Popular Preston CC professional Bilal Asad takes a well deserved benefit at West Cliff this Wednesday (8 September) when a Northern League Select XI play a Pakistan Select XI in a Twenty20 game starting at 5-30pm.

A host of international stars are included in the Pakistan Select XI while the Northern League XI includes many of the top performers with bat and ball this season. St Annes' Atiq Uz-Zaman, Morecambe's Ikram Ullah, Preston's Adam Parker, Lukman Vahaluwala and Sajid Patel and Kendal legend Terry Hunte all feature in a side captained by Leyland's championship-winning skipper David Makinson.

Luis Reece and Andrew Makinson also represent the champions alongside Blackpool's Richard Gleeson and Darwen's Kamran Anwar. St Annes pro Dinuka Hettiarachchi completes the line-up.

The provisional Pakistan XI side is: Bilal Asad; M Wasim (capt), A Mehmood, Bazid Khan, Naeem Ashraf, A Rehman, Imran Tahir, Anwar Ali, R Akbar, R Majeed and B Naeem.

Bilal Asad has been a magnificent professional in five years at Preston and has scored 3,749 Northern League runs at an average of 41.66 with six hundreds and 24 fifties. His highest score was an unbeaten 170 at Carnforth in 2007.

In cup games he has hit 1,051 runs at an average of 50.05 with three hundreds and five fifties. Bilal has also taken 238 league wickets at 14.03 with 16 five-wicket hauls. His best bowling was 8 for 29 at Leyland in 2009. He has also taken 33 cup wickets at 16.15 and a total of 60 catches. It is hoped that a large crowd will mark Bilal's benefit game this Wednesday for what is sure to be an entertaining evening of top quality cricket.
