Northern League Preview for Weekend 26th and 27th April

Richard Edmundson as resigned as Web Master for Play-cricket due to work commitments. The League would like to thank him for all the time and effort he put in over the last few years and wish him well in the future

Division 1

This week Barrow take on Chorley at the Ernest Pass Memorial ground, Last weekend Barrow played last years champions Leyland at Fox Lane and came away with a losing draw. They will be hoping to get back to winning ways against Chorley

Chorley had a good 15 point win over Preston and will be trying to consolidate their position

Blackpool play their first match of the season against Leyland at Stanley Park. Leyland's Overseas amateur Alex Ross opened his account in the league with an 89 and Tayyab Afsar returning to the club took 4-41

Darwen entertain St Annes at Birch Hall and both had wins last weekend, Darwen had a 15 point win over Lancaster with Ammer Mirza making 72 aided by John Cordingley with 44, professional George Linde who made his league debut with figures of 5-42

St Annes won at home against reaching their target with one over to spare. Debutant Mikey Harling was the pick of the bowlers with 4-55. In the batting captain Andy Kellett lead the way with 44 well supported by Lukman Vahaluwala 42, Adam Holt on his St Annes debut 35 with Nathan Armstrong 33 and Nathan Bolus 33 not out.

Fleetwood after their two games last weekend have Netherfield at home. Fleetwood had a winning draw at Morecambe with professional Jean De Villiers making 63 well supported by captain Mat Clark on 50 not out. Jean also contributed with the ball with figures of 4-47.

On Sunday Fleewood defeated the Lancashire Colts at Broadwater by 3 wickets, Jean De Villiers taking 5-41 and Adam Parker 57 and Dean Bell 50 the run makers

Netherfield are hoping to spring back from their defeat at Vernon Road, Professsinal Saliya Saman batted very well and was out to a brilliant catch by St Annes's Toby Bulcock.

Preston travel to Shap Road at Kendal. Both sides suffered defeats last weekend and will be looking to get on the winning trail. Kendal lost in a close match at Penrith losing with 2 balls to go but can take heart in that professional Jamie How scored 119 and Chris Miller took 5-78

Preston will try and put their defeat at Chorley behind them professional Shoib Abdul Cadir took 4-33 and Sarfraz Navaz Patel made 50

Penrith have Morecambe has their visitors, Penrith had a win in their first match in the League thanks to scores from Ryan Carruthers 49, Paul Hindmarch 47 and Alex Atkinson 40, Professional Hindmarch also took 7-32.

Morecambe had a losing draw against Fleetwood with sub pro Brett Pelser scoring 52 and taking 4-50 with Ryan Pearson making 42

On Sunday Barrow entertain the Lancashire Colts

Division 2

Chorley take on Barrow at Windsor Park, Chorley with a 10 wicket win at Preston with Ian Oakes 5-17 doing the damage. Barrow will want to fight back after their defeat by Leyland

Leyland after their victory over Barrow thanks to 84 from Tom Reece are at home to Blackpool in their first game of the season

Morecambe are at Home to Penrith, Morecambe had a losing draw with Fleetwood and Penrith lost to Kendal

Fleetwood are the visitors at Parkside Road, Josh Heaney for Fleetwood scored 45 and took 5-19 with the ball, Andy Singleton made 40. Netherfield had a 8 wicket win over St Annes, Bradley Airey 4-73 thier best bowler and Matthew Goodall 79 not out with Craig Walmsley 76 the main run makers

Preston take on Kendal and will be wanting to improve on last weekend. Andrew Dugdale did the damage for Kendal in their win over Penrith

At Vernon Road St Annes take on Darwen hoping to reverse the outcome of last weekend. Andrew Brown 82 and Greg Lawrenson 5-2 were the main contributors to their 15 point win
