NEW PROFESSIONAL FOR BLACKPOOL

South African all rounder joins Danno's Boys

Stanley Park will be Con De Lange's new home in 2011

Blackpool have announced their professional for 2011 with the signing of the experienced South African all rounder Con De Lange. De Lange who plays for the Knights and Free State in South Africa, is a slow left-arm spinner and an accomplished middle order right-handed batsman. The 29-year-old, is no stranger to playing overseas and has had stints in Northern Ireland and Scotland. He also played several matches for East Lancashire CC in the 2002 Lancashire League campaign.

A veteran of 83 first-class games, 118 List A games and 16 domestic Twenty20 matches, de Lange has scored one first-class century and hit 2,723 runs at an average of 22.31 and taken 175 first-class wickets at 38.88 with a best bowling analysis of seven for 48 since his first-class debut in the 1997-98 season. He also represented South Africa at Under-19s level.

In Free State's recent drawn game against South Western Districts he hit 62 and 63 against an opposition attack featuring the former Kendal pro Ross McMillan.

De Lange becomes Blackpool's fourth South African professional during their 60 years in the Northern League following in the footsteps of Tim Shaw (1986), Deon Kruis (2003) and Justin Kreusch (2004 to 2007). He replaces the outgoing Nimesh Perera as club professional.

Commenting on the signing Blackpool CC captain Paul Danson said: "Con will be travelling with his wife and soon to be born new child, and has told club officials of his excitement of joining Blackpool and helping them challenge for honours this year.

"I am delighted that we have managed to secure the signature of Con and would like to thank Wayne Clarke (Fleetwood) for his help in making this happen. I am delighted that we have finally got our man. Con is someone we have chased since Justin Kreusch departed. His all-round abilities added to the present squad should make Blackpool competitive once again."
