Season Preview: Barrow Cricket Club

Daryl Wearing

Barrow Cricket Club

Captain:Daryl Wearing, Professional: Michael Hill, Last Season Finished 2nd

Barrow were one of the main challengers for the league in 2012 and were top of the division for most of the campaign. Eventually they fell to Fleetwood, and despite taking it to the last day, Barrow were unable to claim the title.

For season 2013, Barrow have lost Jon Miles and Liam Livingstone, as well as Chris D'leny for 12 months following a 5th knee operation for the former skipper.

Daryl Wearing will be captain for the new campaign, and despite seeing the Pro deal for Travis Head fall through,Barrow were quick to replace this with the signing of Australian Batsman Michael Hill.

Incoming players also include ex Cumberland player Dean Williams who rejoins the club as well as ex Garstang batsman Michael Wellings who has just moved to the area.

Captains View:

"We have lost a few guys from last year including Jon Miles and Liam Livingstone who have both taken up fresh challenges and last years skipper, Chris D'Leny will be out for 12 months following his 5th knee operation which means we have a big hole to fill.

This will provide massive opportunities for a lot of guys and hopefully certain individuals can tie down their positions in the 1st Team.

Ex Cumberland player Dean Williams has rejoined the club and we have also signed ex Garstang batsman Michael Wellings who has just moved to the area.

We are going to have a young side this year and a number of them will be progressing from last season's successful A team.

This season there is not the same expectation as last and the pressure is off us, so hopefully we can use that in our favour and surprise one or two sides"
