Readers Cup review for the 2nd August

READERS CUP DIVISION ONE

Darwen progress to the final, Leyland meet Lancaster in the last remaining Semi Final clash

DARWEN V BLACKPOOL

Darwen book their place in the Readers Cup Final after defeating Blackpool by 8 wickets at Birch Hall. Blackpool were blown away for 107 in 39 overs. Greg Lawrenson the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3-21.

Ernest Kemm and Reece Davies took 2 wickets each, with Niall Burke, David Bowden and John Cordingley taking 1.

In reply Darwen knocked the runs off 14.2 overs, closing on 108-2. Mark Friend unbeaten on 58 guided his side home.

LEYLAND V FLEETWOOD

Leyland face Lancaster in the Readers Cup Semi Finals after defeating Fleetwood by 34 runs.

Luis Reece cracked a marvellous century scoring 123 off 122 balls. Reece's knock including 11 fours and 4 sixes meaning David Makinson's team closed on 223-7.

Fleetwood were all out for 189 in 38.1 Overs, . David King with 52 off 45 balls and Ian Holland with 41 off 42 balls lead the Fleetwood chase only to fail by 34 runs. Andrew Jacques was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3-32


DIVISION TWO

Blackpool and Leyland to go head to head in the Readers Cup Division Two Final

BLACKPOOL v DARWEN

Blackpool ssw off Darwen by 4 runs to progress into the Division Two Final. The hosts winning a rain reduced game, with the overs reduced to 23 aside.

The hosts closed on 122-5, Jake Muncaster's unbeaten 55 off 51 balls and Tom Myerscough's 47 off 50 balls coming at a crucial stage in the contest.

Andrew Cook returning figures of 3-68

In reply Darwen fell short by 4 runs closing on 118-6. John Painter with 44 off 52 balls. Chris Baines and Matthew Siddall took a brace of wickets.

PENRITH v LEYLAND

Leyland brushed aside Penrith by 173 runs to progress into the final of The Readers Cup. Leyland posting a dominating 215-6. Ian Farrington top scoring with an unbeaten knock of 63 off 42 balls.

Penrith were blown away for 42 in 16.5 overs. Ross Bretherton with figures of 5-4, James Rounding 3-17 and Monty Cottam with 2-17.
