Season Preview: Kendal Cricket Club

Readers Cup Winners 2012

Kendal Cricket Club

Captain: Chris Miller, Professional: Alex Doolan, Last Season Finished: 4th

Kendal go into the season with high expectations after a succesful 2012 campaign which saw them finish in an impressive 4th place as well as being crowned Readers Cup Champions

The team from Shap Road, have arguably got one of the strongest squads in the division, after retaining last seasons squad as well as adding to the team with the aquisition of Alex Doolan as Club professional as well as signing Ryan Nelson from Carnforth.

Kendal also go into the new campaign with a bowling attack of Jack White, Chris Miller, Nick Lewthwaite, and Stu Parkin.

The batting line up looks strong with Terry Hunte and new signings Alex Doolan and Ryan Nelson.

Captains View:

"2013 brings a lot of excitement down at Shap Road for both the players and supporters of the club after 2 years of success in the winning of the League and Regional in the National Twenty/20 competions in 2011 and the Readers cup in 2012.

Hopefully with the league being pretty open this year on paper, and with doing pretty well as a cup side over the last couple of seasons there is no reason why we can have more to celebrate this season.

With the departure of Jamie How, we needed to find someone to fill the massive hole left by him in the top of the order, so hopefully in signing Alex we have someone who is able to do that. With Ryan Nelson also joining the fold this year, we should have a top order capable of putting some scores on the board.

In Jack White I think we have one of the best allrounders in the league and I hope he continues on from his success of last year and from his time in New Zealand this winter. I am sure a Minor county or second XI call up is not far away.

Sadly we have a couple of injures leading up to the start of the season in myself and Gary Baker but hopefully we will both be fit by the time Chorley come to Shap Road"
