FIXTURES SATURDAY 8th MAY

Local derby at Fox Lane

Chorley pro Jon-Jon Smuts

The fifth round fixtures in the Furness Building Society Northern Premier Cricket League (incorporating Readers Cricket Balls) are played this coming Saturday with early season leaders Leyland hosting third-placed Chorley in a local derby at Fox Lane.

Leyland pro Brett Pelser

Leyland defeated Lancashire Colts by two wickets with one ball to spare to earn their fourth successive win and welcome back South African professional Brett Pelser after he missed the Colts game due to a prior commitment.
Chorley's South African pro JJ Smuts has made an impressive start to life at Windsor Park and will be aiming to put one over his fellow countryman. Smuts made an impressive 75 in Chorley's rain ruined draw against Lancaster and also took four wickets with his left arm spin.

Kendal's professional and captain Ross McMillan enjoyed a fine Bank Holiday, taking the season's first hat-trick at Lancaster on Saturday and scoring a century and taking six wickets in Monday's emphatic win over Fleetwood.
In between he also played with success as sub-pro for Ramsbottom in the Lancashire League.

Kendal visit Carnforth who will be hoping Warren Quinn will be available on a regular basis. Last season's Castle Award winner has moved to live in London but took four wickets on his seasonal bow against Blackpool on Monday.

St Annes' Atiq Uz-Zaman scored a masterly match-winning hundred against Darwen and with pro Dinuk Hettiarachchi back in the fold the reigning champions will be aiming to continue their momentum against a Barrow side that enjoyed back-to-back wins over the weekend.

Blackpool host Lancashire Colts at Stanley Park with Nimesh Perera, their Sri Lankan pro settling into the club.

Netherfield's Queensland pro Nick Kruger has threatened to play a big innings and looked impressive with the bat so far. He spearheads his side's home game against a Fleetwood side looking to re-group after being skittled for a low score at Kendal.

Preston are still awaiting the arrival of pro Bilal Asad for a fifth season at West Cliff as they entertain Lancaster. The Lancaster pro Roy Silva was one of three batsmen to hit half-centuries in their game at Chorley with Jamie Heywood and Tim Barry also in form.

Morecambe pro Mandla Mashimbyihit his first century for the club against Preston and Alex Thistlethwaite supported his professional with an impressive half-century, his first in the senior side.
Morecambe visit Birch Hall to play Darwen.
