack Shovelton for 0 (4 balls), 11-2.

Promod Maduwantha joined Nathan Armstrong and they were making good progress when both were out, Nathan Armstrong went first lbw to Elliot Mackrael for 29 (42 balls)(4x4 1x6), 69-3. one run later Promod Maduwantha went the same way lbw to Elliot Mackrael for 27 (32 balls)(4x4), 70-4.

We now had two new batsmen Thomas Bradley and Nathan Bolus, their partnership was 52 when Elliot Mackrael claimed his third wicket Natan Bolus bowled for 19 (39 balls)(2x4), 122-5, Jevan Isidore was the incoming batsman, disaster struck for the hosts with Jack Shovelton taking wickets with his first and last balls of an over, Thomas Bradley was first to go caught by James Bone for 33 (41 balls)(4x4), 142-6, new man James Bradley went last ball caught and bowled for 0 (5 balls), 142-7.

Alex Urquhart was Isidore's new partner and they had put on 20 runs when Jevan Isidore was stumped by Danny Cutis off James Bone for 30 (31 balls)(1x4, 2x6), 162-8. Ryan Birkman came to the crease and with 59 runs required off 12.4 overs with two wickets left, James Bone claimed his second wicket Alex Urquhart stumped by Danny Curtis for 22 (49 balls)(3 x4), 197-9.

Mitch Bolus was in at eleven, 24 required form the last pair off 4.2 overs, it went down to the last over with St Annes needing 4 runs off the last over , two were required with two balls to go but Ryan Birkman scored two off the fifth ball to give St Annes victory, Ryan Birkman was 27no (39 balls)(3x4) and Mitch Bolus 9no ( balls).

The Euxton bowling wasJack Shovelton 3-39 from 12 overs, Elliot Mackrael 3-48 off 9, James Bone 2-67 from 13.5 and Joseph Bowden 1-67 off 15.

The result keeps St Annes at the top but moves Euxton down to third.

Thornton Cleveleys

Thornton Cleveleys batted first after winning the toss at Illawalla they got off to a steady start, Josh Borrell was the first man out caught by Cameron McDougall off Daryl Wearing for 18 (20 balls)(4x4), 30-1, the hosts number three was Sam Curwen and with Joshua Sackfield steadily moved the score along, disaster struck when Sam Curwen was run out by Nisanth Arun for 17 (45 balls)(3x4), 83-2.

Jacob Sackfield joined Joshua Sackfield and they took the score past the hundred when Joshua Sackfield was caught behind by Drew Postlethwaite off Dikshant Vairagi for 61 (90 balls)(8x4, 1x6), 110-3. Joshua Rolinson replaced Sackfield and looked to up the score rate, Gary Collins was brought into the attack and in his third over bowled Jacob Sackfield for 12 (45 balls)(2x4), 138-4. Daniel Howard was the new batsman and he went after the bowling, with Rolinson they put on 132 when Joshua Rolinson was caught by Simon Chadd off Dikshant Vairagi for 84 (47 balls)(4x4, 10x6), 270-5. Ethan Elphick came to the wicket but was quickly out caught by Jack Singleton off Simon Chadd for 4 (5 balls), 276-6.

The new batsman was Christopher Hedges and he supported Daniel Howard, they had reached 310 when Daniel Howard was caught by Dikshant Vairagi off Liam Walker for 91 (40 balls)(5x4, 9x6), 310-7.

Jake Apperley came in with only one ball left and scored a single as Thornton Cleveleys closed on 311-7 in their 50 overs with Christopher Hedges 7no (9 balls) and Jake Applerley 1no (1 ball).

Six of the seven Barrow bowlers took a wicket, Dikshant Vairagi took 2-117 from 15 overs, Simon Chadd 1-17 off 2, Liam Walker 1-19 from 2, Daryl Wearing 1-37 off 15, Gary Collins 1-38 from 6 and Sam Henderson 0-73 off 10.

Barrow did not start well losing Drew Postlethwaite bowled by Daniel Howard for 7 (13 balls), 8-1, Nisanth Arun was number three but soon lost Simon Chadd bowled by Daniel Howard for 6 (14 balls), 24-2.

Dikshant Vairagi was in next but with only four runs added became wicket number three for Daniel Howard caught by Jake Apperely for 3 (4 balls), 28-3. Jack Singleton joined Nisanth Arun and they began to turn the game around, they were approaching the hundred when Nisanth Arud was caught and bowled by Joshua Sackfield for 36 (64 balls)(3x4), 91-4.

Cameron Dougall was the new batsmen but on reaching 10 (18 balls) was caught by J Sackfield off Christopher Hedges, 113-5, The incoming batsman was Liam Walker but three runs later was stumped by Sam Curwen off Daniel Howard for 0 (14 balls), 113-6.

Ben Carr was Jack Singleton's new partner and they saw Barrow to the close on 184-6 in their 50 overs with Jack Singleton 70no (113 balls)(5x4, 1x6) and Ben Carr 25no (59 balls)(3x4).

The Thornton Cleveleys bowling was Daniel Howard 4-25 from 12, Christopher Hedges 1-18 off 5, Joshua Sackfield 1-29 from 11, Josh Borrell 0-10 off 1, Jacob Sackfield 0-15 from 4, Jake Apperley 0-17 off 3, Joshua Rolinson 0-31 from 7 and Evan Martin 0-32 off 7.
