Leyland sign Richardt Frenz as their Overseas player

Leyland Cricket Club are pleased to announce that Richardt Frenz will be joining us as our overseas player for the 2015 season.

Richardt is a 22 year old right handed top order batsman from South Africa were he has represented the North West provincial side alongside former Leyland favourite Brett Pelser.

He made 117 on his first class debut in 2014 and in his latest appearance for North West in February this year he made a career best 157 against Eastern Province. Richardt has recently completed his studies at the PUKKE University and is keen to gain some experience of playing cricket overseas.

First team skipper David Makinson is delighted to have secured a promising overseas player ahead of the season. He said, "It has been a difficult winter for the club for a number of reasons but people are working hard behind the scenes to help us move forward. Hopefully the news of Richardt joining us as our overseas player will provide a timely boost for everyone as the season rapidly approaches."

"Richardt has been highly recommended to us by Brett and we greatly value his opinion as someone who understands the club inside out and will have our best interests at heart. I'm also sure that Brett helped influence Richardt's decision to come to Leyland as he will have told him about us and what he can expect with regard to the level of cricket in the Northern League.

I've been in touch with Richardt and he seems like a level-headed lad. He is keen to get involved in helping with coaching at the club and I'm sure that he will fit in well both on and off the field."
