The Northern Cricket League Review

Round two of the 2025 season saw in Division One two wins out of two for Netherfield, Kendal and Garstang.

The other winners on the day were Leyland and Chorley. For Champions Fleetwood it has bee a bad start with two losses.

In Division Two Penwortham Carnforth and St Annes have started off the season with two victories, Great Eccleston and Euxton were the other winners.

DIVISION ONE

LEAGUE MATCHES: ROUND 2

Chorley v Fulwood & Broughton

Chorley won the toss at Windsor Park and asked the visitors to take the first knock, Openers Ewen Mansford and Matt Smith got them off to a great start and a good run rate, the stand was broken by Stuart Naden having Ewen Mansford caught by Miller Childs for 17 (43 balls)(2x4), 87-1.

Ben Parkinson came in at three and they were going well, their partnership 76 when James Dunn bowled Ben Parkinson for 33 (52 balls)(3x4, 1x6), 163-2, Ben Rosbottom joined Smith, the introduction of Keegan Petersen into the attack saw the end of Matt Smith caught by Stuart Naden for 77 (100 balls)(11x4, 1x6), 181-3.

James McWilliam was in next but did not last long caught by Edwin Moulton off Joseph Tiffin for 4 (11 balls), 188-4. Charlie Rossiter was the new batsman but soon lost his partner Ben Rosbottom caught and bowled by Keegan Petersen for 16 (23 balls)(2x4), 195-5.

Parshwa Panchwatkar joined Rossiter but quickly became wicket number three for Keegan Petersen stumped by Ben Simpkins for 3 (8 balls), 203-6. the incoming batsman was Jon Fenton and with Rossiter moved the score long until Jon Fenton was bowled by Joseph Tiffin for 12 (16 balls)(2x4), 236-7.

Cameron Port replaced Fenton and they continued to forge ahead, with two overs to go Joseph Tiffin took two wickets in two balls, Charlie Rossiter was caught by Sam Steeple for 42 (31 balls)(7x4), next ball Marcus Allen was out lbw for 0 (1 ball), 262-9.

Cameron Port and Todd Winder were numbers ten and eleven and they saw Fulwood & Broughton close on 271-9 in their 50 overs with Cameron Port 18no (15 balls)(3x4) and Todd Winder 0no (5 balls).

The Chorley bowling figures were Joseph Tiffin 4-23 from 6 overs, Keegan Petersen 3-32 off 6, Stuart Naden 1-15 from 5, James Dunn 1-27 off 5, Miller Childs 0-8 from 3, Maxwell Seedall 0-28 off 5, Edwin Moulton 0-29 from 4, Will Moulton 0-33 off 7 and Sam Steeple 0-66 from 9.

The Chorley reply did not get off to the best of starts losing Stuart Naden caught behind by James McWilliam off Marcus Allen for 12 (21 balls)(2x4), 16-1.

Edwin Moulton was the Chorley number three and with Miller Childs kept the scoreboard ticking over, Marcus Allen claimed his second wicket Miller Childs lbw for 23 (26 balls)(3x4), 40-2.

Keegan Petersen joined Edwin Moulton and they continued to make good progress until Edwim Moulton was stumped by James McWilliam off Cameron Port for 48 (75 balls)(3x4, 2x6)136-3, Maxwell Seedall was the new man but did not last long caught and bowled by Cameron Port for 5 (15 balls), 158-4.

Will Moulton walked to the wicket to join Keegan Petersen with 114 runs required off 15 overs, the pair set about their task , Keegan Petersen completed his century with a six and with Moulton saw the hosts home on 273-4 in 48 overs, Keegan Petersen 121no (113 balls)(8x4, 6x6) with Will Moulton 53no (38 balls)(6x4, 2x6).

The visitors bowling was Marcus Allen 2-56 from 11, Cameron Port 2-95 off 15, Ewen Mansford 0-49 from 8 and Jon Fenton 0-72 off 14.

Fleetwood v Kendal

Fleetwood won the toss at Broadwater and invited Kendal to bat first, the opening batsmen were Max Winskill and Bradley Earl, Hassan Mughai made the breakthrough bowling Max Winskill for 10 (28 balls), 21-1, The man coming in at three was Finlay Richardson, Michael Rippon came on to replace Hassan Mughai and in his first over trapped Finlay Richardson lbw for 4 (11 balls). 31-2.

The next batsman in was Cole Abrahams and with Earl were going well until both fell within three runs of each other, Michael Rippon had Bradley Earl lbw for 52 (55 balls)(6x4, 1x6), 83-3, Cole Abrahams followed caught by Michael Rippon off Declan Clerkin for 11 (27 balls), 86-4.

There were now two new batsmen Freddie Fallows and James Bowman, Freddie Fallows was next out caught by Charlie Clark off Michael Rippon for 11 (16 balls), 98-5, Aryan Chowdhury soon became wicket number four for Michael Rippon bowled for 7 (15 balls), 108-6.

Harry Tempton joined Bowman and kept the scoreboard ticking over, Michael Rippon claimed his fifth victim James Bowman lbw for 16 (29 balls)(2x4), 125-7. Sam Sharp replaced Bowman and with the score appraoching the 150 he was out lbw to Matthew Siddall for 17 (27 balls)(3x4), 148-8.

Christopher Miller was the new batsman, the return of Hassan Mughai to the attack resulted in Harry Temperton being caught by Andy Drake for 16 (42 balls), 159-9.

Kuldeep Singh came in at eleven and was out caught by Nathan Bend off Matthew Siddall for 1 (4 balls) as Kendal were bowled out for 160 in 43.2 overs with Christopher Miller 2no (7 balls).

The Fleetwood bowling figures were Michael Rippon 5-65 from 15 overs, Hassan Mughai 2-20 off 7, Matthew Siddall 2-38 from 11.2 and Declan Clerkin 1-33 off 10.

The Fleetwood reply did not get off to a good start and they never recovered, Sam Sharp was the man who did the damage, Andy Drake was bowled by Freddie Fallows for 1 (6 balls), 4-1.

Sam Sharp then took the next four wickets, he bowled Tomas King for 6 (8 balls), 8-2, number three Charlie Clark followed lbw for 0 (3 balls), 10-3. nine runs had been added when he had Michael Rippon caught behind by Finlay Richardson for 2 (18 balls), 19-4.

Harry McAleer was joined by Jeremy Davies but Sam Sharp struck once again having Harry McAleer caught by Aryan Chowdhury for 13 (30 balls), 24-5. Adam Sharrocks was next in but soon fell lbw to Freddie Fallows for 0 (9 balls), 31-6.

Dcelan Clerkin was next in but could not stop the rot he became wicket number five for Sam Sharp caught by Max Winskill for 4 (10 balls), 40-7. He then bowled incoming batsman Nathan Bend for 4 (2 balls)m 44-8.

Jeremy Davies had been watching the collapse at the other end but he now fell lbw to Christopher Miller for 6 (19 balls), 44-9. Hassan Mughai and Matthew Siddall dug in and their partnership was 37 when Sam Sharp claimed his seventh wicket Matthew Siddall caught behind by Finlay Richardson for 8 (39 balls) as Fleetwood were bowled out for 81 in 29.1 overs with Hassan Mughai 26no (33 balls)(4x4).

Sam Sharp took 7-43 from 12.1 overs with Freddie Fallows 2-9 off 12 and Christopher Miller 1-22 from 5.

Garstang v Blackpool

Blackpool won the toss at the Riverside Sports ground and put the hosts into bat, Tom Higson and Michael Walling got them off to a good start, Tom Higson the first out caught by Matthew Taaffe off Matthew Grindley for 24 (29 balls)(4x4), 41-1.

The Garstang number three was Joseph Pearson and with Michael Walling were going along nicely until they lost two wickets in three balls, Michael Walling was caught by Matthew Taafe off Ali Usman for 33 (64 balls)(6x4), 84-2, two balls later new man Mark Walling was caught by Andrew Needham off Ali Usman for 0, 84-3.

Sumit Ruikar joined Pearson and they were approaching their 50 partnership when Joseph Pearson was stumped by Ben Howarth off Ali Usman for 32 (74 balls)(5x4), 130-4. Matthew Crowther was in next and the scoreboard was ticking over, disaster struck for the hosts losing three quick wickets, Ali Usman had Sumit Ruikar caught by Andrew Needham for 46 (64 balls)(4x4, 1x6), 163-5.

Michael Wellings was the new man but one run later he was caught by Andrew Needham off Joshua Boyne for 0 (8 balls), 164-6, Ian Walling replaced Wellings but became Ali Usman's fifth wicket bowled for 0 (2 balls), 165-7. Danny Gilbert joined Matthew Crowther but was soon out lbw to Josh Boyne for 8 (5 balls)(1x6), 174-8.

The hosts number ten was Corey Cater who was out in the last over of the innings caught by Joshua Boyne off Jamie Thomson for 11 (7 balls)(1x6), 188-9. The Garstang innings closed on 190-9 in their 50 overs with Matthew Crowther 18no (41 balls)(2x4) with number eleven Joe Barlow 1no (2 balls).

Ali Usman took 5-46 from 15 overs with Joshua Boyne 2-48 off 15, Jamie Thomson 1-32 from 10 and Matthew Grindley 1-57 off 10.

In reply Blackpool lost Andrew Needham caught by Sumit Ruikat off Ian Walling for 8 (17 balls), 17-1, Corey Cater soon accounted for number three Matthew Taaffe caught behind by Matthew Crowther for 1 (12 balls), 25-2.

Joshua Boyne joined Ben Howarth and they began to rebuild the innings, Disaster struck for the visitors losing three wickets on the same score. Danny Gilbert was brought into the attack and in his second over had Joshua Boyne caught behind by Matthew Crowther for 23 (39 balls)(1x4, 1x6), 55-4.

Ali Usamn was in next but lost Ben Howarth lbw to Sumit Ruikar for 15 (60 balls)(3x4), 55-4, The incoming batsman was Omar Tauqir who was quickly out caught behind by Matthew Crowther off Sumit Ruikar for 0 (3 balls), 55-5.

Jake Muncaster and Ali Usman were the batsmen with the task of salvaging something for the visitors, they were going well until disaster stuck both falling within one run of each other, Ali Usman was caught by Corey Cater off Sumit Ruikar for 33 (69 balls)(1x4, 2x6) 123-6, followed by Jake Muncaster run out by Michael Wellings for 29 (58 balls)(3x4), 124-7.

We had two new batsmen Matthew Grindley and Arran Lewin, Tom Higson had Arran Lewin caught by Danny Gilbert for 2 (9 balls), 132-8, Ali Muir was in at ten and was out caught behind by Matthew Crowther off Sumit Ruikar for 1 (6 balls), 135-9.

The Blackpool innings closed on 148-9 in their 50 overs with Matthew Grindley 16no (25 balls) and Jamie Thomson 1no (4 balls).

Sumit Ruikar took 4-42 form 15 overs, Danny Gilbert 1-9 off 8, Tom Higson 1-19 from 5, Ian Walling 1-20 off 8, Cory Cater 1-39 from 11 and Joe Barlow 0-17 off 3.

Leyland v Settle

Leyland won the toss at the Stanning Memorial ground and invited the visitors to bat first, Settle did not get off to a good start losing both openers cheaply to Luke Hands, he had Zane Nirodi caught behind by Adam Sexton for 3 (7 balls), 7-1, fellow opener John Davidson was caught by Alexander Eyre for 7 (13 balls), 11-2.

The two new batsmen were Kieran Grimshaw and Gautam Waghela and they were making good progress until Kieran Grimshaw fell lbw to Ross Bretherton for 19 (33 balls)(3x4), 61-3, next in was James Snowden and he carried on the good work, Sam Oldham broke the partnership having James Snowden caught by Alexander Eyre for 10 (20 balls)(2x4), 93-4.

Tom Davidson was in next but did not last long out caught by Alexander Eyre off Ross Bretherton for 2 (20 balls), 116-5. William Davidson replaced Davidson but it soon became six wickets down with the loss of Gautam Waghela caught by Lloyd Tennant off Will Smith for 65 (86 balls)(9x4), 123-6.

Eddy Read joined William Davidson but he soon became wicket number two for Will Smith caught behind by Adam Sexton for 3 (15 balls), 141-7. Will Vause was the new man in and with William Davidson taking the lead kept the scoreboard ticking over at a good rate, Will Vause was the next man out caught by Alexander Eyre off Ned Patterson for 10 (19 balls), 174-8

The man in at ten was Noah Smith and with Davidson added sixteen runs when William Davidson was caught and bowled by Will Smith for 44 (38 balls)(6x4, 1x6), 190-9. The Settle innings came to a close on 197 all out in 45.3 overs when Noah Smith was caught by Karl Cross off Will Smith for 3 (13 balls) leaving Joe Pickles 6no (9 balls).

Will Smith took 4-12 from 5.3 overs with Luke Hands 2-23 off 6, Ross Bretherton 2-45 from 15, Ned Patterson 1-36 off 9, Sam Oldham 1-42 from 6 and Andrew Jacques 0-25 off 4.

The Leyland reply got off to a very good start with an opening partnership of 76, Karl Cross was the man out caught and bowled by William Davidson for 46 (41 balls)(7x4, 1x6), 74-1.

Sam Oldham came in at three supporting Alexander Eyre, they were going well when Alexander Eyre was bowled by Will Vause for 58 (63 balls)(10x4), 131-2, Luke Hands joined Oldham and they continued to score at a good rate until Sam Oldham was caught by James Snowden off Kieran Grimshaw for 29 (60 balls)(1x6), 172-3.

Lloyd Tennant replaced Oldham and with Hands saw the hosts to victory on 198-3 in 37.3 overs, Luke Hands was 37no (47 balls)(6x4) and Lloyd Tennant 12no (17 balls).

The Settle bowling figures were Kieran Grimshaw 1-24 from 7 overs, William Davidson 1-29 off 7, Will Vause 1-34 from 5, Eddy Read 0-14 off 2, Tom Davidson 0-37 from 3 and Gautam Waghela 0-56 off 13.3.

Longridge v Netherfield

Longridge won the toss at the Newsham Memorial ground and asked Nethefield to bat first, Reece Irving and Ben Barrow laid down a good foundation with a stand of 52, Reece Irving was the man out caught by Gabriel Dowthwaite off Tom Howarth for 19 (43 balls)(4x4), 52-1, Cole Mcconchie was the Netherfield number three but soon became wicket number two for Tom Howarth bowled for 15 (13 balls)(2x4, 1x6), 73-2.

The new man in was John Huck but he was out bowled by Jake Durnell for 10 (23 balls)(1x6), 89-3. Richard Everett joined Ben Barrow and they moved the score along and their partnership of 77 was broken when Ben Barrow was run out for 74 (128 balls)(5x4, 3x6), 166-4.

Josh Dixon was next in but quickly became wicket number two for Jake Durnell bowled for 2 (4 balls), 195-5, Will Beeden replaced Dixon and went after the runs, Richard Everett was next out caught by Jacob Proctor off Kieran McClintock for 72 (68 balls)(9x4, 3x6), 236-6

Oli Wileman joined Beeden with three overs to go, Will Beeden fell caught by Tom Howarth off Kieran McClintock for 30 (20 balls)(3x4, 1x6), 260-7.

Josh Wills came in next, Oli Wileman was out on the last ball of the innings for 13 caught by Zac Christie o Jacob Proctor for 13 (8 balls)(1x4, 1x6) as Netherfield closed on 288-8 in their 50 overs, Josh Wills was 16no (5 balls)(2x6).

The Settle bowling figures were Tom Howarth 2-49 from 14 overs, Jake Durnell 2-67 off 15, Kieran McClintock 2-81 from 9, Jacob Proctor 1-55 off 10 and Gabriel Dowthwaite 0-29 from 2.

The hosts got off to a terrible start losing three wickets for 7 runs, Joshua Mullin was the first to go lbw to Josh Wills for 0 (1 ball), 2-1.

Luke Platt was at three and saw opener Taariq Chiecktey out caught behind by Will Beeden off Matt Jackson for 5 (9 balls), 6-2. Zac Christie was the new man but with only one run added Luke Platt fell lbw to Matt Jackson for 1 (2 balls),7-3.

Zach Proctor came in next but soon lost his partner Zac Christie caught by John Huck off Matt Jackson for 7 (22 balls), 21-4, Rob Hollinghurst was the new batsman but once again Josh Wills struck bowling Zach Proctor for 6 (15 balls), 27-5. things went from bad to worse with Josh Wills bowling Rob Hollinghurst for 7 (8 balls), 28-6.

Kieran McClintock and Tom Howarth were given the task to rebuild the innings, they took the score to 62 when both were out, Josh Wills claimed his fourth wicket Kieran McClintock caught by Oli Wileman for 16 (39 balls)(2 x4), 62-7, Tom Howarth followed bowled by Oli Wileman for 14 (27 balls)(3 x4), 62-8.

Gabriel Dowthwaite and Jake Durnell had to start all over again, Oli Wileman soon accounted for Jake Durnell bowling him for 4 (10 balls), 71-9.

Jacob Proctor joined Gabriel Dowthwaite and with Dowthaite leading the way battled on until the return of Matt Jackon to the attack saw have Jacob Proctor stumped by Will Beeden for 29 (46 balls)(6x4) as Longridge were bowled out for 148 in 38.3 overs with Gabriel Dowthwaite 40no (55 balls)(4x4, 3x6).

The Netherfield opening attack did the damage with Josh Wills 4-27 from 13 overs, Matt Jackson 4-40 off 9.3 supported by Oli Wileman 2-34 from 9, Reece Irving 0-19 off 2 and Oliver Sanday 0-22 from 5.

DIVISION TWO

LEAGUE MATCHES: ROUND 1

Carlisle v St Annes

Carlisle won the toss at Edenside and asked St Annes to bat first, The visitors got off to a poor start losing Ashton Charles lbw to Nico Watt for 1 (14 balls), 12-1. Number three Nathan Bolus was soon out caught by M Brown off Brodie Glendinning for 0 (15 balls), 16-2.

Promod Maduwantha was the new batsman and with Lukman Vahaluwala got the score moving along nicely until Lukman Vahaluwala was out lbw to Nico Watt for 45 (54 balls)(6x4), 70-3. Luke Jardine was next in and supported Maduwantha with a stand of 54, it was broken by Ben Davidson having Luke Jardine caught behind by Tom Benn for 28 (29 balls)(4 x4), 124-4.

Jevan Isidore replaced Jardine and kept up the run rate until he was caught by Brodie Glendinning off Nico Watt for 24 (27 balls)(1x4, 2x6), 166-5.

Thomas Bradley was the new batsman and was scoring quickly until he was caught behind by Tom Benn off Jared Kuhl for 13 (16 balls), 191-6. Alex Urquhart came to the wicket but lost Promod Maduwantha who had been holding the innings together, he fell caught by Ben Davidson off Jared Kuhl for 74 (111 balls)(3x4), 191-6, Alex Urquhart quickly followed being Jared Kuhl's third wicket caught by Ben Davidson for 0 (4 balls), 202-8.

James Bradley was run out on the last ball of the St Annes innings by Brodie Glendinning for 3 (5 balls) as St Annes closed on 211-9 in their 50 overs with Ryan Birkman 7no (5 balls).

Jared Kuhl took 3-35 from 9 overs, Nico Watt 3-47 off 15, Ben Davidson 1-22 from 6, Brodie Glendinning 1-47 off 12 and Johnny Westgarth 0-56 from 8.

Due to the weather the Carlisle target was set at 179 from 35 overs, they lost Oliver Spedding early lbw to Lukman Vahaluwala for 4 (8 balls), 13-1, Matthew Brown was in at three but lost opener Marc Brown lbw to Lukman Vahaluwala for 11 (22 balls), 24-2.

The new batsman was Ben Davidson, the introduction of Alex Urquhart into the attack had immediate results, with his first ball he trapped Matthew Brown lbw for 10 (24 balls)(2x4), 44-3. Freddie Newton was next in but with only ten runs added Ben Davidson was bowled by Lukman Vahaluwala for 22 (25 balls)(5x4), 54-4.

Tom Benn joined Freddie Newton and had taken the score past the hundred when Thomas Bradley had Freddie Newton caught by Jevan Isidore for 23 (43 balls)(3x4), 107-5.

Brodie Glendinning replaced Newton and with Benn was moving the score along, he was the next wicket to fall bowled by Promod Maduwantha for 14 (17 balls), 128-6, Nico Watt came to the wicket but was soon out bowled by Promod Maduwantha for 9 (9 balls), 140-7.

Logan Edgar joined Tom Benn but disaster stuck for the hosts with Tom Benn stumped by James Bradley off Thomas Bradley for 38 (50 balls)(4x4), 151-8.

Jared Kuhl was Edgar's new partner but was soon out bowled by Promod Maduwantha for 4 (2 balls), 156-9, Johnny Westgarth was in at eleven and was run out by James Bradley for 3 (2 balls) as Carlisle were 159 all out in 34.4 overs with Logan Edgar 6no (6 balls).

For St Annes Promod Mauwantha took 3-26 from 5.4 overs, Lukman Vahaluwala 3-40 off 9, Thomas Bradley 2-37 from 9, Alex Urquhart 1-15 off 3 and Rory Urquhart 0-39 from 8.

Carnforth v Mawdesley

Mawdesley won the toss at Lodge Quarry and invited the hosts to bat first, the two openers were just settling in when Joshua Adamson bowled Lewis Spurr for 12 (29 balls)(2x4), 25-1.

Jaco Beneke was the host's number three, only six runs had been added when Louis Royal bowled Freddie Whatmuff for 10 (13 balls)(2x4), 31-2. James Park-Johnson was the new batsman and with Beneke were going well, Joshua Adamson was the man to break the stand having Jaco Beneke caught behind by Fyffe Dennis for 31 (37 balls)(5x4), 76-3.

Dylan Conroy joined Park-Johnson and they looked to be in control, Oliver Ellicott changed it with two wickets in two balls. Dylan Conroy hit him for 6 but the next ball he was out lbw for 57 (51 balls)(7x4, 2x6), 174-4, next ball incoming batsman Zack Dodds fell lbw for 0 (1 ball), 174-5.

Louis Potter replaced Dodds but with only 4 runs added he was out lbw to Oliver Ellicott for 1 (11 balls), 178-6. James Park-Johnson had a new partner in Shane Dixon and they kept the scoreboard moving along, Oliver Ellicott once more broke the stand with his fourth wicket Shane Dixon lbw for 27 (28 balls)(3x6), 230-7.

Romaria Brathwaite came in, we were now in the last over, Tom Parkinson was run out by Aneeq Hassan for 7 (7 balls), 258-9.

Romario Brathwaite 8no (3 balls)(1x6) and Jack Thompson 0no (1 ball) saw Carnforth close on 260-9 in their 50 overs,

The Mawdesley replay saw the early loss of both opening batsmen, Sam Ireland went first caught behind by Shane Dixon off James Park-Johnson for 4 (13 balls), 13-1, four runs later Fyffe Dennis was bowled by Dylan Conroy for 11 (18 balls)(2x4), 17-2.

The two new batsmen were Aneeq Hassan and Oliver Ellicott, the Dixon Park-Johnson combination struck again, Oliver Ellicott was caught behind by Shane Dixon bowled James Park-Johnson for 10 (23 balls)(2x4), 66-4. Nathan Trengove joined Hassan, Romaria Brathwaite was brought into the attack and in his first over had Nathan Trengove caught by Louis Potter for 10 (21 balls)(1x6), 66-4.

Lee Berrie was Aneeq Hassan's new partner and they had nearly doubled the score when Freddie Whatmuff bowled Aneeq Hassan for 48 (59 balls)(8x4, 1x6), 125-5. Kasim Masood was in next but soon lost Lee Berrie run out by Shane Dixon for 37 (42 balls)(5x4), 130-6.

Will Caunce joined Masood and they were looking for the win, they went past the two hundred only for Will Caunce to fall caught by Tom Parkinson off James Park-Johnson for 36 (48 balls)(4x4), 207-7. The game swung in the hosts favour with the loss of two wickets three runs later, Freddie Whatmuff accounted for incoming batsman Joshua Adamson bowled for 1 (4 balls), 210-8, Kasim Masood then fell caught by Ton Parkinson off James Park-Johnson for 32 (37 balls)(1x4, 2x6), 210-9.

Louis Royal and Neil O'Malley were the last pair, Mawdesley were bowled out for 229 in 47.4 overs when Neil O'Malley was caught by Lewis Spurr off Freddie Whatmuff for 16 (11 balls)(2x6) leaving Louis Royal 3no (12 balls).

James Park Johnson took 4-61 from 15 overs, Freddie Whatmuff 3-47 off 13.4, Dylan Conroy 1-23 from 6, Romaria Brathwaite 1-30 off 4, Tom Parkinson 0-15 from 3, Jaco Beneke 0-20 off 2 and Jack Thompson 0-27 from 4.

Grest Eccleston v Barrow

Great Eccleston won the toss at Hall Lane and put the visitors into bat, Barrow were bowled out for 212 in 49 overs, Nisanth Arun top scored supported by Drew Postlethwaite 45, Sam Dutton 44 and Dikshant Vairagi 23.

The Great Eccleston bowlng figures were Phil Booth 4-26 from 9 overs, Alexander Rhodes 3-38 off 11, Mohammed Fazil 1-11 from 5, Nishanth Nithian 1-29 off 3, William Turbull 1-31 from 7, Mohamed Nadeem 0-25 off 6 and Jim Proctor 0-44 from 8.

In reply the hosts knocked off the runs in 38.5 overs scoring 215-5, leading the way was Nisanth Nithian with 91, there were also contributions from Rishit Sharma 41no, Matthew Lawrenson 26, Mohammed Fazil 24 and Alexander Rhodes 11.

Gary Collins for Barrow took 5-73 from 14 overs, Sam Henderson 0-22 off 5, Sajid Khan 0-28 from 5, Simon Chadd 0-32 off 6 and Dikshant Vairagi 0-60 from 8.5,

Thornton Cleveleys v Penwortham

Thornton Cleveleys won the toss at Illawalla and invited Penwortham to bat first, Robbie Sumner and Ryan Dimasi got them off to a good start with a stand of 46, Cameron Chisholm broke the partnership bowling Robbie Sumner for 15 (31 balls), 46-1.

Jonathon Hothersall came in at three but was soon out bowled by Joshua Rolinson for 4 (12 balls), 59-2. Next in was Joseph Bradshaw and with Dimasi took the score to 89 when two wickets fell, Cameron Chisholm had Joseph Bradshaw lbw for 11 (20 balls)(2x4), 89-3, next ball new batsman Glynn Parkinson was bowled for 0, 89-4.

Harish Hamsa joined Dimasi and they were going well until Ryan Dimasi fell lbw to Joshu Sackfield for 84, (87 balls)(10x4, 4x6), 137-5. The incoming batsman was Ed Duckworth and with Hamsa kept the scoreboard ticking over, Harish Hamsa was the next to go caught by Christopher Hedged off Joshua Sackfield for 25 (31 balls)(1x4, 2x6), 169-6.

Nathan Walmesley replaced Hamsa but Joshua Sackfield claimed his third wicket Ed Duckworth bowled for 16 (22 balls)(3x4), 178-7. Ashley Billington joined Nathan Walmsley and they were approaching the two hundred when they lost their last three wickets for two runs, Joshua Sackfield struck again having Ashley Billington caught by Josh Borrell for 8 (20 balls), 197-8.

Cameron Chisholm mopped up the tail with two wickets in four balls, Nathan Walmsley was caught behind by Sam Curwen for 9 (22 balls), 199-9, three balls later he claimed his fifth wicket number eleven Matthew Finnerty bowled for 0 (3 balls) Penwortham were 199 all out in 44.5 overs. Ryan Roberts was 0no (1 ball).

Cameron Chisholm took 5-59 from 13.5 overs, Joshau Sackfield 4-16 off 7, Joshua Rolinson 1-25 from 7.5 Jake Apperley 0-22 off 4, Daniel Howard 0-34 from 9, and Christopher Hedges 0-37 off 3.1.

Joshua Rolinson and Joshua Sackfield got the hosts off to fast start reaching 34 at the start of the fifth over, Matthew Finnerty was the man to make the breakthrough having Joshua Sackfield caught by Ryan Roberts for 12 (12 balls)(2x4), 34-1.

The Thornton Cleveleys innings turned into a complete disaster losing seven wickets for three runs, Matthew Finnerty started the collapse, Josh Borrell caught by Ryan Dimasi for 0 (8 balls), 42-2. he then took two wickets in two balls, first, opener Joshua Rolinson was next caught by Nathan Walmsley for 27 (24 balls)(2x4, 2x6), 43-3, new batsman Richard Jenkinson was out first ball caught behind by Robbie Sumner for 0 (1 ball), 43-4.

Matthew Finnerty claimed his fifth wicket incoming batsman Will Weber bowled for 0 (5 balls), 43-5. Ryan Roberts then took over with two wickets, Cameron Chisholm was lbw for 1 (6 balls), 44-6, Daniel Howard soon followed bowled for 0 (10 balls), 44-7.

Jake Apperley was the next batsman but he too was out qucikly bowled by Matthew Finnerty for 0 (3 balls), 45-8. Sam Curwen had been watching the disaster at the other end and had a new partner in Christopher Hedges , they dug in and tried to rebuild the innings from an impossible position, the partnership was 34 when Nathan Walmsley bowled Sam Curwen for 15 (57 balls)(2x4), 79-9.

The Thornton Cleveleys innings came to a close on 80 all out in 28.2 overs with number eleven Ethan Elphick caught by Ryan Roberts off Nathan Walmsley for 0 (6 balls), Christopher Hedges was undefeated on 25 (36 balls)(4x4, 1x6).

Matthew Finnerty's figures were 6-60 from 14 overs with Nathan Walmsley 2-5 off 4.2 and Ryan Robert 1-28 from 10.

Vernon Carus v Euxton

Euxton won the toss at Factory Lane and chose to bat first, Josh Tolley and Max Harper got the visitors off to a decent start losing Max Harper caught by Hasan Zaman off Matthew Timms for 14 (43 balls)(3x4), 34-1. number three James Bone and Josh Tolley were going well until Josh Tolley was caught by Ian Dunn off Jacob Holland for 66 (106 balls)(8x4, 2x6), 124-2.

Hakeem Perryman joined Bone and they continued to make progress, the partnership was 50 when Hakeem Perryman was out caught behind by Casey Sawley-Elliott off Ian Dunn for 19 (32 balls)(3x4), 174-3.

Ben Houghton was the new batsman and with Bone saw Euxton close on 257-3 in their 50 overs, James Bone was 86no (107 balls)(13x4, 1x6) and Ben Houghton 37no (16)(6x4, 1x6).

For Vernon Carus Ian Dunn took 1-26 from 6, Matthew Timms 1-29 off 12, Jacob Holland 1-51 from 13, Oliver Lombard 0-66 off 11 and Muhammad Patel 0-74 from 8.

In reply the hosts got off to a bad start losing Hasan Zaman caught by Tom Cater off Joseph Bowden for 0 (1 ball), 5-1, Haren Shetty was in at three and with Ian Dunn moved the score along until Haren Shetty fell caught behind by Jack Morgan off Joseph Bowden for 19 (26 balls)(3x4), 38-2.

New batsman Wes Royle joined Ian Dunn and they took the score past the hundred, James Bone broke the partnership, Ian Dunn was caught and bowled for 48 (82 balls)(5x4), 113-3. next in was Jaxon Cornford who was soon out bowled by Joseph Barker for 7 (18 balls), 113-3.

David Fisher came to the wicket but with only six runs added Wes Royle was out caught behind by Jack Morgan off Joseph Barker for 35 (61 balls)(3x4, 1x6), 119-4. David Fisher replaced Royle but lost his partner Jaxon Cornford another victim for Joseph Barker bowled for 7 (18 balls), 130-5.

Muhammad Patel was the new batsman but he quickly became wicket number four for Joseph Barker bowled for 0 (6 balls), 132-6. Matthew Timms became David Fisher's new partner and they had a partnership of 55 broken when Joseph Barker had David Fisher caught by James Bowden for 27 (43 balls)(2x4, 1x6), 187-7.

Casey Sawley-Elliott was next in but with only six runs added when Joseph Barker claimed his fifth wicket Matthew Timms caught behind by Jack Morgan for 33 (28 balls)(2x4, 2x6), 193-8.

Jacob Holland replaced Timms and with Sawley-Elliot saw Vernpon Carus close on 228-8 in their 50 overs, Casey Sawley-Elliott was 12no (24 balls) and Jacob Holland 25no (12 balls)(3x4, 1x6).
