Preview of weekend 4th and 5th August

By Richard Edmondson

A massive weekend of league and cup action!

Its the battle of the top two at Broadwater as second placed Fleetwood entertain league leaders Barrow in what is a decisive match in the race for the league title

Both Barrow and Fleetwood have pulled away from the rest making it a two way battle for the championship.

There are only seven points between both sides, so a result for either team will give them a massive advantage as the season reaches the business end of the campaign.

Both sides have been consistently the best. making it a very hard game to call, last weekend Barrow defeated St Annes whilst Fleetwood won the TWP Wealth Twenty/20 on Sunday and defeated Netherfield in the league on Saturday.

Fleetwood incidentally play in the ECB Twenty20 area finals at New Brighton CC on Sunday, 1pm start

For the other teams there is still plenty to play for, as Blackpool host Chorley at Stanley Park, whilst at Lodge Quarry Carnforth entertain Leyland.

Morecambe are the visitors to Birch Hall as they take on Darwen, whilst Lancaster face Netherfield at Lune Road, with St Annes hosting Preston.

In Division 2 it's still all to play for at the top, as leaders Leyland host Carnforth, whilst second placed Barrow host Fleetwood and 3rd placed Netherfield entertain Lancaster.

All the other second division teams, also face important games as Morecambe host Darwen, Chorley entertain Blackpool, whilst Preston host St Annes.

On Sunday it's the Readers Cup,as Chorley host Leyland, and Morecambe entertain Kendal.

In Division Two's Readers Cup, Leyland host Chorley at Fox Lane and Preston are home to Blackpool at West Cliff.
