Barrow CC and Lancashire Academy player Liam Livingstone has won a prestigious national award.
Livingstone has been named All Out Cricket Magazine's Young Cricketer of the Year for 2009.

The Lancashire CCC website reports: The magazine, alongside cricket equipment supplier Newbery, who will provide the winner with a full set of equipment for 2010, sought high and low for the very best young players in the country and received nominations from parents, coaches and county development officers alike.
In crowning Lancashire Academy's Liam Livingstone, the magazine states that there was one individual who stood out as not only an incredibly gifted, but also an incredibly committed cricketer. Travelling thousands of miles over the course of the season to play school, club and a variety of representative cricket, Liam Livingstone has over the course of the season established himself as one of the country's best prospects.

In 2009, Liam was part of the ECB's Under 16 Emerging Players squad and was one of only 10 players to pass a tough selection week at the National Performance Centre in Loughborough. He was also the youngest player for more than 30 years to represent Cumberland in a full Minor Counties fixture he has travelled over 10,000 miles to attend coaching sessions, trials and matches.

On hearing of his selection for this award, Liam said:I could not have achieved this recognition without the support of everyone I play with and all the coaches who have taken time to improve my game. He also thanked Lancashire Academy Director John Stanworth and his mum and dad.
Newbery's Neil Lenham added: Despite stiff competition from a number of other nominees, Liam was the outstanding candidate to receive AOC's Young Cricketer of the Year award. He is a player with the dedication, determination and talent to make it at the very highest level.
