Preston bid for national T20 glory
Barbados trip within Preston's grasp

Adam Parker will captain Preston on Sunday

Preston Cricket Club is one of 25 clubs across the nation, contesting the Area Finals of the Cockspur Club Twenty20 competition on Sunday August 30th 2009.
More than 550 ECB Premier League teams entered the qualifying rounds.

In order to represent the Furness Building Society Northern Premier Cricket League, Preston have defeated St Annes and Fleetwood, and on the Finals Day held at Netherfield CC on 9th August they defeated Darwen in the semi final, and Netherfield in the Final.

West Cliff, Preston CC's home ground is one of eight grounds across the nation that will contest the Area Finals on the 30th August 2009.
Three teams were due to play in a 'round robin' tournament but the Yorkshire Premier Cricket League has informed the ECB that due to inclement weather they have been unable to complete the qualifying rounds and thus they will be unable to send a team.
Therefore, there will be a straightforward 'winner takes all' match between Preston CC and Chester-le-Street CC representing the North East Premier League at 1.30 pm on Sunday 30th August 2009.

Chester-le-Street will provide formidable opposition, having last Sunday scored a massive 318 runs in 45 overs to defeat Shrewsbury CC by 39 runs in the National Club Championship semi-final
The winning team will contest the Regional Finals on 13th September, and the successful team on that date will contest the Finals Day which will be held on Monday 28th September at the County ground, Derby (to be televised on Sky).

The winners will have a 10 days all-expenses paid trip to Barbados to take part in the Rumsey Pro-Am competition in October

Professionals are not eligible to play if their remuneration is their main source of income, and that means that Preston CC's professional and captain Bilal Asad will not be eligible to play. The side will be captained by Preston born Adam Parker

It would be really encouraging to see a lot of spectators for this important match and for Preston's remaining three League matches. Preston CC is second in the Northern Premier League with three home matches left in the season. They play Leyland CC on Monday 31st August, Barrow CC on Saturday September 5th and finally Morecambe CC on Saturday 12th September.

Thanks to Steve Coughlan, Preston CC's Chair of Cricket for the information
