The Latham Baxendale Twenty20 Cup

Morecambe v Lancaster

By Michael Latham

Resounding derby win for Lancaster

Lancaster started their Latham Baxendale Twenty20 Cup campaign with a convincing derby success at Morecambe
At Woodhill Lane Lancaster skipper Michael Stevens and Tim Barry combined in a third wicket stand that helped their side post a challenging 158 for 3 against Morecambe.
Stevens hit 62 off 61 balls and Barry an unbeaten 65 off 50 balls after Jamie Heywood was run out for 1 and pro Roy Silva caught by Mandla Mashimbyi off Ryan Smith without scoring.

In reply Morecambe never got to grips with a tight Lancaster bowling attack and closed on 84 for 8 to go down by 74 runs.
Ben Simm took three for 16 and Barry completed a fine all-round performance by recording one for 10 from his four overs while opening bowler Iain Perrieman took one for 12 from his quota.

SCORES:

Lancaster 158 for 3 (T Barry 65no, M Stevens 62), Morecambe 84 for 8
