EXCITING DEVELOPMENTS AT PRESTON

New Professional, Captain and Director of Cricket

Bilal Asad is Preston's Director of Cricket

Preston Cricket Club enter a new era in 2009 with a newly appointed captain, professional and director of cricket.
Preston spokesperson Steve Coughlan reports: This will be the first season for many years that Preston CC has not had the guiding light of Dave Wilson who passed away in the autumn of 2008.
Clive Henderson and Dave Pick have released themselves from Club commitments so that they can take devote more time with their responsibilities with the Northern League. Finally, Roger Kaye who has been associated with the club for many years has decided to play his cricket elsewhere.

We have a new professional in Preston born Adam Parker while last season's professional, Bilal Asad, has agreed to become Director of Cricket and play for the club as an amateur. Joe Davies will captain the side after Glenn Johnstone's retirement at the end of last season. Mohsin Patel will captain the second team.
Parker, who was Leyland's professional in 2006, played with distinction for Fleetwood last season.

Off the field Mr Coughlan reports several exciting developments.
Having received Clubmark Accreditation last August, we are now been awarded Focus club status in February 2009. We are one of 117 clubs to be awarded this status.
We also have a big ECB-Nat West Cricketforce event this week-end (4-5 April). The official start is at 10am on Saturday, when four Lancashire CCC players will be in attendance. They are Lancashire captain Glen Chapple, Tom Smith, Simon Kerrigan and Karl Brown.
So an exciting year awaits for a club in transition with many positive developments taking place.
