THE LEWIS TOMLINSON INTERVIEW

Cordingley Looking To Challenge

John Cordingley bowling

Darwen Captain John Cordingley is hoping his young side are ready for a season of challenging in all competitions.

When he was asked about aims for the season he said:

"We are looking for a strong showing this season. Our young team has gained another seasons experience and we will be looking to challenge in all comps."

John have also found the man they wanted having snapped up South African Shaun De Kock.

Having signed De Kock Cordingley said:

"We have been looking for a player like Shaun all winter. We were really keen to sign a left arm spinner who can bat as it suits our squad and home ground. He is young and in good form with the ball for his state team and we have high hopes he will bring a new dimension to our team as well as some enthusiasm."

When I asked John Cordingley if they brought any players in he came out with a very positive response:

"We dont go out and look for players at Darwen. We are a club that prides itself on developing players from the under 9's to the first team. All but 1 in the first team played from under 11's in our team and we hope that continues in the years to come. We have no players in and more importantly no players out, despite interest from other clubs."

John's Darwen will begin the season at home to Lancaster on Saturday the 14th of April.
