The Northern Cricket League Review

The results of Round 5 of the 40 over League Cup saw that the number of clubs vying for the top eight positions was down to 10.

Blackpool defeated Fleetwood to leave only Garstang and Leyland with 100% records and guaranteed qualification for the top eight.

The other winners on the day were Carnforth, Kendal, Netherfield, Longridge, Mawdesley and Penwortham. The match between Chorley and Settle was a tie.

The eight clubs in contention for the fial eight are, on 12pts - Blackpool, Fleetwood and Netherfield, 11pts - Chorley, 9pts - Kendal, Carlisle, Euxton with Settle on 8pts.

40 OVER LEAGUE CUP COMPETITION: ROUND 5

Blackpool v Fleetwood

Blackpool won the toss at Stanley Park and invited the visitors to bat first, The Fleetwood opening pair were Tomas King and Andy Drake, In the second over Joshua Boyne bowled Tomas King for 1 (9 balls), 1-1.

Charlie Clark came in at three and with Andy Drake were approaching fifty when Andy Drake was caught by Andrew Needham off Matthew Grindley for 15 (19 balls)(3x4), 48-2, The new batsman was Michael Rippon who became Joshua Boyne's second victim caught by Matthew Taaffe for 3 (10 balls), 60-3.

Harry McAleer was next in but he quickly fell caught by Joshua Boyne off Dylan Henshall for 2 (11 balls), 67-4, Jeremy Davies replaced McAleer but became Joshua Boyne's next wicket bowled for 2 (5 balls), 70-5.

Adam Sharrocks joined Charlie Clark but did not fare any better caught behind by Ben Howarth off Matthew Taaffe for 1 (8 balls), 79-6. Declan Clerkin was next in and with Clark took the score past the hundred only for Clerkin to fall caught by Joshua Boyne off Jamie Thomson for 12 (20 balls), 106-7.

One run had been added when new batsman Nathan Bend was bowled by Matthew Grindley for 1 (5 balls), 107-8, Matthew Siddall was Charlie Clark's new partner but on reaching 5 (8 balls) he was out caught by Matthew Taaffe off Jamie Thomson, 121-9.

The Fleetwood innings came to a close on 124 all out in 32.1 overs, Jamie Thomson bowled Charlie Clark for 74 (92 balls)(8x4) with Will Reader 2no (6 balls).

The Blackpool bowling was Joshua Boyne 3-12 from 7 overs, Jamie Thomson 3-23 off 7.1, Matthew Grindley 3-39 from 6, Dylan Henshall 1-8 off 3, Matthew Taafe 1-17 from 3 and Ali Usman 0-25 off 6.

The Blackpool openers Kasim Munir and Dylan Henshall were in a rush with Dylan Henshall leading the way, Kasim Munir was run out by Andy Drake for 15 (30 balls), 55-1.

Andrew Needham came to the wicket supporting Dylan Henshall, The visitors did not have any further success and Blackpool raced to victory on 125-1 in 21.1 overs, Dylan Henshall reaching his century and scoring the winning run at the same time closing on 100no (68 balls)(9x4, 7x6) with Andrew Needham 7no (28 balls).

The bowling figures were Will Reader 0-13 from 1 over, Michael Rippon 0-16 off 6, Jeremy Davies 0-19 from 3, Declan Clerkin 0-37 off 5 and Matthew Siddall 0-40 from 6.

Carlisle v Leyland

Leyland won the toss at Edenside and asked the hosts to take the first knock, The opening batsmen were Oliver Spedding and Marc Brown, they got off to a good start of 67, Sam Oldham broke the partnership having Oliver Spedding caught and bowled for 20(46 balls)(3x4). 67-1.

Matthew Brown was Carlisle's number three and with Marc Brown were approaching the hundred when both were out, Matthew Brown was caught by Luke Hands off Ned Pattersen for 9 (24 balls), Marc Brown was caught by Ross Bretherton off Sam Oldham for 48 (56 balls)(6x4) to leave the hosts 99-3.

The two new batsmen were Michael Slack and Ben Davidson, they were going well until Ned Patterson trapped Michael Slack lbw for 36 (42 balls)(4x4), 171-4, next in was Alex Raybould who was out looking for runs caught by Andrew Makinson off Luke Hands for 10 (11 balls)(2x4), 190-5.

Brodie Glendinning came to the wicket and with Davidson saw Carlisle close on 224-5 with Ben Davidson 59no (52 balls)(5x4, 1x6) with Brodie Glendinning 16no (10 balls).

For Leyland Sam Oldham took 2-27 from 8, Nd Patterson 2-29 off 8, Luke Hand 1-39 from 8, Will Smith 0-34 off 4, Andrew Jacques 0-37 from 7 and Ross Bretherton 0-50 off 5.

Alexander Eyre got the visitors off to a good start but lost his partner Karl Cross lbw to Ben Purdham for 6 (15 balls), 38-1, Sam Oldham was in at three and with the partnership approaching the fifty Alexander Eyre was caught by Alex Raybould off Michael Slack for 63 (44 balls)(11x4, 1x6), 86-2.

Luke Hands joined Sam Oldham and they took the score past the hundred, Nico Watt made the breakthrough having Sam Oldham caught and bowled for 34 (52 balls)(3x4, 1x6), 119-3. Ross Bretherton was in next but was soon out stumped by Tom Benn off Johnny Westgarth for 6 (19 balls), 136-4.

Andrew Makinson replaced Bretherton with the visitors requiring ninety runs off 13 overs, The partnership took the visitors within sight of victory when they were both out, Luke Hands was first to go caught by Nico Watt off Brodie Glendinning for 49 (56 balls)(4x4 1x6), 211-5, two runs later Andrew Makinson was caught behind by Tom Benn off Michael Slack for 43 (31 balls)(2x4, 3x6), 213-6.

Alex Sutcliffe and Ned Patterson completed the task taking Leyland to victory on 225-5 in 38.1 overs, Alex Sutcliffe was 9no (9 balls) and Ned Patterson hit the winning four and finished 5no (4 balls).

The Carlise bowling figures were Michael Slack 2-66 from 8 overs, Johnny Westgarth 1-29 off 8, Brodie Glendinning 1-37 from 6, Ben Purdham 1-39 off 8, Nico Watt 1-49 from 8 and Ben Davidson 0-4 off 0.1.

Carnforth v Vernon Carus

Carnforth won the toss at Lodge Quarry and chose to bat first, Bradley Hoyle and Lewis Spurr were the opening batsmen, they got off to a good start but both fell with the score in the early forties, Bradley Hoyle was caught by Jacob Holland off Matthew Timms for 17 (32 balls), (2x4), 41-1. two runs later Lewis Spurr was caught by Matthew Timms off Oliver Lombard for 20 (31 balls)(3x4), 43-2.

Jaco Beneke and James Park-Johnson replaced the openers and took the score past the hundred, James Park-Johnson was out caught off Ben Thomas for 33 (53 balls)(5x4), 110-3, Shane Dixon joined Beneke and they continued to put on the runs with Beneke leading the way, Ian Dunn bowled Shane Dixon for 21 921 balls)(3x4), 172-4.

Romaria Brathwaite was Beneke's new partner, Jaco Beneke reached his century but their stand was broken in the last over with Beneke caught by Jaxon Cornford off Matthew Timms for 140(82 balls)(11x4, 11x6), 290-5.

Tom Parkinson came to the wicket with a few balls remaining and saw Carnforth close on 296-5 in their 40 overs with Romario Brathwaite 50no (20 balls)(1x4, 6x6)) with Tom Parkinson 4no (2 balls).

The bowling figures were Matthew Timms 2-54 from 8 overs, Ben Thomas 1-22 off 2, Oliver Lombard 1-31 from 8, Ian Dunn 1-57 off 8, Wes Royle 0-24 from 2, Jaxon Cornford 0-44 off 5 and Jacob Holland 0-61 from 7.

The visitors got off to a bad start losing two early wickets, Hasan Zaman was bowled by James Park-Johnson for 2 (9 balls), 7-1, Haren Shetty was number three but lost Ian Dunn bowled by James Park-Johnson for 13 (16 balls(3x4), 16-2.)

Wes Royle was the new batsman and supported Haren Shetty, their partnership of 136 was ended with Wes Royle out caught by James Park-Johnson off Tom Parkinson for 41 (56 balls)(5 x4), 154-3, Jaxon Cornford joined in the run chase, Haren Shetty reached his century, he was the next to fall caught by Jaco Beneke off Tom Parkinson for 121 (86 balls)(15x4, 4x6), 223-4,

Robert Bridges came in next but sadly for the visitors they lost Jaxon Cornford caught by Bradley Hoyle off James Parkinson for 61 (43 balls)(6x4, 2x6), 250-5. Matthew Timms was next in but was bowled by Tom Parkinson for 12 (11 balls), 278-6.

Jacob Holland came to the wicket with victory out of his hands as Vernon Carus closed on 282-6 in their 40 overs with Robert Bridges 23no (18 balls(1x4), 1x6) and Jacob Holland 1no (3 balls).

The Carbfoirth bowling was Tom Parkinson 3-54 from 8 overs, James Park-Johnson 2-47 off 8, James Parkinson 1-44 from 8, Jack Thompson 0-25 off 3, Jaco Beneke 0-52 from 7 and Romario Brathwaite 0-58 off 6.

Chorley v Settle

Settle won the toss at Windsor Park and chose to bat first, Zane Nirodi and John Davidson were the visitors opening pair, John Davidson went early caught by Zayn Wadiwala off Miller Childs for 9 (9 balls)(2x4), 15-1. Walking in at three was Kieran Grimshaw and with Nirodi took the score to 51 when Zane Nirodi was caught by Joseph Tiffin off Matt Dawson for 31 (44 balls)(7 x4), 51-2.

Gautam Waghela was in next but was soon out caught behind by Ben Simpkins off Matt Dawon for 4 (2 balls), 55-3. James Snowden replaced Waghela but on reaching 8 (15 balls) was caught behind by Ben Simpkins off Sam Steeple, 80-4.

Tom Davidson joined Grimshaw but with their partnership on 34 Edwin Moulton had Tom Davidson caught behind by Ben Simpkins for 18 (29 balls)(2x4), 114-5, The new batsman was William Davidson who kept up the run rate until he was caught by Keegan Petersen off Matt Dawson for 32 (22 balls)(4x4, 1x6), 155-6.

Benjamin Hulse came to the wicket with seven overs left, they went on the attack and had taken the score past the two hundred when Kieran Grimshaw was caught by Edwin Moulton off Miller Childs for 63 (97 balls)(9x4), 206-7. We were now in the last over and new batsman Robbie Davidson lost his partner Benjamin Hulse bowled by Maxwell Seedall for 33 (17 balls)(3x4, 2x6), 217-8

In at ten was Will Vause, Robbie Davidson was out on the last ball of the innings caught by Edwin Moulton off Maxwell Seedall for 4 (4 balls) as Settle closed on 220-9 in their 40 overs with Will Vause 3no (2 balls).

The Chorley bowling figures were Matt Dawson 3-47 from 8 overs, Maxwell Seedall 2-26 off 3, Miller Childs 2-30 from 6, Sam Steeple 1-21 off 8, Edwin Moulton 1 50 from 8 and Keegan Petersen 0-40 off 7.

In reply the hosts lost Will Moulton caught by Gautam Waghela off Eddy Read for 11 (14 balls)(2x4), 23-1, Edwin Moulton was in at three and with Miller Childs were going well with a partnership of 104 broken by Benjamin Hulse bowling Miller Childs for 56 (67 balls)(9x4, 1x6), 127-2. Keegan Petersen was in next but soon became wicket number two for Benjamin Hulse caught and bowled for 11 (12 balls)(2x4), 140-3.

Maxwell Seedall was the new batsman but fell lbw to William Davidson for 7 (15 balls), 163-4, the incoming batsman was Zayn Wadiwala who did not fare any better caught and bowled by Gautam Waghela for 1 (5 balls), 166-5. James Dunn joined Edwin Moulton but quickly became victim number two for William Davidson bowled for 4 (3 balls), 175-6.

Ben Simpkins came to the wicket with the hosts requiring 46 runs for victory in 5.2 overs. Edwin Moulton upped the run rate and reached his century, It was now the last over Chorley required 6 runs for victory, Tom Davidson bowled Ben Simpkins for 7 (14 balls), 218-7.

Two runs were required off the last ball by Tom Davidson with Edwin Moulton facing, only one run was scored so the game ended in a tie. Edwin Moulton was 111no (111 balls)(13x4, 4x6) and Joseph Tiffin 1no (1 ball).

The bowling figures for Settle were Benjamin Hulse 2-15 from 5 overs, William Davidson 2-52 off 8, Eddy Read 1-25 from 5, Gaum Waghela 1-35 off 8, Tom Davidson 1-39 from 7, Will Vause 0-23 off 2 and Kieran Grimshaw 0-28 from 5.

Euxton v Penwortham

Euxton won the toss at Balshaw Park and decided to bat first, Josh Tolley and Jack Shovelton opened, Josh Tolley was the first to go caught by Harish Hamsa off Ryan Maddock for 5 (10 balls), 21-1. Hakeem Perryman was in at three and with Shovelton had the run rate at nearly 6, the partnership was broken by Charlie Parker having Jack Shovelton caught by Jonathon Hothersall for 63 (70 balls)(5x4, 3x6), 117-2.

Ben Houghton was the new batsman and continued to keep up the rate until he was caught behind by Robbie Sumner off Ryan Roberts for 20 (19 balls)(1x4, 1x6), 169-3, next in was James Bone but he soon lost Hakeem Perryman caught by Harish Hamsa for 73 (71 balls)(10x4, 1x6), 176-4.

Max Harper replaced Perryman, disaster struck for the home side losing 5 wickets for 7 runs in going for the runs, Max Harper was the first to go bowled by Nathan Walmsley for 12 (14 balls), 200-5, James Dickinson replaced Harper but fell lbw to Ryan Roberts for 0 (6 balls), 201-6.

Nathan Walmsley took the next two wickets in one over, Danny Curtis stumped by Robbie Sumner for 1 (3 balls), 204-7 three balls later Louis Sweeney was caught behind by Robbie Sumner for 0 (3 balls), 204-8. James Bone became wicket number four for Walmsley caught behind by Robbie Sumner for 20 (26 balls), 207-9.

Elliot Mackrael 4no (13 balls) and Joseph Bowden 11no (8 balls)(1x6) saw Euxton close on 221-9 in their 40 overs.

Nathan Walmsley took 4-45 from 8 overs supported by Ryan Roberts 2-38 off 8, Ryan Maddock 2-38 from 8, Charlie Parker 1-52 off 8 and Ashley Billington 0-45 from 8.

Robbie Sumner and Ryan Dimasi were the visitors opening pair and gave them a great start with 75 for the first wicket, Robbie Sumner was the man out lbw to James Bone for 32 (40 balls)(6x4), 75-1.

Jonathon Hothersall was number three and continued the good work, they were approaching the hundred when Ryan Dimasi fell caught behind by Danny Curtis for 36 (30 balls)(5x4, 1x6), 98-2. Ryan Maddock was next in and they were making good progress, Josh Tolley broke the partnership having Jonathon Hothersall caught by Ben Houghton for 39 (43 balls)(2x4, 3x6), 161-3.

The new batsman was Joseph Bradshaw and with Ryan Maddock saw Penwortham home on 222-3 in 35 overs, Ryan Maddock was 51no (62 balls)(5x4, 1x6) and Joseph Bradshaw was 39no (46 balls)(5x4, 1x6).

The Euxton bowling was James Bone 2-30 from 8 overs, Josh Tolley 1-47 off 8, Elliot Mackrael 0-19 from 2, Louis Sweeney 0-29 off 2, Ben Houghton 0-34 from 6 and Joseph Bowden 0-54 off 8.

Fulwood & Broughton v Garstang

Garstang won the toss at the Highfield ground and elected to bat first, Tom Higson and Michael Walling got them off to a brilliant start, Lewis Wellings broke the partnership having Tom Higson caught behind by James McWilliam for 53 (39 balls)(10x4), 82-1, Six runs later number three Joseph Peason became wicket number two for Lewis Wellings lbw for 1 (10 balls), 88-2.

Marc Walling joined Michael Walling and they took control with a partnership of 152 broken with Michael Walling out caught by Ewen Mansford off Todd Winder for 87 (88 balls)(10x4, 3x6), 240-3.

That was the last success for the hosts as Marc Walling 103no (10x4, 5x6) and Sumit Ruikar 59no (7x4, 4x6) saw Garstang close on 317-3 in their 40 overs.

The Fulwood & Broughton bowling figures were Lewis Wellings 2-59 from 7, Todd Winder 1-66 off 5, Cameron Port 0-31 from 8, Muhammad Zaid 0-32 off 3.3, Marcus Allen 0-35 from 5, Chris Brookes 0-40 off 5.3 and Ewen Mansford 0-53 from 6.

The Fulwood & Broughton reply got off to a disastrous start losing three wickets with the score on 7, Ewen Mansford went first caught by Joseph Pearson off Waris Khan for 2 (14 balls), 7-1, fellow opener Cameron Port followed caught behind by Matthew Crowther off Corey Cater for 3 (12 balls), 7-2.

New batsman Ben Parkinson was caught behind by Matthew Crowther off Waris Khan for 0 (2 balls), 7-3. James McWilliam and Parshwa Panchwatkar had the job of rebuilding the innings, it was deja vu as three wickets fell on the same score all falling to Waris Khan, James McWilliam was caught by Sumit Ruikar for 11 (16 balls)(2x4), 34-4, new batsman Anupam Tripathi was bowled first ball for 0, 34-5. next in Muhammad Zaid became wicket number five caught by Sumit Ruikar for 0 (2 balls), 34-6.

Parshwa Panchwatkar was watching from the other end and with only ten runs added he lost two more partners on the same score, Lewis Wellings was lbw to Sumit Ruikar for 3 (12 balls), 44-7, next ball Marcus Allen suffered the same fate lbw for 0 (1 ball), 44-8, Panchwatkar farmed the strike but with introduction of Danny Gilbert to the attack saw the end of Parshwa Panchwatkar bowled for 46 (41 balls)(7x4, 2x6), 72-9.

Chris Brookes had retired injured whilst bowling came into bat but had to retire after one ball so Fulwood & Broughton were 72 all out in 17.5 overs.

Waris Khan took 5-38 from 8 over with Sumit Ruikar 2-13 of 2, Danny Gilbert 1-1 from 0.5 and Corey Cater 1-19 off 7.

Longridge v Great Eccleston

Great Eccleston won the toss at the Newsham Memorial ground and decided to bat first, They got off to a mixed start, Nisanth Nithian scoring 13 runs off the first over but Rishit Sharma was run out by Jacob Proctor for 0 (1 ball) off the first ball of the second, 13-1.

Alexander Rhodes joined Nithian and they demolished the visitors attack, Alexander Rhodes reached his century on the first ball of the seventeenth over but was out on the fourth caught by Kieran McClintock off Gabriel Dowthwaite for 105 (60 balls)(8x4, 9x6), 164-2.

Mohamed Nadeem came in and continued the run fest until he lost his partner Nisanth Nithian caught by Gabriel Dowthwaite off Jonathan Millward for 96 (84 balls)(11x4, 1x6), 230-3. The new batsman was Joe McMillan who kept the scoreboard moving along, he was next out caught by Gabriel Dowthwaite off Kieran McClintock for 22 (19 balls)(2x4, 1x6), 282-4.

We are now in the last five overs and the visitors were still going for the runs, new batsman Phil Booth was soon out bowled by Gabriel Dowthwaite for 3 (6 balls), 296-5, next in Will Thistlethwaite quickly became wicket number three for Gabriel Dowthwaite bowled for 0 (2 balls), 298-6.

Matthew Lawrenson replaced Thistlethwaite and was run out on the last ball of the innings for 3 (7 balls) as Great Eccleston closed on 313-7 in their 40 overs with Mohamed Nadeem 70no (61 balls)(8x4, 1x6).

The bowling figures were Gabriel Dowthwaite 3-45 from 8 overs, Kieran McClintock 1-53 off 7, Jonathan Millward 1-60 from 8, Tom Howarth 0-34 off 3, Jacob Proctor 0-41 from 6 and Jake Durnell 0-78 off 8.

The Longridge opening pair Taariq Chiecktey and Joshua Mullin followed the example set by the visiting batsmen with an opening partnership of 179 in 22 overs, Taariq Chiecktey was the one out lbw to William Turnbull for 110 (75 balls)(18x4, 2x6), 179-1.

Zac Christie was in next and gave Joshua Mullin the strike but was out bowled by Jim Proctor for 18 (22 balls)(2x4), 225-2. Rob Hollinghurst was the new batsman and with Mullin took the hosts to victory on 315-2 in 39 overs, Jushua Mullin was 118no (11x4, 1x6) and Rob Hollinghurst 57no (29 balls)(5x4, 1x6).

The Great Eccleston bowling was William Turnbull 1-46 from 8 overs, Jim Proctor 1-70 off 8, Nisanth Nithian 0-49 from 8, Mohamed Nadeem 0-71 off 7 and Phil Booth 0-78 from 8.

Mawdesley v Thornton Cleveleys

Thornton Cleveleys won the toss at Rectory Field and put the hosts into bat, Fyffe Dennis and Ben Munslow gave the hosts a good start, Joshua Rolinson broke the partnership bowling Ben Munslow for 13 (23 balls)(2x4), 52-1, number three was Aneeq Hassan who was soon out run out by Josh Borrell for 14 (12 balls)(2x4), 68-2.

The new batsman was Daniel Unsworth, they took the score past the hundred only for Fyffe Dennis to fall caught behind by Sam Curwen off Cameron Chisholm for 51 (50 balls)(6x4, 1x6), 119-3. Lee Berrie was in next and was scoring at a good rate when he was caught behind by Sam Curwen off Christopher Hedges for 21 (25 balls)(3x4), 145-4.

Oliver Ellicott came to the wicket but soon lost his partner Daniel Unswoth caught by Josh Borrell off Jake Apperley for 33 (51 balls)(3x4), 161-5. Trevor Webster replaced Unsworth and saw Christopher Hedges claim his second wicket Oliver Ellicott caught by Jake Apperley for 15 (19 balls), 167-6.

Joshua Adamson joined Webster but as they were approaching the two hundred Trevor Webster was caught behind by Sam Curwen off Joshua Rolinson for 14 (19 balls)(2x4), 193-7. Neil O'Malley was next in and with Adamson saw Mawdesley close on 219-7 in their 40overs with Joshua Adamson 15no (25 balls) and Neil O'Malley 17no (17 balls)(2x4).

The Thornton Cleveleys bowling figures were Joshua Rolinson 2-38 from 8, Christopher Hedges 2-54 off 6, Cameron Chisolm 1-37 from 8, Jake Apperley 1-38 off 8, Anthony Ellison 0-13 from 2 and Joshua Sackfield 0-31 off 8.

The visitors did not get off to the best of starts losing Joshua Rolinson caught by Lee Berrie off Oliver Ellicott for 8 (7 balls)(2x4), 11-1. The Thornton Cleveleys number three Josh Borrell joined Joshua Sackfield, the score was 53 when Borrell was out lbw to Oliver Ellicott for 12 (21 balls)(2x4), 53-2.

Oliver Ellicott accounted for incoming batman Sam Curwen lbw for 0 (7 balls), 59-3, Jacob Sackfield replaced Curwen, Disaster struck for the visitors losing three wickets for three runs, Joshua Sackfield was the first to go bowled by Joshua Adamson for 39 (33 balls)(5x4, 1x6), 61-4, in came Richard Jenkinson but lost his partner Jacob Sackfield lbw to Joshua Adamson for 1 (11 balls), 62-5, new batsman Cameron Chishlom was also lbw but to Oliver Ellicott for 0 (7 balls), 64-6

Richard Jenkinson and new batsman Jake Apperley set about rebuilding the innings and were doing well until Jake Applerley was out lbw to Daniel Unsworth for 42 (47 balls)(4x4, 2x6), 147-7. Christopher Hedges was in next but with only ten runs added Richard Jenkinson was caught by Lee Berrie off Daniel Unsworth for 30 (54 balls)(54), 157-8.

Coming in at number ten was Ethan Elphick who became Daniel Unsworth's third victim caught and bowled for 5 (13 balls), 170-9. The Thornton Cleveleys innings closed on 177 all out in 36.2 overs when Christopher Hedges was bowled by Neil O'Malley for 15 (20 balls)(2x4) with Anthony Ellison 1no (1 ball).

For Mawdesley Oliver Ellicott lead the way with 4-26 from 8 overs, supported by Daniel Unsworth 3-31 off 4, Joshua Adamson 2-38 from 8, Neil O'Malley 1-21 off 6.2, Aneeq Hassan 0-18 from 2, Lee Berrie 0-20 off 4 and Louis Royal 0-23 from 4.

Netherfield v Barrow

Netherfield won the toss at Parkside Road and asked the Barrow to bat first, Drew Postlethwaite and Sam Dutton opened and were keeping the scoreboard ticking over, Josh Wills broke the partnership having Sam Dutton caught behind by Will Beeden for 15 (19 balls)(3x4), 36-1. Dikshant Vairagi came to the wicket and their partnership was 52 when he lost Drew Postletwiate bowled by Oli Wileman for 52 (54 balls)(10x4, 1x6), 92-2.

Simon Chadd was the new batsman but was soon out lbw to Cole Mcconchie for 5 (12 balls), 101-3, Jack Singleton was in next and with Vairagi leading the way good progress was being made, Matt Jackson was introduced into the attack and with his first ball he trapped Jack Singleton lbw for 17 (29 balls)(2x4), 145-4.

Cameron McDougall replaced Singleton and continued to support Vairagi. Matt Jackson struck again Cameron McDougall caught by Josh Dixon for 18 (12 balls)(1x4, 1x6), 185-5.

Matthew Adams was the new batsman, Dikshant Vairagi went on the attack but lost Matthew Adams run out by Matt Jackson for 0 (2 balls), 208-6, Daryl Wearing was in next, Vairagi continued the assault and reached his century, shortly afterwards Matt Jackson bowled Daryl Wearing for 0 (3 balls), 231-7.

There were ten balls remaining and the Barrow batsmen were looking for as many runs as they could, number nine Sam Henderson was out caught behind by Will Beeden off Josh Wills for 1 (2 balls), 242-2. Dikshant's innings came to a close caught by Ben Barrow off Josh Wills for 123 (106 balls)(15x4, 5x6), 249-9.

Dan Adams in for Sam Henderson was joined by Gary Collins for the last ball and saw Barrow close on 250-9 in their 40 overs with Dan Adams 0no (1 ball) and Gary Collins 0no (1 ball).

Reece Irving and Ben Barrow had an opening partnership of 54 broken by Sam Henderson bowling Reece Irving for 16 (29 balls)(2x4), 54-1.

The Netherfield number three Cole Mcconchie joined Ben Barrow and they took control, Ben Barrow reached his century and with victory in sight Cole Mcconchie was caught by Dikshant Vairagi off Dan Adams for 84 (57 balls)(10x4, 2x6), 224-2, incoming batsman John Huck was run out for 2 (7 balls), 231-3.

Richard Everett replaced Huck but with only six runs added Ben Barrow was out lbw to Dikshant Vairagi for 116 (101 balls)(20x4), 237-4. Josh Dixon came to the wicket and with Everett saw the hosts home on 251-4 in 36.3 overs. Richard Everett was 11no (14 balls)(2x4) and Josh Dixon 8no (11 balls).

The bowling figures were Dikshant Vairagi 1-36 from 6, Sam Henderson 1-39 off 6, Dan Adams 1-49 from 4, Simon Chadd 0-13 off 2.3, Daryl Wearing 0-34 from 7, and Sam Dutton 0-39 off 5.

St Annes v Kendal

St Annes won the toss at Vernon Road and chose to bat first, They got a bad start losing Nathan Armstrong bowled by Sam Sharp for 3 (17 balls), 9-1. The bad start turned into disaster with three wickets falling for 1 run. Sam Sharp took two wickets in two balls, trapping Lukman Vahaluwala lbw for 6 (10 balls), 15-1, next ball Ankur Malik was caught by James Bowman for 0 (1 ball), 15-.2

Luke Jardine had replaced Vahaluwala but was bowled by Freddie Fallows in the next over for 0 (1 ball), 16-4, Ashton Charles had been watching at the other end and was joined by Nathan Bolus, Chris Miller was introduced into the attack and in his second over bowled Ashton Charles for 15 (45 balls)(2x4), 30-2.

The new batsman was Thomas Bradley but with only six runs added Nathan Bolus was bowled by Freddie Fallows for 2 (15 balls), 36-6. next in was Alex Urquhart but he soon became victim number two for Chris Miller, bowled for 1 (11 balls), 41-7,.

The end was nigh as two wickets fell on the same score, Thomas Bradley was caught by Cole Abrahams off Freddie Fallows for 11 (18 balls)(1x4, 1x6), 48-8, in the next over Ryan Birkman was bowled by Chris Miller for 1 (7 balls), 48-9.

The innings closed on 52 all out in 21.5 overs with Rory Urquhart being out caught behind by Finlay Richardson off Chris Miller for 4 (4 balls) with Mitch Bolus 0no (2 balls).

Chris Miller took 4-25 from 5.5 overs, Freddie Fallows 3-7 off 7, Sam Sharp 3-10 from 5 and James Bowman 0-8 off 4.

The Kendal openers Max Winskill and Darren Nightingale took the score to within sight of victory when Darren Nightingale was caught behind by Nathan Bolus off Mitch Bolus for 23 (9 balls)(3x4, 1x6), 46-1.

Finlay Richardson was in next and hit the winnings runs as Kendal closed on 54-1 in 6 overs with Max Winskill 23no (22 balls)(3x4, 1x6) and Finlay Richardson 4no (5 balls).
