Match Day 12th June 2011

RESULTS 12th June 2011

Netherfield frustrated by the weather

Jon Miles makes runs against Bucks bowler Tom Helm

Netherfield were left frustrated by the rain as their home game with Lancashire Colts was abandoned after rain stopped play just after 2pm. The players hung around for three hours but with no let-up in the conditions the umpires had no option but to call off the game.

Netherfield had reduced the Colts to 59/5 after 17 overs, stand-in pro Dieter Klein claiming 3/23 from nine overs, all to catches behind the wicket by John Huck.

With Nathan Chambers and Marc Hadwin each claiming a wicket apiece Chris Parry's side appeared to be in strong position when the weather intervened. Ben Sloan stood firm for the Colts and was unbeaten on 35 off 60 balls including eight fours.

Elsewhere Morecambe reached the Group 3 Final of the ECB National Club Championship after a hollow victory over Horwich. With no chance of play at Woodhill Lane due to rain the sides opted for a bowl-out to determine the tie, Morecambe winning 2-0.

Morecambe will now play Bootle or Northern at home in the Final provisionally scheduled for 3 July.

In the Minor Counties Championship game at Furness CC rain intervened after 75 minutes' play with Cumberland 96/0 off 19 overs against Buckinghamshire.

Kendal's Jon Miles continued his fine run of form with 39no and James Lowe was 42no.

Six Northern League cricketers are in the Cumberland side with Morecambe's Chris Williams and Barrow's Liam Livingstone making their three-day debuts for the County.

Ikram Ullah (Morecambe), Graham Dawson (Barrow) and Alex Atkinson (Netherfield) are also in the side.

Weather permitting play resumes on Day 2 tomorrow (Monday) with the start time brought forward to 10-30am.
